I believe that Norman Greenbaum's fuzz pedal had a dying battery in it, which gives the fuzz tone on the original recording a certain quality that is one of the best guitar sounds of all time. One of the great one hit wonders this one.
That dying battery gave him a legacy

In my VERY humble opinion, Marty is playing it with a bit too much swing... Blues.. sounds like ZZ Top. It's right in time.
The original just sounds a bit... Off. A bit slow? And maybe it's the low battery voltage thing, too!??
I have the GrungeMuff effect on the G1X Zoom pedal and that sounds on the neck pickup like the original.

The skills with an electric guitar with Spirit In They Sky was so powerful in 1970, sounded like a mean sax. It’s so unique and futuristic. I wish I could listen to some more of this sax effect on a guitar with some blues or rock. It really blows me away!❤️❤️❤️

I only have a strat so whenever I see one of martys videos with a strat I click. No matter the song.
You know you can learn these songs on any guitar right? You can play anything you want on your strat, not just songs which uses a strat.
