Everybody saying that the smoking areas are so far away from main paths that they don’t affect anyone... ...Y’all ever been to the Italy pavilion? It’s right freaking next to the main path.
John DArcy Not what I meant. They could take out some of the less secluded smoking areas, or box them in. I was just pointing out that they aren’t all out of the way, and that some of them are easily encountered by non-smokers, some of whom have medical respiratory conditions, just trying to stroll by.
As a former smoker, I can sympathize with being shunned farther and farther in the abyss. The smoking sections are few and far between. Keeping the smoking responsible and in these areas seemed to work for most everyone.
Took too long for them to ban smoking in my opinion! As a kid i hated walking by the smoking permitted sections and it was so terrible, kids shouldn’t be exposed to that and i would’ve thought Disney would be ahead of the curve and ban them a long time ago.
Honestly, the Galaxy’s Edge reservations rule is so smart, like I actually think that they should use this more around the park Edit: and I’m gonna be there for the food and wine festival so, excited for the food, cant have the wine hehe
I was thinking that, too. If they could get the more popular ones to put people in a queue, that could cut down on the whole line waiting. They could give you a 15 and 30 minute notification to get over there. Then they could spread this out to any with long lines, as needed.
@@jennycraigadventures3314 It might be done by groups, so that one group is there at a time and they all have to leave before the next group enters. At the end of that window, it’s going to take a REALLY long time to clear all those people out, and are you going to yank people who are still in line for a ride, or to pay for merchandise? I'm so happy the Food and Wine festival is getting extended! I'll be there in that window with my boyfriend, and I didn't think we'd be there during the festival. It's one of my favorite events during the year, and since it will be his first time ever at Disney, this will make it extra special!
The smoking ban is WONDERFUL in my opinion. Hope to get a "Mickey Through The Years" refillable mug when I visit WDW but since we're visiting in September 2020, they might be gone by then.
Me and my family are going to Disney for my birthday and every time we are go the smoking areas are right in front of the food courts in the All-Star resorts. So, thank you for the info
Love the idea of a virtual queue system. I'd really like to see Disney make more use of this around the parks where you can check in and "wait" while exploring other things and then come back when your wait time is over.
I do like them finally banning smoking, however I know from experience that when you ban smoking it just makes people who have no control sneak it. I'm curious to see what happens in the near future, I can see people try to sneak in bathrooms or behind buildings.
What's the logic in banning loose ice? Dry ice I can understand because people can burn themselves easily if they handle dry ice wrong, but what's wrong with regular ice??
I imagine its because normal ice can make a huge mess if an issue happens, such as a container of ice spilling everywhere, or a soaking wet bag from some sort of leak Dry ice is prohibited i feel, beyond the fact that it will seriously freeze your fingers if not handled properly, but if in a closed container for long enough it might cause enough pressure to blow. And a loud sudden noise erupting from someones bag is not what you would want to happen in disney
I heard it's because it's hard for security at bag check to search a cooler filled with ice. People could be consealing something underneath all the ice. Another reason I've heard is because people just dump their (half-)melted ice wherever they're standing, creating a mess and safety hazard (other guests slipping on ice).
That actually does make sense, it would suck to have to search through freezing wet coolers, especially huge ones, to see if someone is smuggling something
I would assume that it makes things easier for security not having to dig through your coolers full of ice. Ice packs are still acceptable and very reasonably priced outside the world. A small adjustment really.
It's the usual case of people abusing exceptions and being stupid about it. You'd have people bringing it huge coolers packed with ice and I personally saw someone spill a giant cooler of ice and ice and water spilled everywhere and then they just left
they need to put speed Governor on the hoover rounds (electric wheel chairs) too!!! we have also been ran over by the over sized strollers & wagons!!! Also thank you for all the great info and updates!! 88 days till our trip
I know this is a food channel at the end of the day, but it's v surprising that the Colourpop collections with Disney has never been mentioned on here! They just released a highly evolved Villians collection (the Villians extra hours thing reminded me of it) and it's gorgeous! There are 2 collections they have put out in 6 months and they're beautiful! I'm 99.99% sure both collections are sold at the parks and Colourpop is famous for being super affordable, which Disney, we all know, is famous for being expensive. I feel like the older croud of Disney Park fans watch this channel (I'm 28 so what do I know) and I think it's something they don't know about! Colourpop is super high quality affordable make-up that's great for anyone of any age! They also have really fun glitters that would be perfect for younger girls. It's not play make up and would make a great addition to any Disney and/or make up collector! 💕
LOVE the smoking ban. Nothing was worse than walking around, hot sweaty, walk around that one area near BTMRR and you get big massive smell of burnt tobacco because there'd always be half a dozen people there.
It's also great for people who are allergic to the smell or have bad lungs. Even more so when they banned vaping too. (allergic being that the scent can cause migraines.)
As someone with severe allergies and lung problems, this makes me so happy. I have to wear a mask everywhere to protect myself and I’m glad that smoke in the park is something I shouldn’t have to worry about anymore

I'm not too sure if everyone understands what this new smoking rule will mean. Previously most of the smoking areas were in ideal places (most not all, they could have better). So, now people will either force themselves to not smoke during they're time at the park (you are crazy if you think anyone will quit just for a couple hours in a theme park), which will result in many more irritable parents, and guests in general. ORRR (the more likely option) people will simply find a place where there aren't too many employees and just light up where they stand, rather than going to an area that was previously out of the way. Those of you who smoke (or just have logic) will understand this, those who don't, will think that this rule is somehow a good thing for them. This is reality, and if you don't believe me, wait until you find yourself in a dark corner with someone trying to sneak a cig.
I could be wrong, but I estimate that after this new rule is fully implemented even MORE people will be subject to cigarette smoke. We will see though.
The truth is simply that Disney knows hordes of people are going to descend on the parks once Galaxy's edge opens, and they are trying desperately to thin that out by hoping to discourage some visitors from coming. There are too many visitors already at certain times of year, making it a less enjoyable experience for all. Unfortunately I think this is going to backfire on them terribly. For smokers who do follow the rules, it's going to mean longer lines at the gates for everyone to get through security, because smokers will have to go through multiple times a day. For the smokers who don't follow the rules, they will just light up and smoke wherever they can, and with no butt stops to dispose of them, the park is going to get dirtier, not to mention the smokers who will bring nicotine gum into the park, or just gum in general. Do you really think every single one of them will dispose of that stuff properly??? Or the third option will be that cast members will now have to deal with guests who are not only disgruntled about something, but going through withdrawal as well. They don't get paid enough.... As for the strollers, some parents with a lot of kids might just force them to walk. There are going to be so so many grumpy parents dealing with their grumpy ass tired kids... IDK, but I have a feeling this is just a very temporary solution. Time will tell, lol.
Agreed. People are just going to smoke in the bathroom stalls. Just like in highschool. No chance of smokers being half way across the park and going all the way back to the gate, smoke and go all the way back around again. Hell, by the time they get there they'll need to smoke again. Even the ones who try to follow the rules are probably going to be chewing gum to cope. And people are going to be stepping in gum all day, because people are assholes and not going to dispose of it properly. And Disney is likely going to lose employees at an alarming rate as well. No one is going to be paid minimum wage to repeatedly deal with pissed off addicts in withdrawal all day. All the people that are "happy" about the ban seriously don't understand addiction. This isn't going to go well.
@Cameron Taylor Amazing that these smokers can survive a plane flight to Disney without going off on the people in the plane or at the terminal...ALL of which have been completely non-smoking for ages. Your logic is severely flawed, I'm afraid.
@@gondorbunny Only 20% of Disney guests actually fly there. And that makes the smokers who flew there an even smaller percentage. Plus, most flights are only about 2 hours to Disney. Most smokers can suck it up that long (been doing it for years in movie theaters). So that makes the smokers who had long flights even smaller. And with a ban park wide and nowhere to smoke, that's asking them to either go all day without smoking or spend hours of their day walking back and forth to the front gate. People will risk getting caught to not have to go through that. I have worked for both Disney and Universal and even without the ban, guests would still smoke outside of the smoking areas, even though they were provided just because they were too far away. Addiction is strange beast. If it will make people steal from their mothers, then they will have no qualms about breaking rules in a theme park. The logic is still very sound.
What's crazy is I been to disney the same amount of times of my age and throughout those 20+ years at disney world I don't remember seeing anyone physically smoking at the parks. I remember smelling cigarettes which sucks but not seeing it
I went to Animal Kingdom yesterday...new rules not being enforced as far as I could see...oversized proms and smoking filled the air...hopping over to Disney Springs...smoking fest and not hiding but out in the open...
I’m so annoyed that Galaxies Edge is opening when we’re going, we deliberately booked a trip earlier so we would miss the huge crowds- typical 😂 We would have been better off going in October as normal! At least we can go to food and wine 🌟
Here’s the question regarding Ice. If your on vacation from somewhere not close and staying on Disney property where are you supposed to freeze your reusable ice bags? Will there be freezers now available in the hotel rooms (I’m guessing not) if you need to keep something cold you are SOL if you don’t have a villa with a freezer?
AJ I love these videos. I'm an annual passholder and I am very happy about the changes to the smoking policy. I understand that there is a lot of anger over it and quite a bit of people split on the topic, but I know people who died from smoking. I know what the end result is, and I also know that second hand smoke is very unhealthy. I know it is a very hard to kick addiction, and there isn't one person who doesn't have his or her own bad habit. But smoking is a bad habit that impacts the health of those around the smoker. The smoking areas were helpful, but unfortunately, smoke travels quite easily. I've seen people arguing that the areas were out of the way, but many of them were right next to major attractions and walkways. The worst was at the water parks, where the smoking areas could be smelled from the lazy River and other tube rides. Again, the health of all individuals is being guarded by removing smoking. I have seen a lot of hostile comments on this matter, and even had someone say something rude to me about me being "entitled" for being happy about there being no smoking in the parks. Breathing is a right, not an entitlement.
I asked my smoker friend who actually first told me about the change if it would change how often she visits. Nope she’ll visit just as often. And that’s what Disney was probably banking on. Smoke and clouds of douche fog are not stopped by the boundaries of a designated smoking area. Why allow an activity that detracts from others enjoyment when not allowing it won’t change attendance?
Thinning out the crowd with no smoking...lolll. I'm not a smoker, but the smoking areas were so far from the path that I never smelled any tobacco every time I go which is pretty much every month. No vaping either? Lolll. Vaping does not smell like anything. What's the rationale for that one?
I’m going to WDW in the middle of August, I wish I could be there during the Epcot food and wine festival but I am happy I’ll miss the craziness of galaxy’s edge opening

DAAAAAAAMN IIIIIIIIIT. I really wanted to go to Mizner's Lounge in June. I heard they even have a cigar smoking patio and I wanted to have a cigar while I'm on my honeymoon. Cool about the Yacht and Beach Club cabanas, though. We already booked a cabana at the Grand Floridian, but we're staying at the Boardwalk. Maybe I'll call and see if I can change my reservation if the ones at Yacht and Beach are still available. I'm guessing this would get us access to Stormalong Bay for the day? Which would be rad. I mean my plan was to go to Mizner's Lounge after we get kicked out of our cabana and now THAT'S not going to happen...
I quit recently not because of the ban, but it did play into the decision....I quit because I wanted to spend the whole day with my kids and it was a long time coming. Also I don’t want lung cancer when I’m 70. Take the plunge and cold turkey it. You will live.
I can't believe that there really are people angry that they have to leave the parks to smoke. The wagons were always against policy (anything made to be pulled behind a guest is prohibited) but it is now being strictly enforced. BTW AJ has The Juice! Literally days after she makes a vid about the need for a Villians event, we announce that Disney After Hours at MK will be Villians After Hours for the Summer months!
As a smoker I get it, it blows, but if going all the way back to the entrance is what I have to do than that's what I'll do. It really doesn't bother me unless they say you have to go way past that that, I don't mind following the rules and all the smokers complaining will adjust, just like they/we have to every other smoking rule, it will just take time to get used to, but we'll manage.
Thank goodness they finally Banned smoking! Sometimes when my mom would be at the park and she needed a smoke so bad that she couldn’t be bothered to search for the nearest designated smoking area so she’d just go off in a not very populated area and smoke(she mostly did this so she wouldn’t be caught by cast members). Honestly we got off the nighttime safari at animal kingdom back in 2016, and she needed a smoke so she just went to a empty queue area and told me to keep an eye out for any cast members so that she doesn’t get caught. I was walking away from her cause I don’t wanna breathe in that shit I already have to breathe it enough at home and I panicked cause I saw a cast member near by and I thought that, if my mom got caught smoking in an non designated smoking area, that she would be kicked out and banned from the park and that since I’m her kid and was with her when she did that, I fear that my mother’s addiction would cause me to never be allowed in Disney again. Thankful non of that happened and I can’t remember if the cast member caught her or not but, the fact that I was scared of being punished for being associated with her and her addiction just really shows how fucked mom was being for not just waiting till she could find a gosh darn designated smoking area like your supposed to! I’m just so glad that no one will have to put up with accidentally breathing in cigarette smoke in Disney anymore, heck the ones that will benefit the most from this smoking in parks ban are the kids of said smokers who are usually stuck being around their parent(s) in a spot filled with smoke for an Undesignated period of time(cause whenever my mom finds a fellow smoker at hotels she strikes up a long ass hell conversation with them because there aren’t as many of them as they’re use to be)
just got back from Disney...............already dreaming of my next trip! also glad I won’t have to spend my precious ride time searching for a smokers area with my fiancé :)
I think all the people complaining about the smoking ban by saying it is hypocritical because disney has one more place to drink are hilarious. Last i checked nobody got second hand liver cancer by being next to someone having a margarita. Nor have i ever seen anyone drunk at disney because it’s monitored and cut off at the first sign of a buzz. Alcohol doesnt linger in the air for hours afterwards. And ive never seen someone walk through a cloud of alcohol and go into a coughing fit because they’re allergic to alcohol smoke. You can drink without bothering anyone but none of the same can be said for smoking. People are walking around their kids and you’re giving them cancer because you cant hold off the death sticks for a few hours. If you’re that reliant on cigarettes don’t go to places like disney.
Literally everything gives you cancer. And sure, you don't see all the examples you made, because you made them so ridiculous. What you will see because of alcohol is violent fights, already happening. What you see are drunk parents dragging their children along. Drunk driving. 1 in 3 people will be involved in a drunk driving crash and everyday 28 people die as a result of drunk driving, I haven't said anything about the mortality rates of just drinking... I think it's hypocritical of you to sit here and say anything when you clearly aren't informed. Drinking is much worse for you physically as well as it's a detriment to society. Smoking, not so much. And if your only real reasoning for this is because you don't want to smell it, well, don't go near it then. As a smoker I would never go around blowing my smoke in anyone's face, but most of you aft as though that's what smokers do.. every disney smoking section I've been to was always so far away from everyone... How in the world is the smoke getting to everyone else? Smoke doesn't linger outside. You are talking all crazy.
Also not taking into consideration that for some people smoking isn’t just a gross habit smoking can also provide relief for people with mental health problems. I’m dreading my visit because I know I will spend majority of the time overwhelmed and panicky with no relief. Think before you talk sometimes because you don’t know everyone’s reasons for doing the things you find disgusting 👌
a video idea that i think could be helpful for people is where your favorite of foods is in wdw. like where your favorite pizza is or where your favorite cookie is
I was hoping to go to Disney for the first time soon but due to a series of unfortunate events it looks like it may be a very very long time before I get to go.
Why not just restrict the Disney parks to guests 21 years and older? Children and teens have always been a nuisance. Disney Corp could rake in tons of billions of dollars by restricting the park to adults only guests. Just think of all the "After Hours" possibilities!
Have they actually said “later in the year” for Rise of the Resistance in Galaxy’s Edge? I’ve only read “later” which some have speculated to be much, much later so that they could essentially have a second Grand Opening maybe next year or beyond.

so because the smoking area in italy was so close to the main path they take them all away? shut up
John DArcy Not what I meant.
@Adam Efimoff you’ll live.
Took too long for them to ban smoking in my opinion! As a kid i hated walking by the smoking permitted sections and it was so terrible, kids shouldn’t be exposed to that and i would’ve thought Disney would be ahead of the curve and ban them a long time ago.
Oh well catch me smoking everywhere now
Jay Fe catch you getting kicked out of the parks
@@dean._.0.0 I've been multiple times and had crafty cigarettes without getting kicked out all I'm saying is now I wont be smoking in the areas at all
Honestly, the Galaxy’s Edge reservations rule is so smart, like I actually think that they should use this more around the park
Edit: and I’m gonna be there for the food and wine festival so, excited for the food, cant have the wine hehe
I was thinking that, too. If they could get the more popular ones to put people in a queue, that could cut down on the whole line waiting. They could give you a 15 and 30 minute notification to get over there. Then they could spread this out to any with long lines, as needed.
I’m kinda sad I’m going to be there 5 days after food and wine ends
It’s a great idea with one big question: How do they kick people out of SWGE when their reservation window is over?
@@jennycraigadventures3314 It might be done by groups, so that one group is there at a time and they all have to leave before the next group enters.
Of course, they could all have apps that start going crazy and they have to have a code entered (given at the exit) for the craziness to stop. :D Maybe it constantly plays The Imperial March while vibrating and flashing disco colors. Ha ha ha!
grondhero Say there’s a 2-hour window in the land. At the end of that window, it’s going to take a REALLY long time to clear all those people out, and are you going to yank people who are still in line for a ride, or to pay for merchandise? What about people who are in the middle of a meal? Do you take their food and drink away and throw them out?
15:37 my family bought one of those stones in 1985 and we were told it was permitted but if they had to be removed for some reason, they would be replaced someplace in the park. My sister still has the papers we got when we bought it, in our family album. the 2011 rule most of happened sometime after the 90's, I know of others that bought a stone too
My boyfriend smokes and he agrees its for the better.
Also that we shouldn't be normalizing it in front of children in a family oriented park.
Does your boyfriend drink alcohol?? I sure hope he doesn't normalize that while visiting any park.
@@wassupmypeeps69 no we do not drink. Neither of us care forthe taste of alcohol.

There is still going to be smoking areas at the resorts
They are not banning it at the resorts
@@jsab8722 oh, i guess that was my fault for taking that wrong i thought they were. I am Sorry
Love the idea of a virtual queue system. I'd really like to see Disney make more use of this around the parks where you can check in and "wait" while exploring other things and then come back when your wait time is over.
Who has the audacity to give DFB a thumbs down???
Whew! That was a lot of info to take in!! Lol!
I imagine its because normal ice can make a huge mess if an issue happens, such as a container of ice spilling everywhere, or a soaking wet bag from some sort of leak
Dry ice is prohibited i feel, beyond the fact that it will seriously freeze your fingers if not handled properly, but if in a closed container for long enough it might cause enough pressure to blow.
Banning smoking is Disney's answer to handling the ever increasing crowds at the parks.
Yey im visiting in oct and i hate smoking
It's also great for people who are allergic to the smell or have bad lungs. Even more so when they banned vaping too. (allergic being that the scent can cause migraines.)
what a relief
As someone with severe allergies and lung problems, this makes me so happy. I have to wear a mask everywhere to protect myself and I’m glad that smoke in the park is something I shouldn’t have to worry about anymore
I’m surprised it took this long for Disney to ban all smoking
I would NOT want to be a cast member on Aug. 29th!! 😱😱😱 That's going to be a nightmare. Plus side. Maybe the other 2 parks will be manageable... Maybe.

No smoking will be so much better
I’ve never been to any of the Disney parks and probably never will but aj makes my day
As someone who is allergic to cigarette smoke, I am SO excited about this news. It totally made my day.
People still are able to smoke which means it’s all in your head.
I'm so glad they got rid of the smoking areas hate the smell
The Disney Villains Night sounds very cool except it cost almost twice as much as most after hour events, both Halloween and Christmas after hour events are around 80 per person without an annual pass holder discount.
As an ex smoker, I am all for this ban.

When galaxies edge opens on August 29. August 29 is my birthday!!!!!
That ice thing gonna creat problems. Because you can’t bring ice packs through the air port unless its frozen.
I love the idea of villains after hours! That is super cool!
Thinning out the crowd with no smoking...lolll. I'm not a smoker, but the smoking areas were so far from the path that I never smelled any tobacco every time I go which is pretty much every month. No vaping either? Lolll. Vaping does not smell like anything. What's the rationale for that one?
Weed is legal in CA and Disney doesn't want to have any part in that, so they banned everything altogether.

I am starting to think that Rise of the Resistance is being held out on because the story will ruin the story line for Episode 9!
I can't believe that there really are people angry that they have to leave the parks to smoke. The wagons were always against policy (anything made to be pulled behind a guest is prohibited) but it is now being strictly enforced.

I’m just so glad that no one will have to put up with accidentally breathing in cigarette smoke in Disney anymore, heck the ones that will benefit the most from this smoking in parks ban are the kids of said smokers who are usually stuck being around their parent(s) in a spot filled with smoke for an Undesignated period of time(cause whenever my mom finds a fellow smoker at hotels she strikes up a long ass hell conversation with them because there aren’t as many of them as they’re use to be)

also glad I won’t have to spend my precious ride time searching for a smokers area with my fiancé :)
brittany steele that’s kinda funny cause we are always like 3 days into our trip already planning the next one
Abbie Cole take medication for your anxiety.
Thank you!
Bethany Dunn you do realise medication doesn’t fix everything if it did nobody would have panic attacks or episodes 🤦♀️

Very good new rules. Three cheers for Disney.
Booked a room at Disneyland hotel for opening week. I can’t wait!
Everything is opening on my birthday at Disney world
Why not just restrict the Disney parks to guests 21 years and older? Children and teens have always been a nuisance. Disney Corp could rake in tons of billions of dollars by restricting the park to adults only guests. Just think of all the "After Hours" possibilities!
I really, really, hope you're kidding.
Have they actually said “later in the year” for Rise of the Resistance in Galaxy’s Edge? I’ve only read “later” which some have speculated to be much, much later so that they could essentially have a second Grand Opening maybe next year or beyond.
Not sure what I'm supposed to put in our cooler for water park days, considering most Disney hotel rooms don't have freezer compartments. Everyone's focusing on the other rule changes, but this one bothers me the most.
Also, when they say loose ice, can I assume that ice inside ziplock bags would also not be allowed?
Did some research and apparently Disney answered this question: ziplock bags are fine. Problem solved.
@@d_dave7200 Some people also use the hotel ice machine to put in their cooler with the ice packs overnight. They are frozen by morning and they dump the ice.
I heard some people tried that and found the ice packs didn't really freeze properly doing that, but it may depend how cold you need them to be.

Any reason why they are delaying the opening of rise of the resistance? Does later in the year means it is still opening in 2019 ?
It probably won't open with the park because of the very advanced technology that will be in it. It'll still open in 2019, probably sometime in the fall with the resort.
