i think it would be interesting to add a random behavior trigger to jeffery basically, every time he spawns he would have a random condition that, if fulfilled, switches his goal for example, he could change his goal if attacked, if a player goes near him, after a certain time, at random each second, etc. that would allow each jeffery to be truly unpredictable maybe some jefferys could even change their behavior each second ?
@Gargin this change would add nearly infinite number of different combinations and make them completely impossible to predict. As it is now once they spawn in you can get a sense for each ones behaviors after an unpredictable introduction. Just look at the numbers 😂
I feel like this reaches a weakness of averages. While it makes it more random, it paradoxically makes it more predictable. Afterall, this Jeffrey is an unknown danger every time he appears, sometimes he's perfectly fine. A Jeffrey that keeps changing goals seems likely to just seem like either a hostile mob, or a will be hostile mob, ie, the player will just treat them the same every time.
How to make him even more unpredictable: - Make him have a chance to drop any item in the entire game - Make each pixel of his skin be any RGB value (or just have a few preset colors if that's too much) - Give him a chance to play any sound at any point

I have a suggestion- Have Jeffery able to act differently... To different things. Like, for the most part, how Jeffery acts is purely towards the player. But other mobs can have relationships with different mobs. For example, some mobs, like ender men, piglins, and iron golems, HATE and attack other, specific mobs- being endermites, hoglins, and zombies. Some mobs, like creepers, or villagers, FEAR other mobs, like cats, and zombies. Some mobs, like iron golems or zombie pigmen, ALLY themselves with other, different mobs, like villagers, attacking if a player attacked the villager, or another zombie pigman. And, of course, plenty of mobs are neutral to other mobs, only attacking if they are attacked by them- Like skeletons with other skeletons. And some mobs are passive to other mobs, not really doing anything with that mob. So, obviously, when Jeffery spawns, one of the lists of variables he has, should be his relationship to every other type of mob in the game- Including other Jefferys. Maybe this Jeffery hates wandering traders, and attacks them on sight. Maybe that Jeffery hates wither skeletons, but is chill with normal skeletons. Probably should keep an eye on him in case he starts getting ideas about becoming president and building a wall... And maybe this other Jeffery will end you, if you dare attack his friend, the sheep. Maybe even code in some NEW possible relationships too. Like a Jeffery who loves a certain mob, and will try and be near it. Oh, and don't forget to do this to blocks, too. Piglins are scared of soul fire and hoglins are afraid of warped fungus. What kinds of blocks might Jeffery run from? Or go to? Or destroy on sight? Maybe to keep this one simple, so he's not just running from or to every block around him, and have it where each block type only has a small chance to be something he likes or doesn't like.
Jeffery feeling different ways about different blocks means he can randomly place a block, and go 'Nah, I don't like it', and instantly destroy it. Or, place a block, instantly feel sheer terror, and run away. Just a funny thought.
This has potential but it is too random, yet. He hasn't "free will" as he doesn't have ambitions or motivations to achive something because a big number of variations alone is not very useful for gameplay. Jeffrey needs some kind of limitations / rules to be more interesting and funny. For example: I wouldn't spawn him directly in front of you when doing something. When beeing aggressive he should follow randomly created attack moves and react to player movement and when getting damaged to change behaviour. He generally needs some tweaking because I think this would make him not only boring unpredictable but give him character. I also would recommend to allow him to spawn in a range of different colors and color patterns and maybe only 1 or 2 at once? Or at least with a cooldown until more can spawn somewhere

Gargin made Gargitron and the Cave Dweller. 2 of the scariest mods for Gmod and Minecraft. Now he makes a completely random mob, makes it look stupid, and names it JEFFERY. Absolutely one of my fav mod devs. Gargin has become well known in the Minecraft and Garrys Mod community. Absolutely awesome. I sure can’t wait to see the next horrifying monstrosity you make next!
Missed opportunity to randomized his attributes too, he could be really big or small with scale, die whenever he goes down stairs or become immune to fall damage with safe_fall_distance, follow you but can't hurt you because his reach is too short or became a hacker that can hit you from 60 blocks away, having randomized gravity from so high that he can't jump or so low too the point he has moon gravity, no gravity so he couldn't move up ir down just floating, negative for him to fell up into the sky, not being able to jump or having super jump, speed as slow as you irl or passing sonic easily, die in one hit or became a nearly impossible dark souls boss that you can't kill, can't deal damage to one-shotting everything, and SO MUCH MORE, AND THIS IS POSSIBLE WITH VANILLA COMMANDS, just type /attribute @a and the auto correct will show all of the thing you can do, it's really fun to mess around and I recommend you to try it :)

This mob is a lot like that minecraft infinite dimensions snapshot: While technically every new thing is very unique, It all start feeling same-y very quickly, even with your final version
I don't think there's very many innately distinct goals. Any hostile mob has goal of attack player. Passive mobs kinda just walk around. There's a few entities that target non-player mobs, like wolves hunting sheep but that might not even ever come into play if you don't have a sheep around Jeffery. Would probably be more interesting if it could decide to have a goal of being around a specific block type or item. Jeffery that teleport to you to steal your dirt blocks. One that keeps placing pink wool. Etc

For more randomness, you could make him be able to play 1 sound from the list of Minecraft sound files (so like each one has one sound in addition to being able to speak, so one could have the ability to play the sound for breaking amethyst). And you could make each pixel on him be a random color
Imo you should make his contact damage not unavoidable or tone it down a lot, so the other behaviours get more time to shine too. It's a really funny idea, but a lot of the interactions seemingly boil down to "contact damage at light speed ur dead"
I think a good idea would be to let their prior numbers be re-rolled at random to add to their unpredictableness. That way the player could never predict jeffery's actions based on their behavior they spawn with.
you should make Jeffrey's cuboids scale and re-rig to the mob he's imitating at the time (sudden or rapid changes fit the vibe), so depending on whose goal he's using he'll scrunch down to rabbit size for a few hops, then it's overriden by just a few game ticks of zombie pose before rising into the air as a meowing head with little feelers under
If it’s possible, it could be cool if Jeffery’s priority could also reroll every so often when he is already spawned in, so that even if he spawns in passively, you can’t be sure that he will remain that way and you can’t just write him off based off of how he spawns. That would make him even more random. One second he could be trying to kill you and the next he’ll give you a diamond block, or maybe even a chance of another Jeffrey spawning on death
Like 3 quattordecillion vs 120 quattordecillion, it's closer to 40 times. To have only 1/40th the amount of variations as atoms in the ocean is still impressive.
You should make it so that if more than one Jeffrey is in the same area they have a chance of reproducing and the offspring Jeffrey has a random mix of the parent's traits

I don't think there's very many innately distinct goals. Any hostile mob has goal of attack player. Passive mobs kinda just walk around. There's a few entities that target non-player mobs, like wolves hunting sheep but that might not even ever come into play if you don't have a sheep around Jeffery.
Would probably be more interesting if it could decide to have a goal of being around a specific block type or item.
Jeffery that teleport to you to steal your dirt blocks. One that keeps placing pink wool. Etc
@aogasd you might be able to take the hunting behaviors and make it so that it chooses a random target within its line of sight.

Imo you should make his contact damage not unavoidable or tone it down a lot, so the other behaviours get more time to shine too. It's a really funny idea, but a lot of the interactions seemingly boil down to "contact damage at light speed ur dead"

I think a good idea would be to let their prior numbers be re-rolled at random to add to their unpredictableness.
That way the player could never predict jeffery's actions based on their behavior they spawn with.
you should make Jeffrey's cuboids scale and re-rig to the mob he's imitating at the time (sudden or rapid changes fit the vibe), so depending on whose goal he's using he'll scrunch down to rabbit size for a few hops, then it's overriden by just a few game ticks of zombie pose before rising into the air as a meowing head with little feelers under

If it’s possible, it could be cool if Jeffery’s priority could also reroll every so often when he is already spawned in, so that even if he spawns in passively, you can’t be sure that he will remain that way and you can’t just write him off based off of how he spawns. That would make him even more random. One second he could be trying to kill you and the next he’ll give you a diamond block, or maybe even a chance of another Jeffrey spawning on death
