    Occasionally I am lucky enough to be sent products/clothing free of charge by PR companies, meaning, I may not have paid for everything I talk about. I am not in ANY way obligated to mention these products and if I have done so, it is because I genuinely like them. I would NEVER talk about or show something I didn't genuinely love.
    Sometimes, I may be sponsored by brands for videos. I turn down 90% of sponsorship opportunities. I will not accept unless I love the brand/product already. All products/items will still have been chosen by myself, and the video concept will always be my own idea. I would never endorse a brand/product that I didn't truly love and believe in.
    I use affiliate links in the description box of this channel. This means I earn a very small percentage when you purchase a product I recommend- the same way a sales associate in a store earns commission when they help you select a product. People don't realize the benefits you have when you live with your parents/relatives until later in life: you can enjoy the money you are just beginning to earn, you can travel, you can invest in courses, in your passions, without the pressure of having to pay a huge rent every month (or living in a horrible area, because this is what you can afford). Also, you can put enough money aside to buy a house without taking out huge loans from the bank (and have to pay back until you're 60). I don't see why anyone would move out just to meet the expectations of others, there are families that really get along and live in harmony, it's a start in life that gives you many benefits (of course, if everyone involved is okay with that).
      I moved out from my parents' house at 30, when I bought my own apartment. Because I was able to put money aside, I took a loan for 10 years, instead of 30 (as most people do), and I also had enough money left to renovate it.

    It’s always interesting to me to see how different everyone’s life timeline is. I’m 26, married and own a home with my husband and we are discussing starting a family. And you don’t feel ready to settle down at the same age. And both timelines are totally fine and right for their respective person! There is no one right timeline for everyone to follow. Idk it’s just cool to me the way everyone is so different anyway!
    Congratulations Freddy. I’m so excited for your next chapter. Enjoy every moment. You’ve earned this. I can’t wait to see your gorgeous new flat

      You're right I will say though, I think society has progressed to where it's no longer shameful to live with your parents if you're still in college however, there is this expectation that once you finish school you should find your own place. But like you said it's our lives and we're the ones who set limits and timelines for ourselves.

    Freddy, you are most definitely NOT selfish when you want to live alone at your place. I did the same with my house, it was MY house so my bf and I where separated a whole year from each other, but it was honestly one of the best years I had. You learn so much from living on your own & run your own life.
    After a year I decided it was all good and then my bf moved in with me, which I am totally okay with now. But you have to give yourself time to learn from yourself and (hopefully later) accept that your house is going to be a house for you and JJ together. It took me months to get used to the idea of living together so definitely don’t rush that either! I wish you all good luck! 🥰

    Freddy, it is common practice in the US for the child to move out once they complete high school around 18 and go to college, but in Hispanic culture (my family is Mexican 🇲🇽) it’s standard to stay in the family home until engagement/marriage! There is nothing wrong with staying at your parents at 26 and is absolutely the smart thing to do if you have the opportunity! Congratulations on your new flat and I’m so looking forward to your new content! 🤩💕

    • @marajkak7447
      @marajkak7447 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Thank you for saying this! I love my family and we have very similar family standards to yours. I have been feeling embarrassed about it, since US has child moving out at 18. But I’ve been saving to move out, I will be building my house(without a spouse) this summer!

    • @clANAnett
      @clANAnett 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@marajkak7447 I think it’s great that you’re saving to move out, that’s 100% the smartest thing to do because living expenses are not cheap!!!! I wish I had that opportunity myself, but I have younger siblings and our house is small so I deff need my privacy! 😂 Don’t feel embarrassed or ashamed! I wish we could end the stigma of “people who stay at their parents after 18 are lazy, unemployed people” when that’s not the case at all! Girl, it will all be worth it when you put your down payment on your new house, and there is no shame in that! 😊

    • @kmelia_
      @kmelia_ 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Same here in Malaysia. Culture is that we dont move out until we get married (typically) unless you can afford to stay alone. Plus property value here in crazy expensive. Honestly don’t think I can afford to get a house until I’m 40.

    • @wonderland2023
      @wonderland2023 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The age one moves out if by choice varies. It seems girls with a supportive family really should not move out at 18 these days anyway unless they are wealthy. It is dangerous a d at best you get in relationships that are not the best. I'm from California and depending on education etc. as well as how you get along with family, a early move out isn't that smart. If you must obviously it can work. Everyone is so different.

    Freddy! I love that you and JJ have such serious and in depth conversations about your future and that you guys are mature enough to decide for yourselves the pace of your relationship, instead of caving to other people/society’s expectations! My boyfriend and I just moved in together this month after almost 4 years of being together. People have asked us why it took us so long even though we saw each other almost everyday and lived just down the street from each other for the past 3+ years. They asked why didn’t I just give up my place and move in with him. But I loved having my own place and living on my own! It’s a fabulous way to live! And I never wanted the reason that we move in together to be because of money when we could both afford to live on our own. You will have such an amazing time deciding and picking out things for your home, knowing it’s all yours ❤️ congrats girlie! You should be so proud of your work ethic, your ambition and your self discipline! ❤️

    It's honestly so refreshing to hear how responsible and mutually respectful you and JJ are in your relationship. You understand each other and are okay with taking things slow because, as you said, you're thinking about the long term rather than rushing things. I feel like there's so much pressure now to move in with your SO earlier and earlier, and as a nearly 20 year old I think it's awesome that you're showing young women that they can go it on their own before "settling down" (which is a weird concept, because you can be perfectly settled living by yourself or with your family).

    In Hong Kong a lot of people live with their family even when they are in the thirties. The housing price here is absolutely crazy and it’s not like that young people do not want to move out, but the price is almost impossible be reached. That being said, Chinese culture does not encourage children to move out though. Some people may think it’s in their responsibility to stay with the family in order to take care of them.

      I’m from HK, you’re right. The situation is very different in Hong Kong. Both from a cultural and practicality perspective...Children are expected to take care of their parents in old age and most tend to live together. It is especially normal to live at home until marriage. It’s just the culture. Was surprised to find out how different it is in the west.

    I went to university on loans and I've been renting for five years. My goal is to build a tiny home out of an old school bus by growing my inheritance. Living your life the way people expect you to REALLY costs you nowadays, I did want to go to university though so I'll accept responsibility for that hit. Working from the age of 17 would have been the smarter move for me :/

    Congrats, Freddy! It's nice you were able to focus on saving for a flat! I am too, currently. At 30, I live with my parents! I did move out to another city for work but even that was only at 28, I'm back home now due to Covid. It's totally normal in Asia. In fact, parents never want us to move out and if we do, they move back in with us when they're older, we don't believe in homes or care takers..

  • @dreamwhale5304

    Honestly growing up in an Asian household living with your parent is quite normal(occourse you would contribute financially or by other mean(such as cleaning etc)...don’t be a bum:)) but I don’t understand why people shame others for choosing to live with there parent

      @@jungkookbb3903 that's true but that's not what they said. They just mean that a lot of people see it as a negative thing to live with your parents as an adult.

      Same thing for Hispanic households. I'm 28 and live with my parents, but I pay them rent and buy my own food, do my own errands etc. There's a mentality in a lot of other cultures to stay with your family until you're married, and everyone shares the burden of rent and expenses. But it is frustrating that there's a stigma attached to it for people that don't understand it's just part of our culture.

I think your hundred percent right, most folk rush into things as if there’s some time limit and don’t allow themselves time to just live in the now . That when they are in the now a time they were forcing themselves to rush they then feel overwhelmed.
