- When Elsie Has Trouble With Pigeons in her Atic and Suzie gose up for a look but ends up Sticking her foot threw The Ogdens Celine All Hell Breaks Loose Between Elsie and Hilda
Enjoyyyyy x
I really enjoyed this storyline back in 1978. Great days, great characters, great everything. Unlike that complete garbage that shares its name today.
Exactly. I haven't watched the show in 20 years. Thank goodness for these older episodes, and thanks to the person(s) who so kindly uploaded them.
Its hilda's cackle sounds like a witch brewing a spell 😂 this was when coronation street was good all the best characters are gone now 😢
This was brilliant when Elsie ran Hilda out of her house absolutely brilliant this is when coronation street was unmissable
Stan sounds like a Air raid warden during the second world war
"Put those flaming lights out"
😂👍
These where the days when coronation street was great. Comedy and drama fantastic times.
Loved this story,
Watched coronation Street in 20 years or so cause it went down hill imo but love these old episodes loved these characters 😂❤❤
I watched these series weekly in the 70's. I cried laughing then and I am crying laughing now.
same here just brilliant
Stopped watching Corrie in 2004...got awful.
Started watching 1970 onwards...superb, great dialogue, drama and comedy!
I stopped watching around 2004, too, or whenever it was that Steve and Becky were at it. Don't miss it, but I do miss the days when the show was actually enjoyable and well-written.
The golden age of Coronation Street! ✨
Elsie tanner wakeing up at 5 in the morning in bed in full make
I bet it wasn't the first time
That said she was an attractive woman for a life long smoker
Good complexion no wrinkles 👍
20:27 that deffo wasn't scripted. I reckon Pat Pheonix was genuinely struggling not to laugh 😂😂. So hilarious laughed so hard my tummy hurts.
Hilda’s voice sounds like scratches on a chalkboard!
Imagine 1970s Hilda vs 2000s Blanche 😂
They need characters like that now
@Fatima502 it's a pity we haven't had real battleaxes in a long time. Evelyn is sharp-tongued but generally nice, whereas Hilda and Blanche were real shrews.
@@kaysmith8992 The problem as I see it is that they have diluted the show with too many episodes a week. With two there was breathing space to build up and maintain characters like Hildas and Elsies. Now they all get burnt up, literally.
Or indeed 1960s Hilda. Did you see her classic set-to in the Street with Elsie?
@@WallyPyneoil oh yeh, I should have just said Hilda in general but was looking at this video.
Pigeons - perfect excuse to have the birds dressed for bed on the telly.
Just when I thought this clip couldn't be more perfect, they go and play Brotherhood of Man at the engagement party. On an actual record player!
They're actually played twice - 51:40 and 1:24:00 . Both times "Figaro" which was No.1 in the charts at the time!
The Halcyon days of Corrie past you are missed great characters.
Last year I had a bunch of pigeons living in the roof of my flat, when the blokes came to get rid of the birds one of the workmen lost his footing and his leg came through my bedroom ceiling. I was in bed at the time, fortunately he fell through a different area of the room or I'd have been covered in pigeon 💩 and who knows what else. 😳🤮 Got it fixed for free and compensation so can't complain too much but getting flashbacks watching this! 😂❤🐦
Also, is it me or does anyone else think that Frank Skinner could be Hilda's son? They look remarkably similar imho. Either way, hope everyone reading this is having a lovely week. All the best! ❤
Breaks my heart to see how they've turned Gail into some clown nowadays.
The exterior set featured in your thumbnail is incorrect - it didn't exist until 1982 - but, apart from that, I loved this story. A classic Corrie tale of neighbours at war!
This looks very filmic for VTR ❤🎉
You can't beat original corry. ❤
Watching 2000 episodes. Gail's hair is exactly the same 😂😂
Lord Haw Haw is a distant relative of mine on my fathers side
15:09 "No buts about it, I'm the man of the 'ouse, you put the kettle on, that's your job" - based stan
23:08 play this at 0.5x speed then 1.75 speed 😂😂😂😂😂
Gee...who'd have thought razor thin ol' Stan ate bread 'n' dripping for breakfast!
23:21 Well that didn't age well. The Midland Hotel is a dump now.
I stopped watching coronation street over twenty years ago. The dull and boring characters and the depressing storylines made it impossible to watch..
Same here. Thankfully we have older episodes to enjoy
@@johnrider5701 what's missing is these battleaxes. You don't get good battleaxes on Corrie anymore. The older women like Gail and Sally and Jenny are portrayed more like dizzy airheads now.
Who's up there?
is it les battersby?
I actually MISS percy sugden,
he didnt get much of a send off. Where's Ada?
I don’t know why that woman dyed her hair from blonde to red!
Susie was a redhead then went to blonde which really didn't suit her
Elsie flubs her lines in every episode of the early years.
i noticed that but still brilliant
Yes, she has a hard time at 43:43
Stanley has the kindest heart.
Susie stands like a model.
Gal and Susie look hot in those men's shirts.
Hilda is horrible to poor Stan.
Matriarchy there is no patriarchy on Coronation St.
Ah, the great myth of the patriarchy! Load of hateful feminist ideology, that. Janice Fiamengo studied feminism right back to its origins and it's horrifyingly bigoted, misandrist and narcissistic.
That's the North for you. Strong women.
