    Can you please also give an indication of likely salary during the 4 years of AEP pathway? I know fellowship salary would be 60-80k roughly which could be tricky to live on for a family in some states, if you work as faculty is the salary higher? Thank you Dr :-)

    • @AnesthesiaGuru
      @AnesthesiaGuru  ปีที่แล้ว

      When assuming the role of a fellow, the compensation will correspond to the fellow salary. Conversely, when taking up the position of a faculty member, the base salary will align with that of other US trained faculties, which notably surpasses the fellow salary

    Thank you for the video. Can you please explain what is a faculty clinician in the USA? is a faculty clinician allowed to provide anaesthesia services or is it only a teaching role? I want to explore my options entering through clinician educator pathway but this requires us to be already working in the USA as a faculty clinician it says on the ABA webiste. Also while we work as a clinician educator would we be working as a resident or an attending especially those who have completed training from UK, Singapore, Australia?

    • @AnesthesiaGuru
      @AnesthesiaGuru  ปีที่แล้ว

      I mean faculty as a generic term for a physician affiliated with a university. Before a person is a faculty they are typically a clinical anesthesiologist and faculty in this context is an additional bonus with a university title like assistant professor, associate professor etc. While working as a clinician educator pathway the alternate pathway candidate is not considered residency. This applies to candidates irrespective of the country of training

      @@AnesthesiaGuru so staying out of United States how can we look for vacancies in a faculty post (is it same as applying for a clinical fellowship)? do we just need to write to program directors with our CV stating our interest to eventually enter the AEP program and ask for a faculty position? As you said in your video we do not require USMLE for research and faculty posts in the USA, what about those who want to work initially as faculty and then enter via clinician educator pathway do they require USMLE?

    Hi Dr! How competitive is the alternative pathway for a UK trained graduate?

    • @AnesthesiaGuru
      @AnesthesiaGuru  ปีที่แล้ว

      The standards required by American Board of Anesthesiology is very high. It is mostly about finding a hospital that can sponsor the position. It is unlikely a candidate will be competing with other candidates but more so depends on how strong the candidate's background and CV is

      Dr. Reddy, i am good thank you. This is how i would approach your situation. Take a step back and think why you want to go to USA, for a fellowship or to settle in the USA.
      Lets say you want to do a fellowship and go back. Then you can complete the USMLE step 2 get ECFMG and then apply for a fellowship. After this options are 1. return back to Karnataka or India 2. Do Residency
      Lets say you want to do residency. Then you still have to do USMLE Step 2 get ECFMG certification. Apply for residency or do fellowship and then for residency. Honestly, the research and fellowship pathway in the alternate entry path program is very competitive and with one publications and may be a few more in the next few years may not pull you up significantly. This is based on my analysis of what you are saying not seeing your CV
