My heart breaks for my Kadazan culture and language. I make it my personal mission to preserve and protect it. A culture needs its community, not just a few people.
This is such an heart-touching documentary, I did not expect anyone to journalize the native kadazandusun's lifestyle and their whole importance as a whole. Great job making an awesome video, I'm Papar Kadazan and I feel tremendously grateful that there are younger generation to fix their main problem. My family is more on middle class but almost all of them had forgotten their traditions especially my parents. I shall also join in the mission, best of luck everyone
Some Dusun and Murut are not very happy with the term Kadazan Dusun Murut, their reason is from the language point of view of Kadazan, Dusun and Murut are not 100% the same, in terms of culture there are also some significant differences. But when did Kadazan Dusun Murut appear? KadazanDusunMurut was established by politicians. Why is it necessary to establish Kadazan Dusun Murut?... So that the politician's position in the state government of Sabah will remain stable that way. Is there any benefit for the Kadazan Dusun Murut ethnic group compared to if they are not united in that way?...Politicians are very creative in creating various terms for their interests, in fact the people do not benefit much from politics significantly, those who work hard will definitely progress and succeed in their lives, while those who put in a little effort will still fall behind, that is the law of nature and not the result of 100% politicians' ideas.
Minutes 5:25 Now I believe Kadazan Dusun and Malay have similarities... : : : : You can see, middle-class Malays and middle-class Kadazan Dusuns both speak English even among family members, that's a trend..... each ethnic Kadazan Dusun and middle-class Malays have put aside the language of their ancestors.....hahahahaha
FYI Kadazan only in Penampang & Papar ya...other places covered by Dusun tribes (please check the wikipedia for the list of dusun) most of the Dusun still speak or at least know & understood their own mother tongue languages & still expose to their own cultures...this video was only represent for Kadazan and not for Dusun tribe. If you said Dusun not speak their own languages anymore then you better search the Sabahan in Penang in the social media...they are toddlers who speak Dusun eventhough they were not in Sabah...
Just a lightweight documentary... and misleading: this video is just about the Tangara-speaking peoples (Penampang plains to Kawang). The title is already problematic. Kadazandusun? "Dusun" with a small "d?" Is that really a name? I remember that lump name was just coined in the 1980s during the PBS regime. And the statement, "The indigenous people of North Borneo called themselves Kadazandusuns." Really? Professor Dr. Jacqueline Pugh-Kitingan (she appears as an interviewee in the video) should have corrected the statement (and a few others).

Kadazan, Dusun & Murut is not the same race, ethnic and culture.
When our local language disappear our race disappear too.
