Wowzers Cat!! The mountain weather changes so fast ,, the more elevation the faster it changes... I've driven 40+ years out here across our great nation and you always have to prepare extra for the mountains. Canned food, A few candles for heat if needed, heavy duty sleeping bag, mylar, xtra boots, layered clothes, insulated outer wear, waterproof everything. And always let your loved ones know where you are and headed to... Have a check in time for the end of the day or hike. I carry a tube of sand, a plastic gallon of ice melt and a flat short shovel with me in the wintertime. Awesome Awesome vid on the Sierras, beautiful scenery! Thanks!

The Eastern Sierra has been my playground for over 40 years. I have done a lot of hang gliding over the Sierras and the Whites. The first time I saw the top of Mt. Whitney up close was when I flew over it in my hang glider. I've fished everywhere there is to fish and explored everywhere there is to explore. Hiked all over and camped all over. I even used to have a Silver Claim north of Lone Pine and across from Manzanar. I've lived in Lone Pine, Bishop, Rovana, and June Lake. You capture the Eastern Sierra's beauty very well Cat. Perhaps we'll run into each other there some time because I still do a lot of playing around there.
@@CatherineGregoryAdventures Probably a few thousand...Perhaps more... The Owens Valley is the hang gliding capitol of the world. We take off at Walts Point which is just south of Whitney on Horseshoe Meadows Road. You should drive up there sometime. There are nice camp grounds at the top and you will go right by the place where we launch our gliders. If you go in the summer you can watch people run off the mountain. Walts Point has a huge rock with a plaque on it dedicating the road to Walt. He died during construction of the road. You can't miss it.

I’m glad to to see a current video, in 4K, with real people describing things that don’t always go to plan. Being flexible and enjoying the day regardless of plan is how you make a good day, great! Can’t wait to see more!
I remember playing frisbee with friends on a frozen Gull lake one ski trip (70's). We entered the ice right were you were standing! We liked June mountain back then for the lack of crowds. Black ice is awful. My experience was in Wrightwood (southern California) so you can find it in a lot of places. Even with all wheel drive it can get away from you - go easy stay off the brakes as much as you can! Another beautiful trip - June Lake Loop a favorite! Thank you!
Very Lovely photos and video. An experience like you had with a vehicle sliding out of control is indeed scary. I once was climbing a 14000 foot pass Colorado in June and in a shady spot I hit ice. Believe me, that slowed me down even more. I couldn't wait to get off that mountain. Thanks for all your nice videos. Keep having fun.
Wonderful to get a glimpse of the area in winter. It must have been do peaceful. I did a 180 up at Tahoe wine year and it was one of the scariest experiences of my life. It doesn’t matter what car you are driving in when you hit black ice. Just watch the weather and go when it’s been dry for a while. Still be careful driving in the early morning as the snow melts during the day and then the water freezes at night
Hi Catherine, as always, I enjoyed your video very much and I thought that the food shots were an unexpected highlight for me. I remember whenever I would end a camping adventure that I would especially enjoy and anticipate that first restaurant meal...looking forward to your next video. Kelly
