These exact tyco models were my childhood. I had a black countach. My dad had a red one and a 911 turbo cabrio. We had so much fun, and still have the red one and the Porsche.

Thanks for the comment. These were/are pretty cool RCs. I would have loved to have had some back then. It’s cool you still have the Lamborghini and Porsche as they are hard to find in working condition and at a reasonable price.

@@2005silver my parents still had both in their garage. The black one, which was mine was destroyed when I was about 10 lol. I got a lot out of it though haha. My dad saw a video clip I sent him after I watched this one and told me he knew where the red one was and said it was in great condition, and that he would give it to me the next time I saw him. He literally just told me that right now. Pretty awesome! I think I’m going to maybe run it for a little bit but lock it somewhere safe where I can look at it through glass lol.

Would it be easy to just add a brushless set up in it and what set up do you think would be perfect for it, I know a guy that has one ,I think it's for sale, he kinda sales everything, I just never asked him yet, now after seeing this video, I am now for sure, just want to know how to go about upgrading it, to make him go wow ,

Awesome! I own 5 of the 1/12 Tcyo Lamborghini Countach just like yours, three red and 2 black. Pure fun and fast!

Nice. I have a few extra in varying condition myself. These 2 are the nicest ones. Such a cool vintage Rc.

@@DoubleCheekedupOnAThursday That’s cool. I’m sure it was so fun back then compared to other RCs. These get a bit expensive on eBay if in good condition and still work.

When I was 10, I cut grass at my mom's job, and killed bee hives for 10 bucks a pop in my neighborhood. I made good $ for a kid and bought the red one. I fried it in a puddle the next day...lol. Luckily I spent so much in toy's r us, they exchanged it for the black one, no problems. Eventually it broke but DAMN, I loved that thing.

The 1 thing I wish TYCO had made is a small scale remote controlled Delorean DMC-12.

This one is the pistol type. Not proportional, but has a 2 stage throttle.

That hobby grade lambo chassis looks exactly the same as the new 2023 1/14 scale LC RACING EMB-RA RALLY BRUSHLESS RTR RC car chassis .

I believe “Tacon” was a rebranded LC Racing Rc. I first bought a Tacon Rally in 2015 and a few others since then. I think I got the one in the video in 2017. Anyway, I really like the Tacon RCs.

I put a tyco porsche 962 twin motor on a local I door track. It was faster than the GT12 cars they rent out at 40% power 😅

Hey man, how do I remove the wheels off these cars? Is it only the front that removable since it has what looks like to be some pinned screw cover?

    • @2005silver

@@2005silver Its probably not doable, but tires can be removed, correct? Im sorry to bother you so much, but considering batteries, are new tech nimh the best and safest batteries to run on these vintage tyco RCs, dor are new old stock batteries the best and safest route? I hade a gens ace 5000 noimh battery overheat my hawk motor and kill it, but it was my nephew who toyed with the car and looked like he put the speed portion to max and it overheated cause it was stuck but controls were pushing up, however im no expert, so I come to you again; what's the coiwsensus on batteries. Thanks!

@@IISourAyyII The tires can be removed. I changed out some tires between a Lamborghini (in not the best shape) to a Ferrari 348 I have. I’ve used some modern 9.6v NIMH Batteries without any problems in my Tyco and Radio Shack Cars. I’d stay away from any LiPo Batteries with the old electronics. I don’t mind answering your questions. Always happy to share what I know.

@@2005silver That's much appreciated. I was thinking to swap out the chassis on the Lambo to the Ferrari 348, but it appears like the wheels/ rims can not be removed, and I wouldn't want a Frankenstein Fambo either, with wrong wheels and a base wing (unless you break or cut it off). I think I'm going to scrap parts from one to fix the other, I have a real strong beater lambo, engine roars like crazy, now I wonder if I can easily remove the tires since they're less bald. I'll let you know what I come up with.

I have a real Jones to build an old school Countach (and this aint helping;). I keep my eye on Ebay for one of those 1:24th motorized model kits to convert... I know it's gonna be tight with an interior, espesh the steering, the problem is I've done it before with a 66kph(speedchecker) 1:24 Aston Martin ...if it goes pear-shaped I'm blaming you Bubba =) (Dem cars was lush, btw)

Does anybody know a next step up from a 9.6v battery pack for that car .?

    • @2005silver
      @2005silver  2 ปีที่แล้ว

I believe the original 9.6v battery that came with the car was a NiCd. The 9.6v NiMH is a better battery. I would be hesitant to use anything of a higher voltage as to not damage the old electronics.
The modified version uses a modern esc, that I believe can handle a 3S Lipo. I just don’t have any 3S.
