Damn!!!!! I've been listening to this song since day one, but just started to listen for the last couple of weeks and Ecstacy passes away the other day, Wow!!!! RIP Mr. John (Ecstacy) Fletcher, !!!!!!
Easily the most underrated hip hop pioneer group. I feel hip hop had the gangsta rap path popularized by NWA, the Afrocentric path brought up by De La Soul and Tribe, and the Electro path started by this group. We all know what road rap went down but I always wonder how different it would be as a genre if gangsta rap didn’t take off
Whodini was a mixture of rhythm and blues & electro funk with the help of Thomas Dolby who produced their first two albums it was innovative at that time a very unique sound most of hip hop music was underground in the early 80's no morning radio air play most people were against it, this is a history lesson for you generation"z" or millennials, also the 3 groups you mentioned were not even around there was no NWA and De La Soul & A Tribe Called Quest they came on the scene 6 years later also you're incorrect about De La Soul bringing afrocentricity to hip hop that title would be The Jungle Brothers or Public Enemy who brought conscious lyrics to hip hop.
Kraftwerk are the pioneers of electro .. so basically one of the most influential bands ever .. Whodini was one of like no doubt, pioneers in their own right
i still have the vinyl of this hit my brother bought it in 1982 !! And i remember when we were little we made a little band with my brother and my sister trying to play this song with invisible instrument, so mythic !! We were listening to this everyday in the morning on a vinyl player !! i feel sad of grewing and being so far from the 80's... But... Good old days never die...:)
@ Vaughn Baskin - brother you know your rap history, I used to listen to the station growing up in NY & NJ... The good old days! This is classic, it will never die. Peace !🌆🌃👌
OH MY GOD I THINK I HAD A RAP ATTACK AND THEN WENT TO HIP HOP HEAVEN!!! This joint should be the official eternal anthem of hiphop. It's the purest essence of the art of rap. 10 thousand years into the future, this 12 inch and a turntable will be unearthed and played by a futuristic urban nerd. Whodini and Magic's wand will then cause global futuristic RAP ATTACKS!
Oh my GOD! Pure ammunition just for dancing! I’m invited and everybody is inviting by courtesy of MAGIC wand wants! Nice white suits, WhodigniTY created the clothing trends before MIAme VICE went to AIR, television wise. Thanks brothers Thanks.
one of the best rap groups ever!!!!!!!!!

#metoo (vinyl, that is)
The bad Boyz that shifted the genre. Whodini on the map forever.
This music started it all, where I learned all the funky moves on the dance floor which eventually led to break dancing thereafter...
They recorded this over seas when they met Thomas Dolby . He's the producer of this track
After 40 years, it's safe to say that was a decent combination :)
Vice City led me to this song!!!still jamming it in 2024
That song was all about Johnny "Chief Super Rockin' Sir Juice Mr. Magic" Rivas and his show "The WBLS' Rap Attack" back in 1983.
Thx brother
