You'll never see a man run a set of big grabs that sweet again in this day and age again ! Real talent back then for sure ! Thanks brings backs the good old days of logging!!
Footage my dad took back in the day. It came together pretty nicely after a bit of work and got a big smile from dad so I'm happy with it. Very dramatic.
Excellent work! Looks like Hoh River Timber. I remember that pulling machine. I used to work with a few guys from there & had a a set of Silveys from them. I sure miss those days, feels like yesterday!
Ol Ky hillbilly here and worked round a saw many yrs and many a night I’ve dreamed of a big mobile winch to help with the big oaks round here…was that purpose built? Old line truck was my thoughts…hope to make one more trip to the west coast before I die..
Born and grew up in PA, dad worked at ITT Rayonier. I miss seeing the trucks loaded up heading for the mills. Left for Alaska after the work dried up and the mills close. Hard to bring myself to go back anymore, just isn’t the same place.
Cut for Denny Davis on the Tacoma water shed for the great white rat back in the day we had a pulling machine there after we blew up the Jack's twice nice wood in the day !!
thats pretty cool. The track mounted Skagit at 2:35 was owned by Hopkes logging of Forks. the guys I worked for in PA bought it in early 2006 and used it until a few years ago. ive got some video of it in action on my channel. great video thanks for sharing.
They are too touchy sensative of people in general. Only work freelance cutting. Won't deal with that drama. Good for them.. .very easily sensitive people.

This makes me think of a very good friend of mine. He is gone now. But ran a logging crew roughly in that same area. Bloom brothers logging.
As soon as I stumbled on this I said I hauled a few loads off this landing. Kevin Worley. Gary Pitt. Merle Owens. Logs went to Por Tac
Cool video!! My dad was there mechanic, I remember going with him to work on some of that equipment, thanks for the video.
Really well done. Thank you for posting.
That size of wood we never gave a thought about it was just in the way for use ! We use that to slow down the big ones !@
