Thanks for the UNBIASED review (just adding that in case somebody is trying to be starting something). I thought it was spot on about the similarites to formula in other ABH palettes. I appreciate that you admitted that you hit a wall with everyday looks, especially since most consumers need everyday looks and will be looking to use it for that purpose. I actually ordered 2 because it's limited edition and palettes this good are rare. But I'm of deep complextion There was some very interesting, straight dupes in Pat McGrath Palettes. Ex: Blitz Flame (PM) and Wiggalese (ABH x JA), Smoke and Mirrors (PM) and Lituation (ABH x JA). They are exactly the same. Lastly, if you're if a fairer complexion and like the color story, just get Modern Renaissance; the pigmentation would be easier to work with. I find this works beautifully with Subculture. JS
Jennifer Brown I’m going to order another. When she said she’s seeing them less I’m like hell no! I’ve been not using it as much as I want cause it’s limited edition but that’s dumb. I’ll use one like crazy and horde the other!
as a dark skin girl this is literally my favourite palette ever because the colour story and pigment is amazing and it makes it better than my colored raine for that reason although safari oof is amazeballs too
Avs yep same. I am so grateful to Jackie every time I use this. any shade and it shows up on my lids. On an emotional level I don’t hate my deep eye lids anymore. Silly I know but struggling for color to show really depresses me. But that chunky gold shade and trust issues are my least fav shades.
Tina Ganguly I love that chunky gold glitter!!! Every time I use that color I get a ton of compliments all day!! I’m also a sucker for glitter so there’s that. Lol!!!
I was not interested in this palette what so ever, but somehow every palette review you make makes me wanna buy it! You have such an amazing eye shape, that every single eye makeup looks so flattering!
I love your 1 week 1 palette reviews! I wish everyone who reviewed makeup was as thorough as you are! I always know that when I watch any of your product reviews that I'll get all the information I could possibly need to make a smart purchase 💓 Thanks for all your hard work!
I agree that this palette can be used by everyone if you like the color story. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and people need to relax. I’ve only used the more neutral shades and those mattes blend better in my opinion than the mattes in my other ABH palettes. To be fair, ABH does not have my favorite formula. I always have to be so careful using the mattes because they can get muddy to me. Thank you for giving us such thorough reviews.
Jenny K exactly! It’s not intimidating really but even though I have almost all these shades I haven’t seen them put together this way which I really apprecy
“If you want it it’s made for you!”- I absolutely love that quote. Thanks for the detailed review, I already own this palette but am going to recreate almost all your looks they were so pretty 🙋🏾
Is this the best eye shadow review series on TH-cam? In my humble opinion, yes! I can see what you mean about daily use, it would be a great palette for special occasions, especially in autumn/winter. That purple look you created was my favourite, absolutely stunning.
I have been waiting for this.!! Yay ! I’m of a deep tone and I mostly use this for all my other palettes to deepen looks or make them more friendly for my skin tone. This pairs good with Carli Bybel. But even on brown skin things can get very dark quickly because of the tones. I always respect your opinion, you give fair no bs reviews.
Please don’t feel bad for not loving the palette. Perhaps someone else will love it. I just decluttered over thirty palettes in the last two months that I purchased in the last year. It is my mission to adore all my makeup, not just like. I gave them to my son’s friends and they were so excited. Makeup is subjective.
I love this series. First impressions are often misleading. You inspired me to get to know my palette collection better. And so, a challenge joined my project pan - one week one pallet. If I like working with the palette, it stays for the second week, then returns to the collection. If I don't like it - I give it to someone who wants to try it out.
It’s been awhile since I watched one of your 1 week, 1 palette reviews and this made me feel like I’ve been missing out. I really enjoyed the in-depth review of the looks and formulas. 💜
I’m beige AF, and that palette was MADE FOR ME! :) I love the intensity of the shades. And, yes, I’m very lucky to work in an office where I can get away with putting whatever I want on my face. Always enjoy your reviews. So thorough, and I appreciate that you’re able to recognize both “looks good” and “looks good and makes me feel good”.
This was my favorite palette of 2019. And I buy eeeevvvvverthing. This color story. Perfection. Pigmentation. Perfection. ❤️also: try the tutorial that Jackie did on herself with the red shade. It is so pretty.
Ohmajesus, I GASPED when you swatched that red shade! 😍 I love this series that you do. It's way more realistic that one-look reviews as regular people will use the hell out of any palette they spend their coin on.
I enjoy this palette a ton. But to be honest, I wouldn't be able to enjoy it in the summer. I think had it been cold outside when you tested these, you would have been quite drawn to it. Anyway, you are incredibly gorgeous and I am grateful for the review because I am around your coloring and I appreciate the looks you created. Thank you. Also- I mix my SULTRY with the JA all the time. 😁
Yay...I've been eyeing this pallate for awhile and after I saw your eyelook yesterday on BN I'm even more interested.. Thanks Kat. Edit to add: that red really brought out the green in your eyes. I thought you had brown eyes but that color shows the hazel.
Haha I do have brown eyes but it is fun to see how different shades set off different tones in eyes. I love green tones because they bring out the warmth in my eyes and I avoid really light frosty looks or really pink nude looks because they make my eye colour almost look black
I love how clear your camera is and the up close shots. They are super helpful in seeing the details of the look and colour. Thanks for your hard work! 💖
I love this palette. I decluttered my Carli Bybel. The Jackie Aina palette is lovely. The shimmers are so my jam. It took me a bit to order it, but I’m so glad I did. I purchased it on sale, too. I often use ginger in my crease and blend the edges with my translucent powder.
I LOVED the looks you created, but I can understand your thought process with this palette. I agree I don’t think it’s an everyday palette either but I ADORE reaching for it on the weekend and pairing it with other palettes. The pink and purple also stained my lid and I’m much darker than you. I have been enjoying getting some different looks with this palette. It reminds me of the good sport palette from colourpop which most people loved because the color story is so different. I know for these videos you like to use just the one palette but for everyday it’s ok to pull in different shades
I always love your reviews because I know you'll be extremely thorough and brutally honest 🥰🥰 Thanks for all of your hard work. I didnt pick this pallette up, because even though it's beautiful, I know myself well enough to know I wouldn't use it enough to justify the price.
So relate-able. This palette had been on my wishlist for so long just for the reason that many youtubers said this is their fav from 2019. But none of the looks really stood out to me, but I kept hoping that it might worth a try. Im glad you said it :)
It's nice to know that the palette works together as a cohesive unit. I think Jackie did a great job with the curation (I don't have it, myself, but based on swatching it and watching others use it). It seems clear the critique is more directed at ABH for their formulas and what. Which is a totally fair criticism. The fact that the curation is well thought out is important but also, in itself, kind of a critique of ABH LOL because you'd think a makeup brand like that would know how to make a cohesive palette without an influencer coming in to explain it to them. XD Love your reviews and how thorough you are!!
I love this format so much! It's so great to get such a thorough review of a single product and sooooo many different looks. thank you so much for doing these
If I spent my money on it and like it, it's for me. Never understood why people freak out so much over what others like and don't like. Everyone will always have something to say. People are saying the Carli palette is just for fairer skin, but I have seen people across all skin tones using it. I do appreciate brands like Sydney Grace that do put out more than one shade range of a particular palette though because it is just thoughtful.
Kat, I know you said that you weren't thrilled with the last look, but I wanted to tell you that it looks beautiful on camera! The depth of the colors is the reason I didn't get this palette. I'm very fair, so it is darker than what I like for myself. It's a gorgeous palette, but I had some of the same thoughts as you did. I'm happy that it was successful for ABH and Jackie, though.
The color story may not be your jam but damn....these looks are bomb. You did such a good job and it reminds how good you are with putting together colors.
Still think this is the best abh palette..and I am pale too 👯♀️ you'll probably be disappointed with the Carli Bybel palette as the shades have inconsistent quality but I'm excited to see your looks.
That red look on you was amazing! I love this palette and I have made the most unique looks with it. Also, the only palette I’m not allergic to. I love ABH for that.
I swear, you can put any shimmer with any matte together from that palette and it looks beautiful! I wasn't going to get this one but Macy's had it half off and that was just about right for me. I really like it, that darker caramel shade in particular is so flattering. It gives a reddish vibe without the pink eye look 😁
This red vampy look is gorgeous on you... Wow.. I wish I could pull that type of look of without looking crazy to everyone that's used to seeing me in nude shades.. And that cool toned brown shade is stunning.. Ps the red shade has Hailey's name all over it..
I really love this series and your discussions about what you love to combine and what’s missing. I’m trying to be more critical of color stories to buy better. And as I get more into singles this is really helping me put together custom color stories.
Great review and I have to agree with most if it. Its not one I reach for everyday, going to work etc but great for going out. That red looked stunning on you!
I think all of your looks (except the light browny/gold one from day #4) were really special and gorgeous! I think all the other looks were very inspired and unexpectedly lovely! You've got a great eyeshadow game.
Yeah looks that have winged liner always look the best on me, and that look would have been 10x better with liner but I try to do a look or two with more toned down makeup in these videos because I don't like wearing a full face of makeup every day :)
I LOVE this palette in theory like you said but I only end up reaching for it at night or for ONE color from it mixed with another palette. I don't ever use palettes with the rule of using ONLY that palette for a look but I love that you only do that for the purposes of these in detail videos because it makes you get creative with your collection and it's made me re-think this palette a little and how I can make some new looks. I have focused on some certain colors so I want to re-discover it a little. I absolutely love your reviews so thank you for getting so detailed.
I have to use this palette as a companion palette. I love the duochrome shade & the muted pinky shade but I was disappointed in the purples & that shimmery red( I have a similar shade from Coloured Raine I prefer tbh.) I have some gorgeous shimmery purples & lavenders from indie brands that I like much better. I'm very fair & I think many of the shades that are supposed to be lid shades are too dark on me worn on their own so I have to bring in singles from my collection to keep the look from being too flat. The shimmers overall weren't very shimmery compared to others I own. I also needed to dip into Modern Ren for my midtone transition shade & brow bone highlight ( I understand this palette was formulatd for POC & I expected that & it didn't bother me) I thought I was buying a purple & green palette & it just wasn't. I have purples & greens I prefer in singles from other brands. And I already have tons of warm browns & gold shimmers that I like better so I don't really use this palette very often.
I looooove chunky sparkly shimmery shades! They're my jam. So this palette is perfect for me. I'm extremely fair (ahem! why is it bad that the red shadow made you look "really really pale"? there's nothing wrong with pale skin, or any color of skin!) but I have zero problem with the darker shade range as dark colors are also my jam. I love a dramatic, contrasty look. The red shadow was amazing on you! It brought out your pretty dark eyes so well! I appreciate that this one palette/one week concept really makes you stretch your skills AND your normal preferences and tastes. Too many TH-cam makeup artists just do the same look overandoverandoverandover. It's good to branch out, even if it means working outside your comfort zone--after all, a look you can't stand may be perfect for someone else, so you just gave that person a gorgeous idea to work with. :-)
It is just an observation about how makeup reads on camera, it is not a negative judgement about pale skin, or any skin tone. I try my hardest to get the lighting and colouring look as accurate as possible on camera and whenever a makeup look throws off the lighting or colouring it really annoys me because it isn't accurate to the look. So whether makeup makes me look really light, really tanned, really red, really green... whatever it might be, it annoys me from a creators point of view.
Your bronzer and highlight looked so beautiful...especially in the look that you showed inside and in the car. Gorgeous! Some very pretty, glam looks.😍 xo
Cut the lashes in half to get half lashes!! Why didn't I think of that! Genius! This is the only palette I got from ABH and love it!. I'm a beginner and it is the only palette I don't have issues with blending! Thanks for sharing your take on this palette! Edit: Look #3 looks AWESOME!! It looks like how people are using the Natasha Denona Love palette. Some one mention that it can be a dupe for that palette. I was like. Um? Sure? But after you did this look! Yaaaaaaaass. Saved me some coin. I'm darker complexion (Deep Dark) so the colors look different on me, but still love your looks, even the ones you didn't really like, it still looked awesome! You have some mad skills!
Great and unbiased review again! Thanks so much for doing these, Kat! Looking forward to more 1 week 1 palettes 😻 P.S. I don’t have the Jackie palette, but there are a few that I own and love that don’t work that well for you. So this complement from me is also completely unbiased 😁 I don’t sing praise just because I always agree with your reviews.
Oh and BTW I VIBE with chunky shades so that’s another reason. I love textured shadows that give a lot of sparkle and glitter and texture to the eyelids.
I really love how u can mix such colors that may scare be a bit but u make it soooo wearable and beautiful! I’ve only made it through the 1st eye look and had to comment! Lol.
That colorstory speaks to my soul and I love that palette!!! It’s my favorite and most used palette that I own. It’s amazing how different those colors look on different skin tones. Pinker is so dark on you but shows up really bright pink on me. It’s an everyday palette for me...I have to force my self to reach for other palettes so I’m not using this one on the daily.
I think you came up with a lot of really beautiful looks. I bought this as one of my last purchases before a year long no buy and I’m glad to have it- it challenges me a bit and will help keep things interesting over the next year when I don’t have anything new. (However I do agree a little with you on the color story - not perfect for me but not regretting my purchase.)
this was comforting to hear b/c the color story did not personally speak to me as strongly either (I'm less into pinks and purples), but bc of how much everyone seems to love it, I kept wondering if I was missing out.
Thanks for helping me get over FOMO. I keep going back to this palette since so many people say it is their favorite palette. I swatched it in November and wasn't interested but after so many people said that it was their favorite palette ever I wondered if I was missing something
Best palette of 2019! So, so glad you did this video. I haven’t mixed some of the shades you did so I’m excited as hell to use more of the palette like you did. I’m really looking forward to the same video idea for the Carli Bible palette as well!
I’m with you on this one. I reviewed it on my Instagram a while back and I had pretty much all the same issues. I thought maybe it was just me having that patchy issue with the matte browns. But as soon as you started talking about the colour building on itself and getting darker and darker I knew exactly what you meant. And so many people love that Zam shade but I had a difficult time with it because of how chunky it is. I couldn’t get it to stick well as a topper over a matte but if I did it over a base I got too much and it made my lids look scaly. I don’t know it was a bit weird!
I picked it up for 50% at Macy's, but if I hadn't I would definitely be excited for when it hits TJ Maxx. Riveria & Alyssa Edwards just hit TJ Maxx in February
Jennifer Bossinger Yes! Got both of those, just waiting on Jackie right now. I’ll take the Carli Bybel if it shows up first, but I really do want the JA palette!!
Hi Kat! Once again i loved your video! But everything else aside I really like the way you think. The most precious part of the video for me was right at the end, explaining your stand on makeup!
Oh, I loved the Illamasqua matte you used with Lituation. That's probably my fave shade from the palette but I agree it needs something cooler or more neutral to go with. I sub in a very dark, cool matte brown from another palette when I use Lituation all over my lid. Really really loved the purple and copper look too!
I always appreciate these 1w1p reviews from you Kat, very balanced and thorough! 🙂 That red is gorgeous, how does it compare to the red shimmer in the Kaleidos Cyber Bronze palette (or if you have something else that's comparable)?
Thank you for this review! You confirmed what I've felt about this palette since the launch-gorgeous, but the colors just aren't for me. Other people are clearly loving it, and it's okay that there's makeup out there that isn't made for me, because so much of it still is. You still made some bomb looks!
I love this one and the Carli bybel palette! I’ve been using them both together a lot and I’d like to see a tutorial using both palettes. I haven’t been able to find a video on that yet, but I’m saving this video so I can come back to it and try some of these looks. Thanks for this! It definitely helps a lot!
You really made some beautiful looks! These colors are too much for me, but I enjoy them on other people . It takes a fair amount of shadow to show up on my deep skin and hooded eyes.
I do feel that some color palettes are going to suit better for lighter tones and some for darker skin tones. "Not for you" is quite unfair to say but in aggregate I do feel that there are is so much more in the market for lighter skin tones and that plays some part in why the jackie aina palette was celebrated, cause it leans towards darker tones without being some simplistic pigment loaded boring color story, which is often what tends to happen
Your eyes look like they have quite a bit of green. I have to say that I appreciate your honesty a lot. TFS but still looking for a certain palette. This one got close. That cool brownish color is so pretty. I like the the same half you like.
Omgodness! Although you weren't feeling some of your looks.... you looked amazing! Plus, i bought the palette and haven't used it because i wasn't sure how to get started. I'm copying 6 out of 7 looks!

Well it’s an awesome palette and didn’t get the attention that deserved I’m light skin and still enjoy this one

This is my favorite ABH palette!!!!! I love it so much!
Funny how we see things differently.i thought the pink eyelook looked stunning with you skin and eye colour
I'm watching this with Chinese takeaway, life's GOOD
I’ve been loving this so much. Possibly my top two palettes of 2019. She did a BRILLIANT job putting it together 💜💜
I agree! It's so smart and cohesive, but not in an obvious way.
Jenny K exactly! It’s not intimidating really but even though I have almost all these shades I haven’t seen them put together this way which I really apprecy
I got it a couple months ago and it is one of my absolute favorites! I think it is so unique!

One week one palette: the movie
Loved it, I thought the kick off was just my imagination. Thanks for the review
Purple and pinks look STUNNING ON YOU !!!!
I thought the looks you did were amazing and you looked gorge! Sorry that you didn’t feel like it vibed with you.
I love this format so much! It's so great to get such a thorough review of a single product and sooooo many different looks. thank you so much for doing these
The red is what keeps turning my head toward this palette. It's so unique and difficult to dupe.
If I spent my money on it and like it, it's for me. Never understood why people freak out so much over what others like and don't like. Everyone will always have something to say. Look 6 was my fav with the purples but I do love your 1 week 1 palette reviews. Nice variety of looks.
Love your honesty. I am a woman of color and I still love the tones in the palette but do notice and agree with all the flaws that you have outlined.
Thu is my favorite type of video, thanks for all the time you put into this.
That red alone makes this palette ❤
I like watching these for the eyeshadow tutorials! Thanks again on a job well done. Love this format.
Really like 2,5, and 6. You look good in red shadow. It's a pretty palette.
I love that lip in the final look- what is it?! Also now I’m inspired to play with my one purple shadow in my collection
I really love this series and your discussions about what you love to combine and what’s missing. I’m trying to be more critical of color stories to buy better. And as I get more into singles this is really helping me put together custom color stories.
The fifth look is stunning, the brown / silvery shadow is so unique! Thank you for the in depth review!
Great review and I have to agree with most if it. Its not one I reach for everyday, going to work etc but great for going out. That red looked stunning on you!
This is like my fav palette ever!!!
The red look was gorgeous!
Thank love for your ABH 1 week 1 palette videos!!
Your bronzer and highlight looked so beautiful...especially in the look that you showed inside and in the car. Gorgeous! Some very pretty, glam looks.😍 xo
You look so good in the pink look though!!! It goes so well with your skin tone. So pretty!
I know the pinks aren't your favorite but I do think that pinky sunset look was stunning on you. Might have to see if I have enough dupes to try it
Great and unbiased review again! Thanks so much for doing these, Kat! Looking forward to more 1 week 1 palettes 😻
P.S. I don’t have the Jackie palette, but there are a few that I own and love that don’t work that well for you. So this complement from me is also completely unbiased 😁 I don’t sing praise just because I always agree with your reviews.
I love this 7 look video, especially since it’s not a BRAND new palette! So great to see many ideas for one palette. Subscribing!
Lol.
I LOVE look 5! Very dramatic but makes your eyes really pop 😍
Excellent thorough review as always! 👍😘
Omg I've been waiting for this video from you . I personally adore this palette .
Fuck I never noticed how nuanced the colours were before. It's beautiful, Jackie did an amazing job picking those out.
I honestly loved the pink look on you most! I'm shocked you didn't like it much! It looks gorgeous on you. :)
I really like that pink look on you!!
This is one of my favorite palettes of all time!
I really enjoy this palette, but I do find that it's not a good daily palette for me. I'm going to have to try to recreate some of your looks.
I cannot wait for this to come to TJ Maxx. I am hopeful because Ulta pulled it from their website last week.
Using that red with the sultry palette hmmmmm eta: i would almost buy this only for the red and use it the sultry i feel that look was fantastic!
Omg - that is such an amazing idea - if I could wear red to work, I would try the combination tomorrow 🤣
Love the pink tones on you!
Omg I loved all the looks 🔥🔥💜💜 Gorgeous
Your eyes look like they have quite a bit of green. I have to say that I appreciate your honesty a lot. TFS but still looking for a certain palette. This one got close. That cool brownish color is so pretty. I like the the same half you like.
I know I’m really late to the party, but look #5 was absolutely gorgeous. 😍
Thanks for your honest review. Yiu made very pretty looks. My favorites was your first and third ones.
Thanks for the review! I just got this palette and this gives me great inspiration
This is soft glam with pops of colour 🙂
I think all the looks u did looked great!!!
Your opinions are valid.
No one should be told their opinions don't matter... It is rude and dismissive.
Omgodness! Although you weren't feeling some of your looks.... you looked amazing! Plus, i bought the palette and haven't used it because i wasn't sure how to get started. I'm copying 6 out of 7 looks!
Love this palette! Thank you for the look inspiration! Awesome
