100% correct.
Most at the time is not just a overdue.
It's more likely "SHOWING OFF" gear and money spent. Same is with those heavily overpowered vessel with ridiculously large engines.
A fish doesn't gives a damn about your engine power, rod manufacturer and the clothing you wearing.

That's the truth. I got a 52lb wahoo 20 miles off Atlantic City NJ in a 16ft 1967 starcraft aluminum with a 40hp 😂. The amount of butt hurt dudes in big sport fishers was amazing 😂😆😂

I can categorically say running outriggers on your boat will catch more fish. Not just saying that, tried and tested with 2 boats on the water fishing at the same time right next to each other. Yes, people will say it wasn't like for like but it was. Same lures, same spot, same speed. The boat with the outriggers caught 4x that of the one that didn't. I happened to be on the boat that didn't run outriggers. Fishing the right skirts at the right length in or out of the wash will make all the difference in your hook-up rate. I've had boats with and without outriggers and fished the same spot for years.
When the fish is on they're on. If you fish a lot they're usually not so I like to increase my chances as much as I can.

Congratulations on your boat. Yes 💯 I agree with your comments re more fish. If you have enough people on board with the skills to use them etc totally run the riggers

An entertaining video again Mark 🤔 I’m not sure I agree with some of your ideas but each to their own and our own ideas evolve over time as we learn more. When setting a spread I count as the lure goes out 20, 15, 10 and 7 this enables me to quickly set a spread before tweaking each lure. It also allows newbies to get involved in the process.
Yep that would definitely work also! Yeah I'm finding that when the conditions are generally right, the finer details matter less and you just need some good offerings in the water. Lures, live baits or skip baits. Am now very convinced that my teaser raises fish also

I think we always try for the 1% extras rather than just getting the absolute basics right. Some of the best days I've had out literally only had 2 lures in! And when the fish are there and angry, they will find them
@@BaitBallin Yep same, I just use 2 lures, I am in SA and go for Tuna off Cape Jarvis, 2 is all you need!
Great tutorial for tuna fishing beginners like myself. Fishing NSW coast for tuna what size hooks do you recommend, what speed do you troll at and what time of the year is the best? Thanks.
For tuna I prefer the Pakula dojo singles, light gauge, 25 or 30 size. Season depends on exactly where you are. Yellowfin come south, bluefin go north. Season seems to be starting a bit later and ending later. Yellowfin shouldn't be too far away now
Hello great info, you missed out about troll speed i would be interested in your opinion on speed of troll mostly for tuna i have 6" skirts. Always great videos
Hey same deal, what ever allows the lures to swim properly. A min of 5 knots but 7 or 8 is good!

Everyone has there own theory and ideas of what works and what doesnt. We used to put 2 small lures on the riggers and put them fair way back and 2 big lures in closer to the boat no teasers and when chasing big blue marlin there is one lure i seen get hit more then others the JB chopper in green lumo anyway good luck.
Yep totally agree!!! Plenty of formulas that work and just have to adjust to your own boat set up etc. But the well angled rod holders on the side of this boat are working well enough for us, for now...
Hey bud, im planning on chasing tuna this season for my first time on my own boat. Its no big dollar boat just a 5m quintrex sea wasp but have spent a year re doing the whole boat setting it up properly and I recently purchased outriggers though after watching many videos and researching I’ve learnt that alot like yourself just run 3 or 4 rods with no outriggers and have no issues with hook ups etc. I haven’t installed the outriggers as of yet but just confirming that if I simply run a shot gun and 2 from each corner straight back that that would be fine ? I’m not sure if the corner rods would be completely out of any wash but have also seen some run an elastic band to bring the lures deeper in more visible water. ? Any help would be really appreciated. Also great video, there needs to be more people helping others learn so everyone can enjoy themselves 🤙🏽
Hey, it doesn't matter if the lures are in the wash. You will get more notes using riggers in clean water, but it all comes down to what you can manage etc. with the tuna, typically run the lures further back then you would for Marlin and it will often be the shotgun then gets hit. Try running a skirted lure out long and some laser pros in close that will dive under the wash anyway.

Why do you not use the 2 rear rod holders when trolling?

They can but it totally depends on what rod holders, in what positions and what angles. Plus if you have outriggers or not.... Ideally you want your rods running at different widths and heights

Basically what ever rods I run, I spread them out to the max. All rod holders on the BC except the back ones angle outwards, so help spreading lures wider into cleaner water.

Tuna, run 190mm laser pros in close to boat. Or any position. For Marlin and tuna, Pakula Lumo sprockets out long.medium sized. Also the cup faced Pakula lures in dark purple, close to boat. Jetts lures also perform very well in similar Configs.

You forgot to mention the rubber band trick to keep you lures and line down lower if they not travelling through the chop very well 😉..
Mate, good stuff, unfortunately everyone has their own opinion when it comes to trawling, but whatever works for you and you're getting results and having fun doing it.
Of course!!!! The basic take away here is that I have found its far more about the conditions etc and having a few decent lures out the back. All the small tweaks I've tried over the years haven't amounted to much compared to just being on the water at the right time, in the right conditions
And the standard answer is no, we didn't catch bugger all off memory. Well nothing big enough to report anyway. In the average day we catch heaps of small fish which I don't bother filming of keeping
Another TH-cam guy said only run similar lures to mimic a school. Is that correct?
Yes it definitely helps to match lure colours and styles to local bait. But some colours just work better on the day. For example I've had 15-20 bites, multiple Marlin hook ups on single lure on single day and not another lure touched.
I run all my lures behind the prop wash. I found more success this way.
Hi BB don't agree with your single vs twin outboard theory and even twin screw most guys only trawl with one outboard with twin screw we also only run one motor when pulling swim baits only in rougher weather do we pull plastic with both motors.
Which part do you disagree with?
@@BaitBallin that single outboard is better than twin and that they put out a greater prop wash when most only use one of the two to trawl with. That is what we do and every other person I have fished with be it NZ, Africa, Australia and America
Hey wasn't meaning single was better entirely but soooo many trailer boats over here simply do not perform better with twins. They just don't carry the additional weight well and make the boats way too bum heavy and handle like rubbish. With these plate boats for example, literally none of the manufacturers I've spoke to reccommend a twin set up. Obviously if the boat can truly take it, twins are awesome. At the moment I have a duo prop set up which works very well indeed
@@BaitBallin yeah saw the Bertram good solid platform 👌 👏 I am personally a fan of there hulls mate has the carabian 2300 up in airly Beach with twin Suzukis 😀 on the back that handles awesome, but I'm running a large single which is over designed weight for hull just beefed up transom so I do understand that point of view, I have only ever been twice on a ally hull and my knees hated me for it wish you the best with your new boat

We’re all family here so no disrespect to likeminded intended… dragging lures around for fish is “trolling” in English.
“Trawling” is another thing, the intent mostly to polish the seabed whilst garnering and crushing as much nature as possible only to throw everything but a particular target species back. It is like sportfishing but for Norwegian bank-owned boats.

yes 'trawling' boats have decimated our local coast here over the years.... way too much by catch and damage to the environment to justify it
