ShaunMaurice Washington lol 😂 I remember it too, watching the highlights on ESPN and seeing John Tyler run it back for a TD. Ohh man do I miss Texas high school football. I felt bad for those kids, but hey it is what it is
TaurusReborn Look up the 2014 Bahamas Bowl. Central Michigan was down 49-14 entering the 4th quarter and reeled off 34 unanswered. Then they lost because they went for 2 on a fade route to their 4th best receiver.
They had to kick deep because they were ahead by 3. A squib kick means the other team gets the ball at their 35 or 40 and can get into field goal range with a couple plays. If they were up by 4+ and a touchdown was needed to beat them, then a squib kick would be the better option.
We lost by one point last week after an undefeated season. Our QB broke his leg and played on it for most of the game, but in the end we go down by a point with 1:50 left. Worst feeling in the world.
The announcers' tears of unfathomable sadness. yummy and sweet you guys. I would love to hear the Tyler side of this experience. Going up 41-17 with 5 minutes to go thinking you had it sewed up. Watching Plano East storm back in the most improbable manner. Thinking the game is lost until Dunn breaks that return.
You guys may not have won, but you damn well played your heart out. That last kickoff may have been devastating but y'all get to say you scored three touchdowns in under 3 minutes in the Cowboys stadium, that's definitely something
Great game and great effort, but seriously... WHY kick it deep to their fastest player with 00:24 left on the clock?? That is just not a good coaching decision. Also, "I think I just wet ma britches" is so Texas. haha
I don't even know these teams or even care about them but now I just feel depressed and sad I want to go to that high school and win them a championship
Although many consider this game to be the greatest HS game of all time, there are many historians that argue the greatest was actually the 1966 city championship game between Polk High School and Andrew Johnson High School. It was in this game that a young Al Bundy scored four touchdowns, including the game-winning touchdown in the final seconds against his old nemesis, Bubba "Spare Tire" Dixon.
Watched that game in person and man you could feel the heart and soul of Plano East just get sucked right out the building. Best football game ever played? Damn right it was!
Plano East had a great season that included beating their crosstown rival, the Plano Wildcats 28-7. The Wildcats eventually won the 1994 Division I State Championship over Katy Tigers 28-7. There were some good football players in Plano that year. Not to rain on John Tyler's parade either. Rumor has it that Tyler had so much speed and size on that team, Jerry Jones was seen on the sidelines recruiting.
losing a close game is worse than losing a blowout. in a blowout you know you are going to lose. A close game plays with your emotions a lot more and you remember one play over the whole game example seahawks vs broncos Superbowl and seahawks vs patriots Superbowl.
I go to East. Watching this really does make me feel sick. This was our one chance to make it to the finals. we have not been anywhere near as close. All I do is hope we can make it back there one day.
I remember when this happened they played the highlights on Sportscenter. I was In my last year of HS. I remember being so happy for Plano East and then utterly devastated for them as the last kick was run back for a TD.
This is crazy.. It truly does define playing until the final whistle. For both sides.. Love an underdog story, and it's unfortunate this one didn't finish the way I had hoped. Thanks for sharing the story, amazing!
I played JV football and with 1 minute left we were down 37-20 we scored twice in a row with two onsides. We try a third onside and our kicker messes up and only kicks the ball 2 yards 😨
I remember being a 35-year-old man employed part-time by the dollar general. My 38-year-old unemployed friend challenged me to a game of hopscotch at his home. who was unemployed. We both still lived with our parents at this time. I was down 8-3, but then came back to take a 9-8 lead, but then he threw the rock in the 9 & 10 space on the hopscotch board & won 10-8. I cried, his mother told me to leave, then she called my mother & said she didn’t want me playing with her son anymore. This video reminds me of that day.
Ezio Auditore yeah it is. when you're losing by a lot of points and you comeback in the fourth quarter, you think you're gonna win but, they returned it on a kickoff sealing the deal.
This reminds me so much of the game I played in this year. We were down 42-6 by half time with almost no hope, but by the 4th quarter we scored 30 unanswered points. Sadly like this team we also blew it near the end and the score became 49-36
I was at this game for Plano East. The description of this game is wrong. This was Regionals. The quarterfinals were the next round. In 1994 Class 5A Division 2 had 6 playoffs. They were Bi-district, Area, Regionals, Quarterfinals, Semifinals and Final (state championship). Lake Highlands was the other Division 2 representative from the district Plano East competed in. Their head coach at the time, Mike Zoffuto, was the 3rd guy calling the game with the other two announcers. The other playoff representative from the district Plano East was in was Plano. Plano played in the 5A Division 1 bracket. They had 5 playoff games to win their state championship. Their was no Area round in Division 1. Plano won the Division 1 state championship. I grew up watching Plano and then Plano East came along and have always been of fan of them too. For pure Plano East fans it hurt to see Plano finish 3rd in district yet go on to win their 7th state championship and beat Katy 28-7. Fun times back then. Totally different now as those guys today aren't winner like the guys in the past. And the next town north, Allen, has been winning so much. The Plano East QB Jeff had a broken hand in this game. You can see his cast.
I played for Coach Phillips in my home town of Groveton, Texas. He proved himsel a leader with me as I played for him and all the bother Indiana that he lead.
I was at that game and I didn't like JT because they were cocky as hell and they were awesome. When Plano went up 44-41 you could hear crickets on JT side and Plano side was going nuts. Still to this day never been to a high school game that was as loud as this one. Much respect to both teams.
My middle school team blew a 25 point lead. Over the time of the game we had the lead and it came down to the last minute. The other team managed to score a touchdown, recover an onside and score another one. They went for two and got it every time. We managed to get another a touchdown and there was like 15 seconds left, we had the lead. We kick an onside as we weren't taking any risks with a deep because earlier in the game they had scored on a deep. The other team had 11 seconds left, they throw an incompletion. With 7 seconds left they manage to throw a Hail Mary and we miss a tackle. The game is tied but time expired. They kick the extra point and win 53-52.
30 years but remember like yesterday. Was there and didn't leave. Have seen the footage so much I can quote it. Trade messages with one of the announcers every year.
Trust me that feeling is like you just got stabbed in the stomach when you see them getting touchdowns I played football and we were the underdogs making it from a 5-3 season and making it to the championship we all cried atleast the half of us that actually did something to get there when we lost from a 22-21 game
Kicking it deep wasn't a bad call, not kicking it deep enough was. They should've kicked it out the back of the endzone. Would seem better to leave them the extra 5 seconds to play with rather than a return attempt when you're up 3pts with under 30sec. Brutal
I went to jr high and 9th grade with many of these Plano guys. I remember hearing about the game 100 miles away, at my new place. That game made me sick. I still cant watch it.
There are no words for how tough a loss that is. If high school football is supposed to be about building character those guys got a lesson they will literally take to their graves.
I remember playing Lewisville back in 1993 in the playoffs. They were as good as we were but they got the win in the end. They ran the exact same wishbone offense as us and wore the same school colors too. That whole dynamic thing was very unique.
I was lucky enough to have been there. My school (Lake Highlands) played the winner of this game the next week. Plano east was also in our district so LH had a very high interest in that game. To this day I can still hear the crowd erupt so loud when East scored to go ahead. I couldn’t believe wtf I just watched then it all came crashing down. Fun Fact: there were 2 guys calling the play by play on the radio and they had a broadcast guest that said “I think I’m going to be sick”. That was the head coach for Lake highlands Coach Z
Cosmic Kicks I think in that situation how the receiving team was lined up, they could've done a line drive that would've hopped a few times to the guy in the back or a high short kick that would've given them time to be set in position without giving up major yardage or a TD
Same thing happened to my team. We came back and scored and took the lead back with about 30 seconds to go. Kick it off and tackle him. Then they do a hitch and pitch for 50 yards and win it at 17 seconds
Holy shit.. those kids went on most extreme emotional rollercoaster in the history of sports.
Until the Cavs fans in the 2016 Finals.
Or OJ an that fateful night…
It actually hurt to watch that last play
omg, im so sad, i feel you man
my head hurts and its so sad just to see this
HRRYCRRYIMPOSTER I had goosebumps after they made the comeback but then got so depressed
HRRYCRRYIMPOSTER I could tell it was coming
HRRYCRRYIMPOSTER I started crying
"I done wet my britches"
Lol I laughed when I heard that
Those guys are too Texas even for Texas.
Austin Pyeatt funniest commentator moment I've seen yet that was hilarious!!
BINGO BONGO BANGO
If that was my team, i'd still be getting nightmares...
+Dannet Ferret When did you play / what position? :p
+Dannet Ferret sick, you guys won against Tyler this year right?
My mom was on the sideline lmao
I remember seeing this on ESPN in 94' and I still feel bad for them.
ShaunMaurice Washington lol 😂 I remember it too, watching the highlights on ESPN and seeing John Tyler run it back for a TD. Ohh man do I miss Texas high school football. I felt bad for those kids, but hey it is what it is
lol when I saw the highlights I thought it was the cowboys and the saints
AyjAy 011 Good for you
same
AyjAy 011 yea and I'm a cowboy fan too, lowkey pissed me off
AyjAy 011 yep
AyjAy 011 me to
If you think about it, this game did technically end in a spectacular, last-minute comeback
However, as a high school football player myself, I would be incredibly pissed if that happened against my team
is last minute double-comeback a thing. I'm pretty sure it is. Best HS football game ever.... likely
This some madden shit.
Tru asf lmaooo EA would do some shit like that
Are you from Texas?
+Cjchon49 Yea, why?
lol
😂😂
Shit. down 41-17 in the 4th quarter? snap
wins 45-41
TaurusReborn 🌚🌚🌚
TaurusReborn Look up the 2014 Bahamas Bowl. Central Michigan was down 49-14 entering the 4th quarter and reeled off 34 unanswered. Then they lost because they went for 2 on a fade route to their 4th best receiver.
Mr. Pool damn
With like 4 minutes
Moral of the story: Squib kick.
Agreed.. thats exactly what should of happened
***** 3:10 are you sure?
Lol right we lost a game in 3 round of playoff back in 93..cause we kicked deep ....lost by 1 dam point ....
They had to kick deep because they were ahead by 3. A squib kick means the other team gets the ball at their 35 or 40 and can get into field goal range with a couple plays. If they were up by 4+ and a touchdown was needed to beat them, then a squib kick would be the better option.
Amen
It just wasn't met to be. I can't even imagine how that team felt on the bus ride home. The sports gods can be so cruel sometimes.
Sports gods?
Sir Bolanio his religious shit i guess..
Consoleitor2000 Sir Bolanio You laugh now, but when your favorite team loses in the playoffs you'll wish that you never spoke of such blasphemy.
DJCHAZY1 Fav team?I dont even watch (overpayed) sports
We lost by one point last week after an undefeated season. Our QB broke his leg and played on it for most of the game, but in the end we go down by a point with 1:50 left. Worst feeling in the world.

Great video...
Can hear the anguish in the announcers voices during that final kick return.
You guys may not have won, but you damn well played your heart out. That last kickoff may have been devastating but y'all get to say you scored three touchdowns in under 3 minutes in the Cowboys stadium, that's definitely something

"Of all time... *OF ALL TIME"*
This guy was Kanye before Kanye was Kanye
Lmao I finally understand the title
Same
Me too man mee too
The announcers are hilarious.
I cant believe that... At least they made it a game
This almost seems like something from madden. That was sad for them though.
+Coret440 Gaming you'd be lucky to get one onside kick in madden
+Coret440 Gaming Feel so bad, I mean not just a hard loss. But the playoffs!

Shouldn't there have been like 10-12 seconds left on the clock?
Obviously they didn't score after getting the ensuing kick off
I cried at the ending. Imagine being down 41-17, making 3 successful onside kicks, taking the lead and then lose because of a kickoff return.
Same thing make you smile, can also make you cry
you're playing in a cowboys stadium what did you expect
stfu
AYYYYYY LMFAO

3 years later Katy beat Longview and never looked back
well at least they didn't get raped like we did in jr high. like 57-0 with our "A" team
L

I go to East. Watching this really does make me feel sick. This was our one chance to make it to the finals. we have not been anywhere near as close. All I do is hope we can make it back there one day.
Bruh, I just found this video, JT is my school biggest rival, Robert E Lee or Legacy high school
I remember my dad telling me about this he told me "it was craziest game he ever saw" and I now know why

I remember when this happened they played the highlights on Sportscenter. I was In my last year of HS. I remember being so happy for Plano East and then utterly devastated for them as the last kick was run back for a TD.
Damn that fucking sucks

What a great piece , WOW

Dr0pkidd same the scene on the bus would be legendary
With moments of the actual game being on screen
Frr
Captain Flippers that’s literally about another football team, But I do see what you mean tho
This is crazy.. It truly does define playing until the final whistle. For both sides.. Love an underdog story, and it's unfortunate this one didn't finish the way I had hoped. Thanks for sharing the story, amazing!

I detect a bit of sarcasm there
2 onsides in a row.... don't blame your kicker
Andrey Smith He was nervous

That's more upsetting then the 18-1 patriots
NO IT IS NOT
One of the Greatest NFL games ever right there, and one of the happiest days of my life 😂😂
+Ezio Auditore patriots fan much
Ezio Auditore yeah it is. when you're losing by a lot of points and you comeback in the fourth quarter, you think you're gonna win but, they returned it on a kickoff sealing the deal.
Ikr, should've been 0-16 imo, 07 Pats worst, but luckiest team of all time.

That last play sent chills down my spine.
The last one hurt me bad. I almost cried, this is some real football comeback play I ever seen.
I'm not even a football fan and even I realized how much of a big deal this was. Damn. Kids played good though.
I played for Coach Phillips in my home town of Groveton, Texas. He proved himsel a leader with me as I played for him and all the bother Indiana that he lead.

Listened to the game on the radio while driving back to Dallas.
If it isn't the greatest game ever played it was certainly the most exciting.
This reminds me of deasan Jacksons's run against the giants
Still get goosebumps every time I see this video and every time I see the plaque at Plano east I stop and stare
that may be possibly most depressing thing I have seen all life. ever.
Wow... What a heartbreaking loss!
I would never play football again if I played on that team
Ken Deazy | Hydro if you wouldn't play a sport after a loss, then you weren't meant to play.
Ken Deazy | Hydro sore loser
Truly one of the games where you wish both teams could have won. 2 great teams that both fought hard
Just watched my old team come back from a 26-44 with 2:38 in the fourth... They won the game 48-44, crazy how it was the same score as this game
My middle school team blew a 25 point lead. Over the time of the game we had the lead and it came down to the last minute. That so crazy it almost seems fake
i graduated from high school in plano east in 2015. this story is a legend
i go to this school and this makes me want to cry
30 years but remember like yesterday. Was there and didn't leave. Have seen the footage so much I can quote it. Trade messages with one of the announcers every year.
Shane Gillis sent me
would've loved for them to interview a couple guys from John Tyler also
I could not imagine that feeling...
go chiefs!
If only we could've sealed the game against the Colts
Wonderful job by the crew behind this video!
“Somebody give me something i’m gonna die” love these announcers
This is great commentary Sound blends in perfectly with the commentary
Kicking it deep was a mistake. I would've taken my chances with the better field position rather than giving a clearly faster player the ball deep.
Everyone's a genius with hindsight
grayd98 didn't they even say "they were faster than us." ???? would've never kicked it deep.
They said that after the fact. Who knows if they believed it at the time.
I remember watching this as a kid. Nothing better than Texas high school football.
💖
Shane Gillis sent me here
Trust me that feeling is like you just got stabbed in the stomach when you see them getting touchdowns I played football and we were the underdogs making it from a 5-3 season and making it to the championship we all cried atleast the half of us that actually did something to get there when we lost from a 22-21 game
Only if they onsided it
you know this is best example of never let guard down on both sides. Though this is unbelievable all that effort it will break your heart.
I guess this is just... life. Shit happens and sometimes it sucks. GG on both teams.
You just want onto a video about a hs football game and made a cod comment.
God I love Texas high school football. I'm glad I was part of it a long time ago.
Greatest comeback ever in a Super Bowl 51#patsnation
Kicking it deep wasn't a bad call, not kicking it deep enough was. They should've kicked it out the back of the endzone. Would seem better to leave them the extra 5 seconds to play with rather than a return attempt when you're up 3pts with under 30sec. Brutal
They are high school players man lol not many kids at that level can boom it into the end zone it isn't the NFL smh.
im fucking mad
wow, awesome video. i felt so bad when the other team won at the end. but yeah as someone else said that guy on the other team is a hero
Eagles vs Giants 2009?
This gave me chills man
This made me got Wtf to crying
Same
I've seen this 6times and everytime it amazing me
gave me chills
I'm fucking crying.
.
You're not mad.
CrunchyDogFood CDF Using sarcasm now? What exactly are you trying to prove?
CrunchyDogFood CDF
ZoomerX24 you do realise he is trolling you right?
That was amazing!Neither team can say anything bad about the other. Not a game but a battle! REAL FOOTBALL AT ITS BEST!
Legend has it, their girlfriends are still sore to this very day LOL
I went to jr high and 9th grade with many of these Plano guys. I remember hearing about the game 100 miles away, at my new place. That game made me sick. I still cant watch it.
Why not a squib?
Not in the playbook I guess.
Noah Bzoskie They would have gotten it around the 40 and would have had a better chance to come back.
+Tyler Jacobsebsen must not watch football. Ball would bounce around a lot and by the time they get it, you can tackle them
There are no words for how tough a loss that is. If high school football is supposed to be about building character those guys got a lesson they will literally take to their graves.
I think the guy in the last touchdown dropped the football before the endzone.
Harrison Lee
Same
Harrison Lee Holy Shit, he totally did
He did! They really truly won
Harrison Lee He still had it, you can see it at 6:19 in his left hand and he drops it in the endzone.
Moof 225
Those dudes played their hearts out. True champions
Lewisville vs Plano east last season was better. Lewisville scored 31 points in the fourth quarter to win 58-56
I remember playing Lewisville back in 1993 in the playoffs. They were as good as we were but they got the win in the end. They ran the exact same wishbone offense as us and wore the same school colors too. That whole dynamic thing was very unique.
The commentary is gold
Lol kick returner was like all hail no

Valiant effort🥂🏈
Friday Night Lights season 3
I was lucky enough to have been there. My school (Lake Highlands) played the winner of this game the next week. Plano east was also in our district so LH had a very high interest in that game. To this day I can still hear the crowd erupt so loud when East scored to go ahead. I couldn’t believe wtf I just watched then it all came crashing down.
Fun Fact: there were 2 guys calling the play by play on the radio and they had a broadcast guest that said “I think I’m going to be sick”. That was the head coach for Lake highlands Coach Z
But still I understand they kicked it deep but if they were gonna kick it deep they should've spreaded out instead of huddling next to each other
Cosmic Kicks I think in that situation how the receiving team was lined up, they could've done a line drive that would've hopped a few times to the guy in the back or a high short kick that would've given them time to be set in position without giving up major yardage or a TD
Same thing happened to my team. We came back and scored and took the lead back with about 30 seconds to go. Kick it off and tackle him. Then they do a hitch and pitch for 50 yards and win it at 17 seconds
