That epic thin line between "Can't get any better" and " Shouldn't have done that" of mountainbiking. Pain & pleasure :) Props to your brother! Awesome job for that small amount of experience he had. With of bit more experience of riding to get comfy on trails he could have much fun in the future with MTB.
The gods of MTB trails get grumpy if there's not some sort of blood sacrifice from time to time, so thanks for taking the hit and sending up an offering! You're learning super quick and couldn't have a better teacher...cheers!
Dude when he road that berm high my eyes widen like crazy! He’s doing so good! I hope he continues and you can have him in more vids! As a new rider I really appreciate seeing the progress of your bro!
He's got the spirit of hard send for sure. I laughed a bit at the last video when he motivating going harder than appropriate with "it was exciting", and I think I heard that today as well. Better to have a small crash early than going over the bars on a rocky descend.
It's so much fun to see new riders having fun and getting a taste of MTB crack. I think McKenzie was fantastic given his experience level. You rocked it dude! I really hate that you got shoulder checked. I know that had to hurt. But you're young and you'll bounce back. My hope is that you keep riding and progressing until you can keep up with the big Brother! 😉
YES McKenzie 🙌 That looked like such a great time and you did awesome! Really hope you got the bug and will continue to enjoy the amazing world of mountainbiking!
Evening 2 with some content catch up... Lots more stoke....really enjoying this stuff with your bro. He's a trooper and really dang good for a beginner. Thx for sharing!!!!
I don't mountain bike often, but I skate a lot. Those road rashes are a badge of learning and a sign you are progressing. Good on Alex for reeling Mackenzie in, and good on Mackenzie for trusting in Alex. Cheers to both of you!
I think you described his second crash perfectly the corner was opening up but he was still leaning and turning but was great to see how much fun he was having hope he sticks with it good stuff
Great job clearing the rock garden 💪🏾!!! The teaching method you used in this video I think was great especially for teaching a family member... Lil bro was killing it on the trails shook those crashes off and got back on the bike and continued to kill it 💪🏾💪🏾💯💯 so many great moments... Thanks for sharing
@13:00 - "I was fl-.... I felt pretty cool".... AND THAT"S WHY WE RIDE... as beginners, amateurs, racers, pros, WHATEVER.... Cause on top of the feeling of being outdoors, in the woods, in the fresh air, experiencing freedom and the full capability of what we're physically able to do... We get momentary flashes of "FEELING COOL". (btw Alex, it's really good just to hear your unique laughter while riding again)
Mac, your big bro said it best..."Live Free, Ride Hard and Get Stoked!" ...and you did all 3 bro. I had fun watching you guys ride! Looking forward to the next video
Mac's a natural. Great body position on the bike. He's crashing only because he's pushing himself a bit over the edge which is okay so long as no major injuries... fine line... :)
I learned the hard lesson last year, about matching the angle of your body AND bike in longer berms, but not the body in short or flat turns, which require leaning the bike only. Not leaning forward and leaning my body earned me a washout and a shoulder dislocation. Good job on pushing yourself!
What a blast! And that protective older brother thing is even worse with your own kids! Also, of all the places he could have fell, he nailed the only thing sticking out!! I think that could have been a lot worse than a bad bruise. What a fun time riding and hanging.
Great job getting the full experience, Mackenzie! I remember my first few rides all ended with bloody shins from slipping off the pedal to the point I thought it was just how things went, but also included some sweet long downhills.
Went on a Dupont trip a few months back and rode almost all the trails in the video. Props to your bro for hitting those being so new at mountain biking. Those trails are no joke.
OUCH! When I saw him bounce off of that tree stump, I knew that he would have some major bruising, at the minimum. Way to shake it off and keep shredding, Mac! Enjoyed the video, but man, you make me anxious flying through those downhills! LOL! Glad that you're back! Stay safe out there and keep posting!
It's been a busy summer, I haven't gotten out riding much. But seeing you two out there having fun is refilling my stoke meter to get out this fall and send it. Thanks!
Love Dupont Forest State Park. It was were my son (10) and I took our first MTB trip and did some legitimate riding. He was a trooper hitting some of those climbs and loved the trails. Dupont has a great balance of challenge and novice friendly trails.
I didnt realize he was that new at riding until you said he's had around 5 rides. That's crazy how good he was. And I can't believe how fast Alex is on his second ride back. When he let's loose he flies.
Been trying to teach someone how to mountain bike this season and it's a tough balance of coaching and over coaching. Mackenzie is doing so well in a short period of time wow! He's got good body awareness and he's in good shape so that's gonna help a ton. Hard to progress when you get hurt bad enough tho so definitely take it easy out there. I really hope you two continue to document the progression cuz its inspiring for sure. Thanks! 👍
Thank you for sharing!! Love the last three videos and an experience of why I subscribed back in the day, love the content! Makes me want to hit ridgeline again, did it once, at night, loved it!
I’m gonna be up in Asheville 2 weeks from now and I am so stoked to check out some of the trails! Fingers crossed that the weather is good, I’ve never brought my bike up there with me.
One of my all time favorite places to ride! Took my wife there for her first ever MTB ride right down ridgeline. Shes hooked for life just like me. Everytime i goto dupont i ride hickory top clockwise like you did then ridgeline. Then ill go hit the struggle ride up cedar rock and then blast down big rock. Dupont is disneyland for mountain bikes.
Oh man I live on the coast so this summer was my first Trip out to DuPont for some real mountain riding and having ridden the same trails for my first time recently I can say Mack was killing it for sure.
Wow so unlucky to crash onto that stump... Glad you didn't mess that shoulder up. Novices do tend to love to lean the bike a little too much and a lot of time use front break during a corner but we all learn from it :)
I totally feel you on the coaching new riders thing. I had a guy I rode with constantly coaching me and everyone else and it took my own solo riding to really advance. I had to tell him that I can't ride with him anymore I was too tired of all his unsolicited advice.....a majority of which was all wrong. Now, if he had your skills and knowledge it may have been a different story.
"Is the whole trail uphill?!" - the most relatable noobie quote ever 😂 We've all been there!
hahaha I died laughing to myself when he said that. We've all been there indeed
It's not just a noobie quote, I've kept saying it for many years. I'd rather put that dropper post money into lift passes :D
If he's unlucky it's grampas old school path and uphill both ways.
I still ask that question at my local, every run.
the first time I went mountain biking I just looked around f and asked the dude going out "are we supposed to go up that?!"
lololol
That epic thin line between "Can't get any better" and " Shouldn't have done that" of mountainbiking. Pain & pleasure :)
Props to your brother! Awesome job for that small amount of experience he had. With of bit more experience of riding to get comfy on trails he could have much fun in the future with MTB.
Dude that wipeout with the tree stump... He is lucky it wasn't worse! His progression in only 2 rides though is freaking amazing!
Alex, you have the attitude and energy that everyone dreams of riding with! You've been a great role model for me for when I ride with other people.
He took both of those falls like a pro, huge props to both of you!
Your trail etiquette is impeccable. Thank you for spreading good manners! It makes such a difference. …and bravo Mackenzie!
Finally consistent content from STS🔥🔥🔥
Bet ya didn't see that coming 😆
@@The_Sampler nope xD
Yes! Keep the videos coming. 💪🏼
These narrated videos are what I love!!! Just being real!
We dropped into the Lazy Hiker for lunch on our return trip from Asheville, the pub dog was awesome. The burgers were great, too.
Excellent riding McKenzy 🚵♂️
Finding myself biking less this year, I'm so happy to be blessed with a steady stream of Sample content to get the biking bug back. great riding.
Love seeing when your content pops up, I hope you stay healthy my dude!
He's got the spirit of hard send for sure. I laughed a bit at the last video when he motivating going harder than appropriate with "it was exciting", and I think I heard that today as well. Better to have a small crash early than going over the bars on a rocky descend.
Really enjoying all your updates and good memories with your brother 👍❤️🚵🏻
Glad you are back. Enjoy family.
Way to go Mac! Keep sending it!!

Awesome content!! Happy to see you back Alex, and awesome to see Mac!!!!!
Perfect ending … looking at the bruise.
He's a natural! This is inspiring me to get back out there
YES McKenzie 🙌 That looked like such a great time and you did awesome! Really hope you got the bug and will continue to enjoy the amazing world of mountainbiking!
Love the videos with the production value... but I did miss these too. Keep em coming.
Watching this made me smile. I say almost the exact same things when I ride with my little brother.
Mac is a trooper. He did awesome. Falling on dirt hurts. Hope he enjoyed it enough to keep riding. Way to go Mac.
I'm really happy you're posting more frequently, you were missed on the yt MTB scene Alex

Yes loved watching you two ride!

Every time Alex was exclaiming how good Mac was straight on the ground. Love it, keep up the progress Mac.
Great video Alex! I love this old sampler video format.
You could totally make it in another life as a MTB coach! I feel better about my own riding listening to you be excited about your brother's riding.
Crashing sucks but not being scared to be aggressive in the turns gets your skills up fast.
Bro he killed that! I hope he sticks with it! I hope he sticks with it, he’s a natural!

Every MTB noob goes down on Ridgeline. Seems like a right of passage. Nice job Mac!
McKenzie is a freaking natural! Looking for a lot more with him.
Such a good video. Loving this series, particularly when you give tips to your brother. Awesome riding and video 😀
Your vids always make me smile and out and out laugh...KUDOS for your bro.
Mac, your big bro said it best..."Live Free, Ride Hard and Get Stoked!" ...and you did all 3 bro. I had fun watching you guys ride! Looking forward to the next video
Dude's inspiring! I wanna get out there. Love seeing you bounceback and sharing more content!

Your bro killed it! Much respect!!!
Awesome ride Mac!

Dude stoked to see you back to a regular thing! Happy you had a good recovery. Mack way to crush it!!
Glad you're posting regularly again dude. Love the vids.
Great job getting the full experience, Mackenzie! I remember my first few rides all ended with bloody shins from slipping off the pedal to the point I thought it was just how things went, but also included some sweet long downhills.
That reminds me I need to buy some bigger pedals.
Great ride guys! Welcome to trail riding Mac!!
Went on a Dupont trip a few months back and rode almost all the trails in the video. Props to your bro for hitting those being so new at mountain biking. Those trails are no joke.
You are your bro are so adorable! Keep up the good work gents!

Awesome Mack you did good.
He did awesome 👏
More brotherly mtbing you two that was a great show
The bike parks and trails are a better place when you are using them. Great content.
5:20 you need to get Mac to a bike park with shuttles or lifts…
his progression will sky rocket… if he continues like he did on this vid!
hahaha That's what I told him! Now that he's paid his dues with pedal trails I think he'd lose his mind at a bike park lol
Nicelg done mckenzie! Was good seeing that bonus crash.
One of my all time favorite places to ride! Took my wife there for her first ever MTB ride right down ridgeline. Shes hooked for life just like me. Trial by fire!!! You rocked that shit bro!!!!!! Epic trail to have some tumbles. Keep it up. Your brother is a great teacher.
I miss this trail… used to ride it almost every week!
Yo… happy to see you back in action!
Pre ride

All about knowing the trail is the best advice👌
Loved this! Nice job.
Oh man I live on the coast so this summer was my first Trip out to DuPont for some real mountain riding and having ridden the same trails for my first time recently I can say Mack was killing it for sure.
Hey alex, your content is amazing, Keep making awesome videos and bringing smiles to everyones faces
best quote I'm gonna use from now on " I was wondering how the dirt here tastes" haha
forbidden druid?! built right here in my backyard, getting some big exposure that's awesome 👍
Alex, good to see you back making vids after a long break.
Thanks Nick, super stoked you guys are still here watching!
Excellent ride Mac your killing it dude 🤛🤛

Drives me crazy when I see people without helmets on my local trails. Stuff like that happens fast and easy.
Well done, dude!
Freaking MacKenzie!!!! Killed it bro!!!
That body language when you said 1/15th lol he wasn't thrilled.
Welcome to the club!
Good job!!
