Yesterday’s episode was supposed to drop on Wednesday they just had some trouble getting it thru TH-cam. They said their GOT schedule is Wednesday and Fridays ❤
Dany is not manipulating Khal Drogo. Drogo had no interest in going to Westeros even when Dany was talking to him about the Iron throne! The only reason Drogo want's to go there now, is because they tried to murder his wife and unborn son! Not cause Dany manipulated him! He loves Dany, but he's doing it more for his unborn son! He did say:" I will give my SON, the Iron chair!"
When it comes to armies, it looks like this: As you probably already know, we have 8 main regions ruled by 8 great families: - North (House Stark of Wintefell) - Riverlands (House Tully of Riverrun) - The Vale (House Arryn of the Eyrie) - Westerlands (House Lannister of Casterly Rock) - Iron Islands (House Greyjoy of Pyke) - Stormlands (House Baratheon of Storm's End) - Reach (House Tyrel of Highgarden) - Dorne (House Martell of Sunspear) And now all these families are the main families in particular lands, but not the only ones. In each of these regions there are many smaller and larger houses and the system works in such a way that all smaller houses swear allegiance to the larger one ruling a given region (For example, all other houses of the North take an oath of allegiance to House Stark because it rules the North and so in every land). These remaining houses are actually "bannermans" of the larger ones, and it was their bannermen that Robb called because they all swore an oath to Lord Stark of Winterfell. The Starks have their own soldiers, but the remaining Northern armies are under the control of the other houses depending on their residence, only all those Northern houses loyal to the Starks are to present themselves with their army on the orders of the Lord of Winterfell. This is how a full army is gathered. This is more or less the system in place in all 8 lands. There, each of the ruling families also has its own army, but it also has its own numerous bannermen, i.e. other families who come with their own armies at the request of the ruling family. Additionally, each of the 8 main houses ruling the individual lands I mentioned (even though they rule almost independently over their own lands) must swear an oath of allegiance to the king sitting on the iron throne in King's Landing in the Crownlands. So Robert and now it seems Joffrey. The king does not have his own large army and goes on major wars by calling on his bannermen, i.e. families loyal to him. So the hierarchy of this system is: 1. The most important thing in theory is the king on the iron throne sitting in King's Landing to whom all other houses must be loyal. I wrote in theory because these houses may be unfaithful and then rebellions against the throne break out, like 17/18 years before the action of the series, when during Robert Baratheon's rebellion supported by the Stark houses, Arryn and Tully, the Targaryen dynasty and the dethroned Aerys Targaryen, the so-called mad king, were overthrown. 2. Lords from the great 8 houses ruling individual regions (Starks, Lannisters, Arryns, Greyjoys, etc.). Theoretically, they are subordinate to the king, but they rule their own lands independently and have other families under them. 3. All smaller or larger regional families. Regardless of the region, the residences are subordinate to the ruling house (e.g. the Bolton, Umber or Glover houses as the Northern houses are subordinate to the Stark house, etc.) It looks something like this. It's important to realize that Westeros is much bigger than it may seem. The North is not only Winterfell (it is the capital of the North because it is the seat of the ruling Stark family), but it is just one of many locations and castles in the North.
This was good and so well written!! Definitely helped me understand the dynamics better and I’ve watched this show and watched reactions multiple times!
Great comment, a couple things though, 1 It's Westeros, not westerland lol and 2 the pleural of bannerman is bannermen not bannermans, just like the pleural of man is men not mans lol other than that great comment
Also Kings Landing and Casterly Rock are both in Westeros, don't know if you knew that or not since the only house you named to be in Westeros was House Lannister.
Def a cutie, Im really enjoying and getting caught up. Then I'll hit all ur movies. Appreciate the work u put in and the amazing way u r clocking most of the characters. I'll def try and leave comments on each vid to help ur algo's just know at times it may just be emoji's cause some days my illness makes it hard to type. Wow. I’m so happy to see another video this week. It’s been a very stressful week and to see your video this morning made me feel so much better. Silly I know. You two remind me so much of my children and I rarely get to see my kids. So it’s like watching with my kids and for someone who is alone all day makes me feel like company came over. Love every video keep up the great job. Love and prayers
Jon’s wolf Ghost wasn’t trying to get out, he was trying to get in to save Jon. Jon told him to stay while he went inside to the Lord Commander. The dead man slammed the door when he went in and locked Ghost out.
Robb's Northern army of 18,000 isn't facing 20,000. Tywin told Jaime he gets command of *half* the Lannister army... one half was said to be 30,000.. which must mean Tywins half is another 30,000.
In the books, after Ser Barristan left the throne room (either Joffrey or Cersei, I don't remember which) accused him of a treasonous act and sent guards to bring him back. He was never found, just a trail of dead guards killed by an unarmed man. Just to give some context to how badass he was!
So happy to see these two episodes back to back. Hope you do the same with the next two. Also “have you ever known a horrible person to seize power and not be worse?” What a fantastic insight Mr October 👏
I know other people have commented this- butits the first time I noticed it. Your knowedge of the GoT univerese is waaaaaay better than mine the first time I watched it through. Really impressed guys. Thank you for your reactions on TH-cam. I know I appreciate it as much as your MCU ones.
16:03 "He didn't even tell his wolf to do that." "He didn't have to." He really didn't. I have a highly protective dog and they can feel their person's energy and respond accordingly. When I look out my window and see cops harassing homeless people across the street, I don't say or do anything to outwardly indicate my feelings. My dog is standing by my side, unable to see out the window, yet growling for no other reason than I'm feeling angry.
I recommend using the map of Westeros to find out where everyone is (for example, when Robb Stark was discussing his army's movements). The map makes it very easy to navigate the world ;)
Yeah, I’m really surprised they haven’t pulled one up on their phones. It only takes 5 seconds to do it & is so helpful for getting an overall picture of what’s happening & where all the families are etc.
Great job, as always! I'm seeing some comments about Sansa's behavior, and I'd like to float a theory of mine. Yeah, Sansa was giddy about marrying Joffrey from the beginning, but I think at this point she's completely unmoored. And - here's the theory - I think it's because they killed her wolf. I think the dire wolves are kinda connected to these characters in a soul-like way. And I think once Lady (Sansa's wolf) is killed, any true independent spirit kind of went out of her, at least for now. Just my thoughts...
You guys are great! There are reactors who don’t really care and they use GoT to grow their channel but in turn they don’t understand that characters are complex and it makes me sad because the world and characters are so amazing. I really love that you guys are picking up things and are understanding the content! I hope you enjoy the rest of the series! ❤ btw Dany and Drogo are really in love lol
22:30 Yes, Robb is currently with the army where Catelyn comes from, i.e. in the Riverlands. There are also Lannister troops in the Riverlands, including Jaime's army which, as we have heard, is besieging Riverrun, the seat of House Tully. This conversation is about the war plan, the name Riverlands did not come out of nowhere and as it indicates, there are many rivers in this land, including the largest thing in Westeros, the Trident. Robb must cross the river with his army, and the only crossing in the area is under the control of House Frey of the Twins. House Frey is the richest house of the Riverlands and, thanks to their control of the river crossing, they collected customs and became very wealthy over the years. House Frey is a House of the Riverlands and is technically sworn to House Tully of Riverrun (where Catelyn comes from), but as Catelyn herself said, some people take their oaths more seriously than others. Lord Frey, as we hear, is more of a pragmatist who, despite his oath, has not yet identified himself on either side.
12:50, Ghost is trying to get in, not out! Ghost led Jon to the Lord Commander's quarters, and when they walked in, John told Ghost to stay in the anteroom. Jon walked through the next open doorway into the Lord Commander's main quarters. The wight was in the main quarters, standing behind that open door. As the wight came for Jon, it's body shoved the door shut, keeping Ghost stuck back in the anteroom. Ghost was trying to get in to help.
I am really enjoying your channel. I've tried many different GOT reaction channels because I love the source material and love to see how others react. Your channel is great. They had a lot of plans to kill Robert. One of them was the melay (too fat for your armour). Next, they gave him "strong wine" knowing that Robert would get super drunk. They had no way of knowing there would for sure be a boar, but they knew hunting is dangerous, especially if you're not sober. Riverrun is Catalyn's childhood home. Osha is the Wildling woman's name (Tonks from Harry Potter.)
You two are doing such a great job. Your understanding of the GOT universe and its characters are just growing with each reaction.I can really tell how invested you've become. You are in for a wild ride. If you think its getting intense right now, you aint seen nothing yet
Jaime is sieging Riverrun, the seat of House Tully (Cat's family). Tywin is commanding a separate army looking to attack the North's amassed forces when they cross into the riverlands. Riverrun is the "capital" of the riverlands, the area directly south of "the North" but not technically part of the North.
Btw The implication was that the wine the king was offered profusely by the Lanister boy was maybe laced with something to make him more insensible which is extremely dangerous when hunting big game that can kill you like Wild Boar.
Varys on King Robert and the wine, the boar and mercy, that's not the point. Yes, it was a boar, yes he was drunk, but Ned's MERCY for Cersei's 3 children and Robert himself "killed" him, his legacy, his name. the kingdom,... the REALM Varys loves so much....
Fun Fact: There is replica of Gandalf's sword from LOTR in the iron Throne. It's seen behind on the right of the person sitting in the throne (left from our pov). @23:28 it has a Jewel in the hilt.
Love your thoughts on Cersei. She told her son that when you're in charge, the truth is whatever you say. It is totally a straw house. She understands the illusion of power. She rips the piece of paper. She tells Sansa she can save her family. She is constantly throwing around her own perceived power and deconstructing others.
It's good to see another reaction so soon. Bit surprised you didn't know who Pycelle was! I think you're being very harsh on a few people, but we still have two episodes this season to see how things may change. One thing I don't think many people appreciate about this episode is that it covers months and months of real time. (Real time that Ned spends in the Black Cells.) I mean, at the start, Robb hasn't even heard about Ned's arrest. Then he calls the banners. Then the bannermen come to Winterfell to plan. Then presumably they go back to their castles to get armies together. Then the armies march to join Robb. We hear of numerous battles, and Jaime's in the thick of it. And all of this is done with armies marching on foot. The show quite cleverly condenses these months in a few minutes of screen time. It doesn't quite match up, of course. Tyrion and Bronn presumably weren't wandering in the woods for months before meeting the Hill Tribes . . . and it's really not that far from the Eyrie to Tywin's camp in the Riverlands. We have to gloss over a few things. I'm really looking forward to next week!
Be careful in the comments, please. I saw some spoilers. Personally speaking, - whether you are right or wrong or anywhere in between, keep on speculating. I'm here for it. I hope some of the commentors will show more restraint and let the show tell you what is going on. PS: Nice pace on these reactions! Thank you!
Watching your reactions takes me back to the first time I watched the show - the opinions I had of characters at this stage pretty matched yours! I love how invested you guys are in the show 💜
DOWN VOTE SPOILERS! Let's help @TheOctobersReact avoid spoilers in the comments by down voting any subtle and/or obvious spoilers we come across. I have noticed more than a few spoiler-esque comments on these GoT videos. A lot if them are "explaning" why @theoctobersreact reaction to something happening in the episode was "wrong" 🙄 and using references/knowledge/context/information/etc. that hasn't been revealed yet. As someone who (1) has never read the books, (2) binged the first 3 seasons right before the S4 premiere, and (3) did zero 'research' on the show or plot to "better understand what's happening," I can confirm that the show [eventually] explains everything you *need* to know to understand, follow, and enjoy the story.
I just finished GOT series that's why I'm here again coz I thought I saw in ur list of video that u guys have some GOT reactions.. But please more of these like twice or thrice a week. I love ur reactions coz I'm like you when I watched these for the first time and I started this show like 3 days ago and I just finished it last night and feels like watching it again for the first time but with you guys so... 😂😊
It's near impossible to predict what characters will do in GoT, because the characters aren't guaranteed to survive long enough to do what you would assume.
Watch the scene again right after ned walked out of kings chambers after the boar when he was talking to varys and renly... varys says "who gave the king wine" the lannister boy... And the scene of the king in the woods walking and boar hunting.... the lannister boy" more wine your grace"... Eveb the smallest of dialog is important
7:40 - oh no, it's not about illusion. If Starks swear publicly to Joffrey - that's an oath. If a nobleman breaks the oath - that's shame and people will no longer trust them (and that can be deadly). So swearing fealty is capitulating.
I think in the books its explained that Cersei had Lancel give Robert strongwine on the hunt, which is fortified and much more potent than regular wine, like brandy.
"Shenanigans" was an excellent word for the political drama down South. Reminded me of Super Troopers... and it fits because they're acting about that smart with a threat looming way up North.
The fencing master for Arya, Syrio Forel, is from Bravos. Its people are called Bravosi. It is difficult to kill that which is already dead. They should have listened to Jon Snow. The Wildling woman has a name. They just haven't revealed it yet. With the death of King Robert Baratheon The Game of Thrones has truly begun. But there are more great houses than just Stark and Lannister.
Great job, as always! A thought about Varys, the bald spymaster. He has said, I think a few times, that he serves "the realm". I think to him that means, in every situation, he will do whatever he thinks is BEST for the realm, short of sacrificing himself (he is, as he says himself, no hero). Not what's best for the Lannisters, or the Starks, or any other House or group - what's best for the realm. And I think he very much has his own opinions as to what's best, and that's his guiding light. He is, in my opinion, one of the 3 smartest people in Westeros (I won't name the other 2, but lots of folks would probably agree on the names...) Looking forward to the next episodes!!
Oh! Two episodes in two days, we are spoiled! ❤ the need to binge is strong 😂
Yesterday’s episode was supposed to drop on Wednesday they just had some trouble getting it thru TH-cam. They said their GOT schedule is Wednesday and Fridays ❤

They confirmed last episode and this episode that they gave him the wine intentionally so he could die in the hunt. After Ned threatened her.
Oooh thankyou for the fast uploads
Lol no, the wife is right. There was a conspiracy against Robert...
Btw The implication was that the wine the king was offered profusely by the Lanister boy was maybe laced with something to make him more insensible which is extremely dangerous when hunting big game that can kill you like Wild Boar.
You guys are really getting into it. And just in time, I might add. Well, you're doing a great job, so ignore the complainers, and keep it up.

Watching your reactions takes me back to the first time I watched the show - the opinions I had of characters at this stage pretty matched yours! I love how invested you guys are in the show 💜
So you're thinking that Daenerys is manipulating Khal Drogo when she calls him "My moon and stars"?
Sun and stars, moon is wife of sun - it is known. ;-)
It is known
Nate Diaz always getting his face punched in tho.
Ooh Christmas early lmaoo!
Thank you for your hard work.
Cheers 🥂
What do we say to the god of folding laundry? NOT TODAYYY! ;)
Thank you so much for posting this early, the excitement is so real!
I love how invested you are now :) looking forward to more! You've got a big storm comin'. Lol
Keep it up!🇬🇧🙏
the wildling girl's name is Osha, if you ever do the Harry Potter movies she plays a character named Tonks in the last 4 {I think} films
It feels like Christmas 🎁, getting two episodes back to back! Thank you 😊🌸
Thanks for the episode! Wasn’t expecting it this early!
Oh wow hello summee children 😂. I was just frolicking about looking for you.
The wildling woman's name is Osha, played by Natalia Tena who also played Tonks in Harry Potter.
🐉 📺 🐺 💓 🦁
Even the Hound grabbed his sword when Ser Barristan drew his, with all those men between
33:33 with the lanisters fear is power and with the starks trust is power
Another great episode. I saw that 9 and 10 will come next week. Have you decided what you're doing as far as History and Lore? Just curious
That's the plan! 😊
@@TheOctobersReact So you will be reacting to History and Lore?
It's near impossible to predict what characters will do in GoT, because the characters aren't guaranteed to survive long enough to do what you would assume.
You guys are amazing!
I dont think its ever explicitly stated but Roberts wine was drugged in made him an easy target while hunting
31:04 is right where we all were at this point. You get just as much as you're supposed to.😉 It's a great ride, enjoy!
I think in the books its explained that Cersei had Lancel give Robert strongwine on the hunt, which is fortified and much more potent than regular wine, like brandy.
dont listen to any haters, yall BOTH doing great with the reaction! this show is starting to heat up, get ready for a wild ride!
I think you're doing a great job, I enjoy your reactions!
Xmas coming early 🙌🔥🍻
Yooooo y'all don't trust anybody! 😂 I love it
Most of the time the Lannister cousin would ask Robert if he wanted more wine. That's pushing it on him.
The other houses in the north swore fealty/allegiance to the Starks of Winterfell (i.e they're sworn to be loyal to the entire Stark family)
Another great reaction!! I really look forward to them.
Great reaction.
Thanks! 😊
my two favourite Summer children 💯🔥 your reactions, vibes and reviews are fun to watch. keep going!
Dear Octobers,
Your words move me.
😊😬😊
Tywin already attacked Caitlyn house they are the river lords. Where Robb needs to go is one cat dad bannerman who didn’t help initially.
"Shenanigans" was an excellent word for the political drama down South. Reminded me of Super Troopers... and it fits because they're acting about that smart with a threat looming way up North.
FYI I did sub to the channel you suggested and he is kinda fun so far 👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸🤠
I'm forever going to think of drogo as fighting like nate diaz.
😂😂 similar fighting styles
She’s (Cerci) is the queen in 300 also
4:55 I mean varys kind of all but said it a few moments before this
The fencing master for Arya, Syrio Forel, is from Bravos.
In the books ser barriston is described that despite his age he is still top 3 swordsman who ever lived
Great reaction again!!! The pointy end one of greatest episodes on the first season....
He is, in my opinion, one of the 3 smartest people in Westeros (I won't name the other 2, but lots of folks would probably agree on the names...)
Looking forward to the next episodes!!
In cerceis defense, she only reacts to people that dont let her be.
Mrs. October is correct. Lancel got Robert drunk and that's why the boar killed him. It wasn't an accident.
I guess, but if Lancel wasn't there wouldn't Robert have someone else giving him wine?
I've got a puggy too! Greatest dogs ever!!
awww tell your pug we said hello!
@@TheOctobersReact❤
It's all about the illusion indeed.
Unless it's magic.
Mrs. October conspiracy theory about the King's hunting death is not misguided
