The more I listen to Mariah’s overall body of work, it becomes ever more apparent of just how delicate her singing voice actually is and always has been since the start of her career.
It’s common knowledge that she’s had nodules since a young age and that her voice is quite easily affected by her environment but I’m thinking that the vocal skill she’s known for is only partially due to innate talent and more so the result of a relentless drive to develop and maintain a certain personal standard beginning as far back as pre-adolescence. Which is honestly much more impressive to me than simply being naturally gifted. If anything I think her true talent lies less in her natural vocals themselves, rather than an advanced sense of pitch and rhythm combined with the mental aptitude to envision, memorize and recite a ridiculous number of complex vocal scores with near perfect accuracy, every time and apparently for all eternity.
Mariah is the sort of singer that seems to take pleasure in hearing her voice pushed to its extremes and purposely creates music designed to challenge herself and test her own limits over and over again.

I much prefer the early 90s "natural" looking Mariah. She had the most gorgeous gospel type voice and you can't beat the curly brown locks. She looks so white here! She is mixed race but she has the look in her eyes and nose and lips. Stunning :)

She was so naturally beautiful that it's a shame she straightened and bleached her beautiful hair, plucked those luscious eyebrows pencil thin, got a boob job (too big for her body imo), and damaged that beautiful hair.
