Glad to see her back in action! I live like 45 minutes from Silver Lake Sand Dunes. It's a very fun place to ride but gets really crowded on weekends.. If you ever get the chance, go there on a random Tuesday, the parking lot will be almost empty and you'll have the dunes mostly to yourself!!! Great time to explore New Lines!
Hey Mike, can you give a quick rundown on the leak down tester you put together for this? I need to make one. THANK YOU FOR ALL OF YOU VIDEOS!!! THEY'VE BEEN EXTREMELY HELPFUL!!
great job Mike. Let me recommend to use an exaust gas temperature gauge to see exactly what your conditions are and jet it to the max on any high power 2-stroke. I have both of my banshee's equipped with this and it works just fine. One i bought from Koso and one i build on my own. This is a mod you haven't done jet. looking forward, may you will consider. creetings from Germany. Good job Mike👍
I races hare scrambles on a 250r and newer 450s and would pick a 250r over any other quad. They might not have the low end torque of a 4 stroke but they're easier to throw around trees by kinda twisting your body and getting your weight to pivot around a tight turn and they didn't wear me out as much as hanging on to a torquey 4 stroke. Plus 2 stroke noises and smells! Miss the smell of 110 race gas and oil! Sweet build man!
Great job Mike! I watched every video of the build & I really enjoyed every step by step video. The meticulous attention to detail & patience was top notch. I’ve been on the hunt for a 250r & plan to purchase one soon. Thanks for sharing all your knowledge. Hello from New Hampshire. Thanks Jason
Killer job mike, done a phenomenal job getting it straightened out. Make sure you got those lines off and away from the heat. I believe this will be a ripper! Can't wait to see it tearing up the street
Nice to see her back up and running again! Love how you flushed out that temp gauge! Years ago i used to run the trail tech cpu’s and had mine cut in the same way in the bad def a cool look! Great vid man!
So cool to see the honing work so well and hear that thing rip again, could have saved a lot of money on my yz250 build had I have known the flexhone was so killer.. Great stuff man keep it up!
The 310 CEO is a fun motor but if you wanted to really have a comparable motor to the banshee you should have built a CPI sphinx 363 at minimum or a 431 puma or 431 lynx motor. Those big bores would have been comparable to the banshee motor and serious rippers. Ive owned and rode many 250r configurations and i personally feel 310's are fun but leave you wanting more especially after riding an 80 hp banshee. You should consider in the future sending your motor to either Rob Selvy, Dave Moore, Bubba Ramsey, or Arlan Lehman and have them build you a serious 250r motor. Not to say your 310 isn't fast or fun but when you ride one of the setups I mentioned you will forget about anything less than a 363R ported by one of the guys I mentioned. I must say I really like what your doing on your channel with the king of sport quads the "Legendary" 250R. Keep on doing what your doing Mike.
Thank you for all the info man; I was lucky enough to ride some pretty serious 250R at silver lake to feel the power difference. I actually wanted the power to be on the mild/controllable side for this build, but I'd love to switch over to a Sphinx setup down the like!
You actually want to do a tank full of gas/ 3 or 4 ,20 minute small rides before you go for a long full Rip on a fresh rebuild !!!!!!Make sure its heat cycled, and lubed up well,it's sounds much better this time around, hope you get a nice ride
Remember when riding hard use full throttle and the killswitch to slow down. All that premix geting pumped trough the engine without burning will cool it fast and lube it.
Been watching for a bit. Enjoy your 250r build vids. Was bummed when it blew up on the dunes but hey it happens. I ride a 08 trx700xx different machines same sport. Keep it up
Awesome to see the R running again. What are you going by as far as tuning? Are you reading the plug to see where your carb settings are now that you have this up and running? Your series went from building and getting it running to immediately ripping it at the dunes and wasn't sure if there was some tuning that went on there behind the scenes? Maybe I missed it. One more thing I wanted to mention, I noticed the vent on your tank cap. I have a similar Tusk version on mine and it was acting like a check valve and not a breather and it was pressurizing my tank so much so that it was expanding the plastic tank and deforming it to the point where it was sitting funny on the bike which is how I noticed. It was like leaving a sealed plastic gas can out on a hot day in the sun when it gets all swolen from the gas vapor pressure. I wasn't aware if there was a breather type versus a check valve type when I bought it and it wasn't right for me but wanted to mention my experience as maybe something else to look for because it can cause other problems for your carb too. I'm ditching mine and going with just a hose into the stem old school style. Sucks to have to go through that, but nice recovery man.
Did you ever consider making a quad with a fuel injection kit? Should be interesting. I converted my Kymco Agility 50cc moped and it was really interesting. Lots of tuning capabilities! Love your videos!
Thanks for watching my videos Marcel; this is a great idea but it would be all new for me for sure. I'm not sure I've heard of anyone doing this with a 250R yet but it would be pretty awesome.
@@MichaelSabo Maybe to try out in the future! I am running a $200 alibaba kit. Even with the basic engine knowledge I have it was easy to install and easy to tune. It's port injection so it can replace a stock carburetor. I guess if you like a higher quality, USA made system, you can check a company like www.ecotrons.com. Cheers!
Glad to see you fixed it, & found a way to stop your fuel hoses being melted again. I gotta say Mike that the blue hose looks fugly mate. It's a bit too loud a colour compared to the beige frame & alloy engine. It would be good if you could find a piece of black hose instead.

I raise 250 yards for a long time know them inside and out it definitely won't feel as powerful as the banshee but take it on any track ,woods, Motocross and you will be faster on the 250r simply for the way it handles
I told him his fuel delivery system was his issue the first time. It needs to be modified. I would modify the stock tank fitting, so fuel flows from the on and reserve at all times. or buy a Pingle, also the gas cap vent is a big deal as well.

Maybe you do do this, but I’ve watched a lot of your videos and have never seen or heard you talk about it. On 2 strokes you should look at piston wash and do plug chops. Seems you only jet on how the thing is running. That’s works ok for 4 stokes but can be catastrophic when done on 2 stokes. Many times I rebuild motors and the guy says it was running the best it’s ever run right before it blew up. Lean out a 2 stroke will do this. Fuel filter from the tank to the carb a big no no will drop fuel flow quite a bit. Get a filter for the gas can, and use fresh 110 out of the a can. Not out of the pump remember you saying you were running 110 I believe.
Its tedious but I would get a master jet kit for that carb and take it out and start with jetting that you know it beyond rich and make passes and drop 1-2 jet sizes at a time until you reach the point where you wont gain any power if not just do constant plug readings and listen to the exhaust, the exhaust will usually get a really distinct loud ping in the exhaust when the engine is too lean and the idle will usually hang, also check the screen on the petcock valve in the tank and make sure it's got adequate flow
hey man if thats a paper inline fuel filter it will lean it out . the paper catches the oil . get a screen filter like inside the tank . theres a reason why that is a screen filter . trust me i just went through this making my bike capable of racing xc from mx

Cant wait to see the video on the trailriding in the coal mines, I love st clair, but theyre getting way too strict on where you can enter and having to pay to ride somewhere that we all used to ride in from in the city.
What was the tool you were using with wrench and torque wrench when torquing base bolt? Great video’s, Show all sides of build, failures and success. Don’t change 👍
You may have already thought of or answered the question. When you torque with the extension did you have to calculate that in or does it not make a difference.
It depends on the angle your wrench is at when you're torquing. Sometimes you do need to calculate it using an equation. The info can be found on Motion Pros website.
@@MichaelSabo what is it? With lower torque specs, being off a few lbs could mean good or bad. To be precise you would have to know the composition and heat treatments of the steels from one extention to the next. Even when those extensions are made by the same company but from different batches. Im curious now.
So I kinda did the same thing mike did with my banshee. But not as bad, it’s a 64.50 bore. Would 64mm ball hone be my best option and do just fine ??Didn’t see anything else but a 67mm besides the 64mm. Any help appreciated. Love the 250r

Another awesome video brother! I would love to hit the trails with you, we are at fro all the time
What was the tool you were using with wrench and torque wrench when torquing base bolt? Great video’s,
Show all sides of build, failures and success. Don’t change 👍
you should get a lectron carburetor they are quite expensive but i heard they are amazing
You may have already thought of or answered the question. When you torque with the extension did you have to calculate that in or does it not make a difference.
It depends on the angle your wrench is at when you're torquing. Sometimes you do need to calculate it using an equation. The info can be found on Motion Pros website.
its time for a trx 450r build
My wife would call the cops before my neighbors. lol. Love the videos.
Miss my 250r but that thing is sick🤟
I've been told the 250rs should have more bottom end then a banshee?! 🤣 I'm sure there will be tons of 250r fanatics chime in...
Great video! What’s the tool you have that allows you to Connect the wrench to the torque wrench
That long extention throws off your torque reading.
There is an equation that I use to calculate the torque.
@@MichaelSabo what is it? With lower torque specs, being off a few lbs could mean good or bad. To be precise you would have to know the composition and heat treatments of the steels from one extention to the next. Even when those extensions are made by the same company but from different batches.
Im curious now.

Omg the 250r looks so good 😍😍😍
So I kinda did the same thing mike did with my banshee. But not as bad, it’s a 64.50 bore. Would 64mm ball hone be my best option and do just fine ??Didn’t see anything else but a 67mm besides the 64mm. Any help appreciated. Love the 250r
Nice job. Very nice 👍🏼 🏁🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
42 pilot seems lean for a big bore?? Especially running VP fuel, what’s the plug look like after a full throttle pull and shutdown??
