BDO loves RnG so much even the FPS is random.

I honestly get frame stutters about every 50ish seconds.
The game likes to drop sometimes as low as 40FPS from my average of 95 ~ 100 FPS.

I was 1 of those scorch the earth people back in the day when it came to stutters (still am on other subjects) but back when i used to care i left so much feedback only for it to be completely ignored i just simply stopped caring. Its not that i learned to live with the stutters at all, I hate them.
It's completely pathetic for a company this size to not care enough to fix this issue.
Been awhile since I've seen a video talking about it.
Thanks for keeping the good fight going ❤

There is so much they could implement rather easily, like updating FSR to the newest version. Other more complicated things like linux support (so it could run natively on steamdeck) or support for DLSS would also be great. Best thing would be a fix for multicore cpus tho, the performance changes so much depending on cpu infrastructure, it is insane. If you know that your game does not run with certain cpus, atleast optimize somehow...

    • @Flosstradamuss
      @Flosstradamuss ปีที่แล้ว +1

THIS...DLSS would be HUGE. Im not gonna lie, I doubt PA truly understands the reasoning behind their stutters and the multicore cpu issue. If they did, why wouldnt there be a patch? Or, they do know about it and theres nothing they can do with this game engine as its an engine made in house at PA from scratch and could be an issue at the structure level of the engine and not a simple line of code.

The bigger issue to me is the fact your choices for anti aliasing are:
Running it at a higher res (depending on hardware needing to lower settings heavily)
Use TAA and deal with the game being a blurry mess
Use FXAA and have the game be a grainy mess

I noticed when I play in NA (as a SEA player) my FPS spiked really high up in comparison to SEA because NA has so many servers + I was online when everyone in NA was sleeping. I noticed too when there aren't many players online/active in a server, gameplay becomes silky smooth so on my end, in SEA where we have so little servers that are extremely dense with players, we need more servers! adding 2 more servers would be enough.

    • @pouringpoipoi5777

forget about SEA,mena,tr,thai,or tw servers.. PA does not care to small regions since majority of their money and profit are from na/eu thats why they get priortized alot

It is a Engine problem causing unbalance usage of your CPU Cores. U answered itself @3:20 when saying u notice the issue more often when playing on optimal because of the unbalanced CPU usage. BDO is seriusly one of the best examples how bad this can cause issues like those stutters. When u play on Higher GPU Settings, the GPU have more to do and the workload of the CPU gets down and u dont run into the max workload. Its easy, whenever 1 of your cores get a 90% up to 100% workload your frames drops down and u get a spike on the frames. The result of this is a short stutter in the Game. U cant fix this problem but u can handle it when understanding it. U need to finde a sweetspot for the Performance your pc can handle. Depending on your Resolution and GPU Ingame Settings also the performance of your cpu u can get almost no stutters. The best place to show u the issue is when staying in a Town like Heidel. Whenever u enter a Town your workload on the CPU gets much higher and the result of the unbalance causes more often stutters and your frames drop extremly down. When u leave the Town your FPS goes immediately up. The problem at this point is, depending on your performance of your machine there is no one way solution to fix this. I can show u some tests and screens i made for testing this issue when u want @Verdict. sry for my bad english i hope everyone understand what i mean with this post.

°The more characters you have, the higher your chance of crashing when changing character.
°Workers, auto arrange inventory and Warehouse auto arrange contribute to the stutters too.
Something to do with the amount of local data and server data information that's constantly being read 60 times a second that causes these stutters, it's a very complicated issue and that's why it's a core issue sadly. Fresh accounts run very well compared to 5 year old horder accounts.

@@pouringpoipoi5777 you need to go nvidia/amd panel and turn off vertical sync. After that, open the game and change the option 'fullscreen borderless' to 'fullscreen'. Pearl Abyss knows the issue with FPS (if you have more fps, you do more damage, cast fast the skill...) and 3 or 4 years ago they made vertical sync on automaticlly to reduce this problem with new drivers. But you can disable it with the amd/nvidia panel and playing on fullscreen mode. If you dont play in fullscreen, you will play with the fps of your hz monitor.

new engines requires more money, more money requires new players. They cant hook new player/returning players if they cant properly balanced the class.
Same old mistakes already are repeated this year and people sick about it. If they can't make some classes to stop having lingering protections, i think there's no position of BDO to be "a comeback game".

I run remastered high, everything selected yada yada..I can get 160-180fps outside of town, 110 on town. RBF on remastered around 90fps. The game needs optimization bad. The stutters compared to console are night and day thankfully. Keep in mind, Pearl Abyss made this game engine from scratch specifically for this game. They say they have an upgraded version of this game engine they'll be using for Crimson Desert. We can only hope BDO will get an upgraded version as well. To compared PA with Blizzard is comparing a D1 College football team to NFL superbowl champs; you can't compare it, in different leagues. Yes, PA needs to prioritize optimization. However, not sure that's their priority as they seem to care more about putting out content to retain their playerbase. I believe they should hire a dedicated team to focus solely on optimization.

Upgrading CPU does help a bit, mainly with AMD X3D CPUs that utilize huge amount of L2 cache. But it's sad that we have to fix software problem with better HW solutions.
Game also have confirmed handle leak which results in more FPS spikes and stutter the longer you have your client open. Sadly I think the only solution would be to entirely rewrite new game engine from scratch, but that would cost millions and also take few years to develop ... something they won't do.

It's just CPU. I have an i7-13700k and 1080p runs at 300FPS, in full maxed settings, in remastered, while running around the open world. 275 FPS in combat. 175-180 in very busy Heidel. No stutters. Stutters are when the CPU load spikes and your processor can't feed the GPU quickly enough. Time for an upgrade if you have stutters.
There's no mystery about it. Think about it like this. You can get 120-144 FPS on your aging 4 to 6 core CPU running around the open world, doing a bit of combat. That's similar to the 6700k/7700k/8700k range of processors, very common in older rigs. This is the ability of your CPU's performance to feed the render thread the world and your character and maybe a few animals off the side of the road wherever you are, all their animations, and any CPU processing required. Whatever your CPU reads in task manager, say 40-50%, is as much as the render thread and BDO's processes can spread to. You're using 90% of your budget GPU, still some headroom, but good usage. Now say you're fighting someone for a grind spot near a bunch of mobs. The CPU has to feed all of the effects and animations of everything in render distance. It dips to 90 FPS while fighting because more things are going on. Your GPU is still fine and now at like 80-85% usage, has headroom but can only render what it's fed. Now you're fighting and a request to the server to update client-side inventory data, to verify everything is correct (or any other background CPU process) comes in at the same time you are in a frenzy of combat abilities the CPU also has to tee up for the GPU on the animations, polygons, and effects side. Your CPU has no headroom, so for .25 seconds it has to use 30% of the BDO threads' processing scheduling to get that done. 120 FPS "max" times .3 is 36 FPS loss. Now that 90 FPS is shown as 54 FPS for a split second, with one of the frames being most-offset and then recovering quickly. That's the stutter.
Now imagine you have, instead of a 4 or 6 core CPU, a newer CPU with faster per-core performance and MANY more cores. It's running at 275FPS. Now when that request comes in, it has other cores and threads to shift to. It's also a much smaller fraction of your total processing power available per frame. It doesn't eat much of your render thread at all, maybe 5% for .25 seconds. Your 275 FPS dips to 261 FPS every once in a while when that peak of CPU load lines up juuuust right. You don't care at all.
Lowering graphics settings doesn't alleviate this much because graphical load is already mostly on the GPU. Removing NPC models at a distance and player effects can help, but texture quality being N64 mode doesn't affect stuttering. That's why these guides don't work. They don't fundamentally change the raw information the CPU has to feed to the GPU.
WoW has the same dips, by the way. You get stuttering all the time, but the combat is so snail-slow it doesn't matter and is at most slightly irritating. I actually got worse FPS in Shadowlands' main city than I do in Heidel in BDO. WoW is also very CPU-hungry, the combat is just more casual and forgiving.

5:13 WoW is are realy bad example the still can t Manage more then 40 Player on one Spot. WoW is better now but not good. The reason why the dont address studders is: IT is not Fixxable, it is a Core Problem in the Game, and you Mostly get it with a Bad PC s or running the game Over 60 FPS. BDO is not build to run Over 60 FPS and will always have studders. The only way to fix that is to rewrite the game, and Modernise the CPU/GPU AND RAM Use. BDO is old and Outdatet on a Techical view.

Nah, the reason it's fun is because it isn't just wailing on each other like every other MMO. Landing crowd control is difficult to do against a skilled player and is the entire goal of PvP. You SHOULD die in a full single combo to someone in equal gear, period. You're not good enough to understand the animation times, strategies, cooldowns, and team plays but that has no basis on whether or not they're there. They're a huge part of PvP.
