  • In this video I go over the The rust that I found in my 1972 Corvette in the journey I’m taking to make repairs. You’ll see the damage up close and how I’m going to go about repairing. Hope you can follow along and enjoy.

I can appreciate what you're going through, having went through this pain with my '71. The learning curve, fiberglass dust... but it all came together and now I drive it often. I used salvage frame sections from a junkyard '77 with no rust, worked out well.

Thanks Mike, fingers crossed it holds together. I hope to beat on it pretty hard. Thanks for watching

I am overwhelmed just looking at the tasks facing breathing life back into this car. You are a better man than me Ganja Din.

Corvette central sells weld on replacement birdcage repair sections. From the rockers up to the windshield frame.

Thanks for the information. I may buy a 1976 Stingray from a friend. He bought the car in 1989. My big concern is birdcage rust. (Wisconsin car) He never drove it in winter and he is a mechanic/body shop owner. I still will have an impartial 3rd party Corvette specialist look over it before I would buy it.

Keep up the good work champ, it'll all be worth it when the job is complete. I have two C3 which l imported from the States to Australia, a 75 manual 4 speed and a 77 Automatic. The 75 has some rust on the door pillar and windscreen frame. I have not attempted any work on it yet, so watching your project encourages me to do so.

Thanks Michael. I’m sure you can tackle it. I had little to no knowledge when I started. That’s the purpose of me documenting this whole thing. Hope it help! Not everyone can afford to hire someone to build them a car. We just have to forgive it out🤷

Good luck, I’ve had many of these cars and to tell you the truth I’ve never looked these areas over that close! But I will after seeing this! These cars are very old now!,

You may already know this but there’s a guy that has a channel on TH-cam that does a lot of this with c2’s called Midyear Mitch that does all kinds of birdcage repairs, actually he builds them from scratch, if you haven’t seen his stuff you may check him out for pointers.
