Zamora is a main area of Michoacan besides Patzcuaro were a lot of Beatriz de Castilleja's lineage settled. Beatriz was the great granddaughter of Tangaxuan II the last ruler of Michoacan before he was murdered by Nuno de Guzman. Her line is considered the legitimate heirs of the royal family.
I have a fond memory of visiting that city where my cousins lived. I was 11 and we went to eat at a restaurant and I ordered a virgin piña colada. Well I got that and took a big gulp and it buzzed all through my body. Definitely had alcohol. I let my aunt taste it and she was like oh shit they probably got the order wrong and was like… do you like it though? We can tell them. I said no I love it and was feeling really good. She was like Ok ! Keep it then! 😂
