Fyfe Robertson reports from the Lake of Menteith, also known as Loch Inchmahome, where the Big Freeze of 1963 has led to the formation of six solid inches of the finest black ice over the surface of the loch. For only the eleventh time this century, conditions are perfect for one of the great Scottish sporting traditions - the Bonspiel; the Grand Match of curling.
Curlers from all over Scotland descend on the loch in their droves for an epic curling battle between North Scotland and South Scotland, there are some 220 curling rinks hosting 440 teams of 4.

My late Father was their, and I recognised the late Sheriff of Kinross John Kidd, the gentleman at the beginning with his amazing twirly moustache.

Kenneth Morton, you maybe able to help us find the owner of a antique lighter that we came across as we were digging up old ground to turn into a garden for the public here in Maryhill Glasgow, it is ingraved with the name of the event and championship winners 1963, I will try figure out how to post a couple of photos of the lighter, it would be amazing to get it back to the family,
