Bro I need help I have 2080 hours on rocket league and I’m only diamond 1 and I’m hard stuck between plat 3 and diamond 1 so pls help me 😭😭😭😭😭😭
I understand now why the ranks feel so messed up nowadays. It's because now instead of just rotations and speed you have people that are super mechanical and everything between. So depending on the day you'll just get better or worse players against your own playstyle.
Yeah like I think at around champ and grandchamp you get a mix of players. One sort are great mechanically and try and outplay everyone, and the other sort are solid with rotations and game sense. Each sort calls each other trash and round and round we go
Nah I’m diamond and players can either aerial and shoot properly, or I’m left questioning how they even made it to diamond😂
When the game resets the ranks, it only punishes solo-players. If you Que with a TM every game, it will take you a day to reach your old rank.
I am gold 2 and can confirm that. Some guys can air dribble goal no problem, others just know dribble and flicks, I don't know any of these and can still win, only with better positioning or defense. Close matches are rare

There's something special about a technical game with a huge skill ceiling. No buffs, nerfs, and just a meta that is left to grow. I came here from ssb melee. That game hung on for over 20 years on insane technical growth and i expect that here too. There's a lot more rocket league to be played

when i watched BDS vs G2 in 2022, i thought the players was reaching their skill ceiling.. then just some months later, ZEN appears and changes everything, forcing everyone to improve theirselves.
Next year i bet the same thing will happen, the general level of the world final will improve a lot, again.. i cant wait to watch it

I'm not watching that much RL content except for some streamers and I just learned about Zen a couple of days ago. Really crazy player and it's amazing how much you can do in this "simple" game :D
Whats amazing is that the progression between Grand Finals is likely to continue becuase of the new mechs, strats, ideas and players that keep emerging. THIS is rocket league.

additional take: the production value of worlds this past year was SOOO much better and epic, also the song they used the moment vitality won was EPIC. best ever. never change it.
I think this video is way under ranking early on. They would be GC by Year 3 in my opinion. The mechs might not be as crazy but they are all so solid and comfortable with pace.
Yes and they were already passing like crazy by S3. They just aren't paying attention to it in this video, probably because of the poor camera work
I think people dramatically undervalue game sense, positioning, and performance under pressure, and dramatically overvalue mechanics. Does anyone honestly think that Season 5 NRG wouldn't completely dismantle a random 3 stack of today's GC2s?

Don't forget, you couldn't flip reset or air roll left/right until S5 RLCS. So comparing it before then is tough to say.
Watching this vid 3 months late, that's the 1 thing that irked me. Seems like nobody in the chat realises that flip resets and dedicated air roll didn't exist for a good while. People saying mid diamond felt like a slap in the face to the OGs that built this game into what it is.
I used to play css surf with Remkoe and he was boasting he played in rl pro scene, i remember we were all very impressed, seeing this gameplay now though😂
Having worked with RLCS since RLSS (Rocket League Spring Series) some 3, soon 4 years ago, it's incredible to see just how far Rocket League and RLCS has come since it's initial stages.

As someone that has watched RL streamers over the last few years but just started playing (less than 100 hours), this was really interesting to see how it has aged. While I wil probs never even be as good as season 1 RLCS, it still gives me some hope seeing how far the game has come that I won't be this bad forever 🤣

You can get to S1 level for sure. It takes a bit of time and practice but the low to mid Diamond level - which is about where they were at - is definitely achievable for the average player.

I went to ONE live rocket league tournament. A recreational tournament to promote adaptive gaming. The final was commentated by a real RL commentator.
The only request he received as a commentator was to include that legendary "THIS IS ROCKET LEAGUE!!!" shout.

Zen was on someone else’s account when he was 13 and played in an rlcs qualifier and received a 1 year ban from rlcs that started when he was 15 because thats the youngest age you can play in the rlcs in so thats why he didn’t start in 2022 and started this year at 16

Whoever thinks S2- S4 are below GC(or C3) lvl are out of their minds. S1 diamond??? No diamond lobby ever would be able to win against them! Even with todays mecs. They will miss their flip resets und double taps 9/10 times as usually and get scored on.

I wouldn’t say season 2 but season 3 is definitely champ 3/gc1. Just my opinion though as a gc1 myself
EDIT: after watching again I’d say season 3 is around champ 3 and season 4+ is gc

There are a couple of interesting phenomena that come into play when judging rank of old gameplay. 1 is that everyone thinks their own lobbies are much faster and better than they actually are. 2 is that people drastically overrate the degree to which flashy mechanics equate to rank. You can literally get to GC on the back of great 50s and tremendous game sense, but that guy doesn't air roll so he must be Plat. It's just silly.
Yes this is a great analysis. Watching it always feels slower than playing it---nearly all these rankings are severe underestimations

Actually, my understanding is that flip reset squishy hit was the first ever flip reset hit in RLCS.

@@dynamic_shortage6532 There were flip resets done in Season 3. Possibly even earlier. Either Wayton is wrong or you misunderstood what he said. This was not even close to the first flip reset in RLCS.

I'm watching Wayton's video now and in that same section he shows 2 other goals from that same season. Squishy's goal against WDG was that same LAN I believe, and JSTN's against Rogue was during league play.

First game was Plat 3 not diamond. Second game maybe D1 if we are being generous. Year 3, that is D3. Year 4, maybe maybe maybe touching Champ 1. Y'all are crazy putting these up so high. Year 5 Champ 2. Year 6 Champ 3. Year 7 is GC 1, y'all are so much higher than y'all should be. Year 8 was not SSL. That's like GC 3. Now after that, we are SSL moving on.

Honestly about to give up on RL. I just played a 2v2 and my random team8 (Boom_Demo is his epic) was bumping me ball chasing the whole time then challenged me to a 1v1 for $300. He tried cheating giving himself 2 extra goals after I randomly lagged out then after we basically tied I 13-1 him the next game and he leaves and never paid up
Nah if you think the AVERAGE plat3 can do an aerial you’re delusional, i was going back and forth between p3 and d1 and got stuck in d2 as soon as finished my one week aerial training and started using aerials everytime i could

The end was actually actually heartwarming when I saw it. I don't know why, but it was! I really wish I could become as good as Zen.
Those first guys were so lucky because they got the opportunity to be pro and that would have encouraged them to go at it hard. Whereas there's loads of guys better than them now who will never get that opportunity and so will give up. It's fascinating how household names can be made by being in the right place at the right time.
Man, seeing the 21-22 Worlds final makes me so sad. G2 looked incredible and then crumbled halfway through game 1

This season is lowkey wack as hell. I can't play more than a single game without running into a smurf, actual GC in high diamond or low champ. I was waiting for Psyonix to try and resolve this in some way but I just don't see that happening.
if smurfs are as bad as ppl say then you are getting them on your team as much as against you. I smurf in diamond and champ and i dont win every game because some players are so bad and delusional that they genuinely have no clue what to do or where to be so everything they do is a liability and there ends up being a lot of hard 1v3's for me while my stupid low rank tm8 probably thinks theyre doing everything right. It happens a lot and ppl ignorantly try to call me out when i cant carry in a hard 1v3. i can easily 1v2 champs but some of these surprise 1v3's in even diamond are very hard to win. much harder than a GC lobby with a competent tm8
@@blackestbill7454 ur missing the point. Yes, some people just play bad for their rank from time to time. That happens. But having smurfs added to that equation for 3 ranked games or more in a row with occasional breaks has made comp just next lvl sweaty and even desperate from what it was even just a year ago. You shouldn’t have to play 5 games to get a lobby where everyone plays like the rank they’re supposed to be in. That’s a real example too. At this point I don’t see the point in ranked other than getting my rewards for the season. I honestly got my champ rewards and just started smurfing to help out some previous season champ friends because if I try to help them get up to Champ so they can get their rewards while in Champ it becomes even more skewed. Your point of view is your point of view, but I’m well aware at this point that it’s a self perpetuating problem that has made the game seem pointless to me.
@@darienwest1394 I think you’re missing the main point I was making. It isn’t just my opinion it’s mathematically accurate that in the long term you will get as many Smurf tm8’s as opponents. Learn to enable your tm8’s and avoid the mindset that you’re better and more capable than every tm8 you have. Watch some pros or high level players doing replay analysis for other players in or around your rank. There are many players that can still elevate through the ranks. Play smart, play fast, and be patient. Nobody on earth is winning every match they play. Great players lose to worse players all the time. Learn and try again
The point you’re trying to make is just to get better at the game to do better while you justify why rampant smurfing is fine then? Tell me, if you and your friend are your actual rank and you’re teamed up, how many smurfs do you get on your team while playing a series of games? The answer is zero, right? Meanwhile the odds of running into a Smurf on the other team are way too frequent at this point. What about that evens out? Playing with friends has become flat out wack, which is the only reason I play. Then once you drop rank with them you have to sweat to get out too because everyone seems to be in the wrong ranks anyway like people who we’re probably boosted or people who belong in that rank and still play like ass compared to the smurf(s) on the other team. We’re not even talking about the actual GCs who are somehow just naturally there too. And I’m not saying they are always good either because half the time I don’t understand how they got the tag. The point I’m making is that it’s flat out annoying to see ranked devolve into the joke that it is. I don’t really plan on spending more of my day to explaining why Smurfing at this rate is bad for a game like Rocket League. It’s a gaslit waste of time. Just check CBell or Sunless’s latest videos if you need a reference for that. The fact is that to me, the game either feels like a chore or a joke to play more often than not. While getting better at the game is the go-to for ranking up it isn’t my issue at all with the game. It’s that even while Mathematically somehow smurfing could be fair it’s turning ranked into a joke along with how messed up everyone’s rank seems to be right now. It’s turning into a game of who has the better smurf this time, crushing boosted players and occasionally finding someone you can actually vibe with and play the game. Smurfs used to appear once every 6 games at most on your own team or the other. Maybe 4 if you’re unlucky. But it’s just laughable now.
If you don’t agree with that I honestly don’t care what you have to say. Not trying to be rude when I say that either. I just don’t think I can give more time to something that’s nothing more than a conversation with some random person. And on another note going straight to the get better at the game card is pretty lame when someone isn’t talking about or even saying smurfing is stopping their progress.
@@darienwest1394 bro I agree with all that but the only thing anyone can do about it is to just put your head down and grind. I feel the same way but the only real solution for the ranks is for every individual to take responsibility for themselves. The ppl that don’t improve or train and just grind ranked end up getting higher rank than their actual skill level and that is just as big of a problem when solo queuing. It’s like there’s anti Smurfs that throw by existing lol. You’re right though the state of the game isn’t good. Personally I get annoyed at peoples lack of awareness in game and out of game but all I can do is improve myself and know that I’ve likely contributed to or made all the mistakes that annoy me. We need to all be more patient, humble, and hopeful. Keep your head up bro you got this

Solo matches are scuffed asf. Yesterday I had a match end at 8-0 for me and was feeing good but the very next match was 1-10 for me…
The games so predictable, in 1s its either im the smurf or im getting smurfed on. There are no people who are actually the same rank as me. Matchmaking is a joke
I don't know the last time you guys played in Plat, but the aerials in the first video are worse. This is gold at best. This is not even close to diamond.

🤣 some of you that said s1 looked like nowdays diamond or low champ are on something it looked like mid to low/mid plat other than maybe one or two decent wall shots there was terrible defense, bad rotation, no demos, no ceiling shots or air dribbles.
If youre only watching Grand finals they might be playing safe in the early seasons and not going for what was considered higher risk plays.
Watching this makes me think about Rocket League 2. How can epic improve this game and make it better and better?

After 4.5k hours and hitting ssl in season 3, im done with this trash game. Epic and the devs cant seem to make a good decision if its under their noses.

Season 1: Low GC1
Season 2: Mid GC1
Season 3: Low GC2
Season 4: Low GC3
Season 5 and up: SSL
The third world championship is definitely c1-2
