- So to kick off my series of tutorials of HF digital mode decoding with the RTLSDR, I've started with FT8.
FT8 is a amateur Radio digital mode of communication.
Using a Cheap Software defined radio dongle, with a software mod to get it into the lower HF Bands, we are able to use it to decode those FT8 Signals.

Hi! Excelent tutorial! But... Why do you need to replace the driver? Because you had configured the device in Q Branch, and with the standard driver that also can be done. Does the new driver provide more features? THanks!

Great video! You can use my CalicoCAT plugin to control SDR# from WSJT-X as well! -N0TTL
I haven't personally, but someone told me you can use a virtual serial port with sdr console to achieve this. (Which may be what you're referring to) I'm just not familiar with the software.
@@ModernHam CalicoCat is a plugin for sdr#, not related to sdr-console. You can get it from tagloomis.com/calicocat/ same place as GridTracker
Virtual cables in Linux can be set up in Pulseaudio.
I have the configuration set up as described in your video. However, I have an issue you may be able to help me with. The waterfall on WSJT-X is 7Khz wide instead of 2.4. I can't find where to change it in the software. In SDR# it is set to 2.4. THANKS Daryl de VK3AWA

IS the replaced DLL necessary for SDRSharp for RTL-SDR? Mine was able to scan down to HF on my 40m dipole.

I don't know if u have to download that dll file the one i have installed is labeled as ExtIO_RTL2832.dll all i did was enabled direct sampling in the software i use sdr consle the same with cubic sdr and i cant get sdr sharp to run on my computer im have the same issues others said they where having on the website that makes that radio u have i have the same one

Yeah I thought so too, but I have the new V3 and I think can do that with a diffrent sample mode. I've lissened to short wave with it

Somehow, will it be possible to capture RFID card signals with sdr or sniff RFID card while it communicate with the tag reader using sdr.

@@giamma-basedresearcherssdr7178 thanks for the content. I was thinking to capture and replay signals using sdr and Pi for cards like Desfire (8 digit UID) where proxmark3 failed to clone.
@@jacks9931 proxmark3 seems to me a good product and maybe if you can't clone it depends on the code you use since the technical specifications are enough to handle almost everything ... Desfire has security levels "AES 128-bit and LRP authentication and secure messaging" and "DES / 2K3DES / 3K2DES / AES crypto algorithms" which may not work with parrot attack, repeating messages, recording and repeating the message, etc ...

With pi, you can use the "rtl_fm" library to pipe audio streams.
Is there a link to the modified rtlsdr.dll? Is it this 'direct sampling' one? Could the (nooelec) Ham-It-Up be used instead?

Any thoughts on using Olivia (500/16 or 1000/32) for HF Digital? Or plans for a video on just the general differences between all the digital modes, PSK31/PSK63/RTTY.. WINMOR / PACTOR (for Winlink 2000).. it's very confusing!
