My favorite thing about Bitcoin are the millennials saying that this is their time, their currency, their way to fight the man and get free money... the whole time being played by billionaires
Verlisify no not billionaires. Literally if you have a spare 100k to fund your own development team, you can build your own Smart Contract Token and launch pre sales and crowdfund millions of dollars
Verlisify my favorite thing about bitcoin was investing in it when it was $900 per bitcoin and then selling them at $19000+. =) Those billionaires sure played me and made me rich... but I'm sure that was part of their plan...right? I got over 20x my investment so for me, it was certainly free money. Maybe it wasn't free money for you, since you were too broke/ill informed to invest =(
Hey Richard love the shows, I'm a White South African of British decent (living in Britain but will be returning in a couple years) and thought id say my piece on the Liberia segment. I think the Liberia story is so extremely similar to what happened to Rhodesia at around the same time actually. Both succesful African nations (I'll admit Rhodesia was white dominated in the ruling classes but the whole 'oh but Rhodesia had apartheid' is bollocks) the country was doing brilliantly until the previous colonial owner decided to change its mind about that nation and completely screwed it over in doing so. The fact that Liberia appears to finally be coming through their period is wonderful news but the rest of the continent has a long way to go. Especially South Africa which seems to have completely forgotten the lessons of the past and for some reason unbeknown to me the ANC is conitnuing to dominate the electoral polls and worst of all the EFF is making fast gains which is the truly scary part. If youre interested in a good film which does a good job of portraying the situation in Sierra Leone in the late 90s Blood Diamond is brilliant - even if Leo's Rhodie accent is pretty poor Thanks again Richard and Sam - Het jy 'n gelukkige nuwe jaar!
Cameron Miles awesome maybe but inaccurate as hell, just a small nitpick really like its bearable bit like Cillian Murphy's brummy accent for brummies in Peaky Blinders
IT'S GONNA TAKE A LOT ME TO DRIVE ME AWAY FROM YOU! THERE'S NOTHING THAT 100 MEN OR MORE COULD EVER DO! I BLESS THE RAINS DOWN IN AFRICA! GONNA TAKE SOME TIME TO DO THE THINGS WE NEVER HAAAAAD!
I don’t have any doubt that the CIA has meddled in the affairs of Liberia. Undoubtedly many other countries as well. But Africa as a whole is pretty damn far behind the curve when compared to the rest of the civilized world. You could argue as to why this is, but I don’t think you can deny Africa has shit infrastructure, shit health care, high infant mortality rate, low life expectancy and bad quality of life overall.
I feel like sam was really REACHING for the Donald Trump 2 hands thing. No glass is ever so slippery that a second hand is going to do anything, but I do agree that there's nothing wrong with it. It's just a bit weird.
SMaRk Could be an aging man with arthritis or just general joint pain. Better than dropping the water. Can’t believe people even care in the first place
People like to nitpick the smallest things, but the only thing I really find funny than anything else is how he puckers his lips before drinking out of a bottle or a glass. He looks like he's duck facing.
SMaRk Mate you’ve never been in a pub and reached for a pint glass that’s frosted and slippery? I work in a pub and I watch mongs drop em all the time after slipping up
I've never seen it happen not once in my life. Are people drinking with oiled up hands or fresh off a lotion session? People's grips aren't that bad that people are dropping glasses everywhere.
SMaRk you've...never touched a slippery glass? You've never seen/heard a glass dropped? You really need to leave the house guy...experience reality occassionally. You're missing out on a lot of basic life experiences. Nobody ever says, in the video or comments section, that "people are dropping glasses everywhere" as you seem to think =/, you have really depressed me with your shitpost...I had to add more.
To be clear, Bitcoin cannot be shut down, that's the whole point of it being decentralized. Even if there were to be legislation in place, you would have to physically shut down the network which is peer-to-peer, which means you would have to shut down every individual computer on the network. It's not going anywhere. Central Bank's best bet is to create a cryptocurrency of their own which they control and isn't decentralized, like you said at 33:00.
In 1977 the GDP per capita of Liberia was less than Nigeria, and very similar to that of many other African countries that have failed despite no American intervention, don’t spout bullshit Rich mate
I mean, it was in the 70s when the US started cutting aid etc because of their relationship with Russia and other Soviet Bloc countries, but I can tell you're very well informed about the topic. Feel free to look that up and post another informative comment.
Two of my pals went mental over a bitcoin ripoff thats not even that big. Going to cult-like seminars and some weird shit. Tried to make them decide against it but I think at this point their box has fully gone as Rich would say. Probably will fuck up their education and life a bit, its a shame.
Yeah Jorge Costa was kinda of a pig for sure, but he lived for the club and the national team. Once i saw a game where he scread athis CB partner that if he didn't stop being a puss he'd slap him arround in the field to shame him :D, and as the FC Porto capitan no one can point a finger to him.
On the topic of crypto, we will see in the future if you are correct. I do agree that Gov will eventually control it, but why not make money from it now?

Liberia is mega overrated. Rhodesia had the best standard of living for both blacks and whites in the world at one point.
still waiting on Africa super team
Would blow Faze out of the water imotbqh

I gotta be honest, I lived in New York so I can believe that the story with the pregnant woman could happen.
Bruh re-watching this in 2023 and there's a long bit about the crazy concept of the president of the USA having dementia... get me out 😭

34:39 sounds pretty interesting tbh, even if you don't research anything.
Box of Bees Tshirt!
EQUIPPING. KNIFE.
Given how Goldman Sachs have recently expressed some interest in Bitcoin, I'll have to agree with Richard on the near end of that currency.
