NJ Devils SIGNING Nikita Zadorov or Chris Tanev? Jakob Markstrom Reunion with former Defenseman!

- When Free Agency Opens on July 1st Will the NJ Devils SIGN Nikita Zadorov or Chris Tanev? Both were names on the Devils radar when the trade deadline came and went and now that the NJ Devils traded for goaltender Jakob Markstrom the first thing I thought. Does this make Zadorov and Tanev more willing to sign with the Devils to play in front of their former friend and netminder again. It is possible.
The Devils traded off Big Defenseman Kevin Bahl and clearly may make room for another Defenseman to sign in Free agency. With the windows being short with Markstrom with his current contract expiring in 2 seasons and his age will Tom Fitzgerald and the Devils go all in and try for one of or both of Zadorov and Tanev.
With the defensive struggles they endured last season I wouldnt be surprised to see them kicking the tires on these 2 veteran defenseman.

Could definitely see Tanev signing there. Marky and Tanev played together for 10 years and are great friends, and if you look at Markstroms mask he wore a few times this year on retro nights and 3rd jersey nights, the toothless skull that surrounds the whole mask and just shows the couple teeth is actually made after tanevs teeth lol. its brilliant. We need a defensive defenseman (maybe 2) who loves to hit people, but we need to avoid bad contracts to check that long list you showed and cap space short

I dont mind 6x6 for Zadorov but we are going to have to move or buyout Marino or Seigenthaler. We NEED a hard hitting, shot blocker.
Shot blocker Tanev is more likely to do that, hitting wise more Zadorov, but theyll won't come cheap. Maybe having Markstrom might help them sign a more team friendly deal
Both guys I’d love to see on the Devs , either one works and fits the bill of what we need . I don’t think we’ll be able to afford Pesce with what he’s gonna command and end up getting. Add that top and bottom 6 forward too!
I agree Alex, I honestly rather go for one of these too and I'm thinking maybe they'll sign more of a team friendly deal with us having Marky, him and Tanev especially are best of buds
Calgary had both of these guys and played Tanev quite a bit more. I’d rather Tanev. You can get him at a better price too.
Tanev is more of a dependable type of D and a warrior come playoff time, me too

I’m good either way either one. We need to raise our level of physical play where teams fear going into the crease.
We need to intimidate other teams. Teams know they can bully us around, but hopefully Fitzy adds some much needed muscle
I'd be surprised if the Devils don't sign Pesce. I think the Canucks will re-sign Zadorov, and I think Tanev will either stay with the Stars or go to the Leafs or Sens.

Hes not, but in free agency players usually get it especially if they are attracting alot of interest. I think having Marky will help us
I would love to see both but it’s unrealistic. Every team needs blocked shots in the playoffs
I dont think it'll be both, that'll be too much against the cap and Fitzy still has to work on Mercer and our forwards. Could be one of these 2
Tanev and Dillon would fit and be more affordable, especially if we trade marino or seigs

Someone like Dillon 6’4” or Theodore. Stay away from Zadarov. 3 more points than Kevin Bahl this season and similar size, asking for 6 mil?? Be ok with Tanev for 2-3 years.
I'm hoping its Tanev too, 3 years at 34 is a gamble but im sure it'll be a 2 year deal

Cap space is limited. Don't get your hopes up.
Over 16 million in cap space, Mercer shouldn't cost too much on a bridge deal, theyll be able to get one of these guys if needed highly doubt both

Thats exactly what I want done too, Marino was awful last season, great the year before
@THEHOCKEYSKATEDOWN yea I'd like to give Keefe a chance with Marino because everyone was worse last year. But if the option to sign Zadorov and trade Marino for a late pick or something I'd do it.
If they get 1 of them, they'll have a better chance of getting Zadorov than Tanev.
Either way its good for us, but Tanev is like Markstroms best bud, I didnt know this some Calgary fan commented on my video and let me know. Maybe Markstrom gives them the heads up of who he'd like more idk
Let’s get both players!! And we can get a 20 year old stud power forward from the Jets for our 10th pick and John Marino. Rutger McGroarty is unhappy in Winnipeg and wants to be traded. This guy is the perfect piece in my opinion and would be very cap friendly for the next three years.

@@subfail4810 absolutely!! He would fit right into this core perfectly. Plus we are upgrading defensively and he is ready for an NHL roster spot now. No waiting 3-4 years for a prospect like an Alexander Holtz. Maybe we have enough cap space after this to sign a Bertuzzi , Guentzel, or Duchene.
