    The camera view is fine for me as I view on a phone . Imo you choose the right angle for the right occasion . Thanks for adventuring so I don't have to although I would rellesh the opportunity.

    Coal mining history is a big interest of mine since I was young. I live in PA in the U.S. in the anthracite coal area. I would always be looking for portals. I thank you for taking me along for the explore.

      Thanks :) We do have coal mines in the area, yet to explore them though. I used to try to find stuff as a young teenager, luckily I never found as had no idea about the risks.

    I prefer the view angle of this video .. wider angles tend to be slightly disorienting for me .. especially when watching on my phone.
    Nice explore! Thanks for sharing 🇨🇦

      Yes, nasty stuff, found out later another group turned back at that point. Gonna go back and fix some day.

    Lovely area, nowhere on earth like those moors! You can also tell if it has been raining heavily in the last week or so because the streams turn orange from the run-off! Some of the farmers complain abut their seep drinking it and then some go swimming and turn out orange as well!!!
    I think your depth of field and width of frame is pretty much ideal. You can see enough and it is all sharp.
    Weird thought that some of the lead out of that last mine paid to fight the Armada... Some that came out before went onto the roof of Byland and Rievaulx abbeys as well since before the Suppression of The Monasteries most of the leadmining rights in the north country were owned by the Cistercians. That was one of the reasons Henry was so anxious to get his paws on their property and sell it off to his pals. Lead to gold.
    Another funny thing--when a bit of York minster burnt down in 1984 and it was rebuilt they used a huge pig of lead that was found in the grounds of Rievaulx Abbey to replace the lead on the roof. That could have come out of this very hole!!!
    You can always tell if a mine is an old one because it will use an outcropping of stable rock like that waterfall as a face to drive its adit through. I just wish I knew more Geology!!! Was that a small Fault that the water was coming over?

      Thanks very much for the feedback. Yes, couldn't safely get anywhere near these 2 x mines when it's been raining, bogs everywhere. I actually fell in one upto my groin last year on that area, took me a while before I'd go off any tracks again.

    So beautiful! I really love the bright blue and the light pastel colors. Any idea what causes them?

    • @UKAbandonedMineExplores
      @UKAbandonedMineExplores  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes a very pretty little mine. The blued are more black in real life. I believe its a mineral associated with the presence of Zinc, don't quote me though. More prettiness coming next week with a long video including maypoles :)

    please do not put the wider angle on when you have a walking dipper in front of you. I had to get some some emergancy wadders once and got some like that also , they did last 20 mins.

      Lolol, hi Ritchie. Yes they've been repaired once already, he will grow out if them ;)

    A walking stick to probe the depth? I would not want to swim in sulfides.

    • @UKAbandonedMineExplores
      @UKAbandonedMineExplores  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tis a trial, no sumps, all researched before going. We did take a stick to find a flooded sump once, the stick found the lack of floor, which unfortunately caused the guy to loose his balance and fall into it.

  • @kevinbrennan2004
    @kevinbrennan2004 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Do you ever worry about false floors, when you're wading through the wet stuff?

    • @UKAbandonedMineExplores
      @UKAbandonedMineExplores  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, but we also do a lot of research before each explore and know that this one is a trial, not usually sumps in those, and only know of one sump in a horse level and we had no sign of workings.

    This is crazy to think about... 16th century lead miner? I'll pass. Super cool video though! You guys would love the American southwest... tunnels for miles

    • @UKAbandonedMineExplores
      @UKAbandonedMineExplores  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It goes back to the 1300s I believe :) Wouldn't mind as long as they are wet tunnels, much prettier :)

      @@UKAbandonedMineExplores each have their own mystique.... the great thing about the US is you have a little bit of everything. From desert to mountains to rolling hills.
      Is it true that a lot of the mines were owned by the old aristocracy? Or would they have been started and owned by average citizens or middle class? I've always wondered about that... in the old west anyone could pretty much lay a claim and make their fortune if they had the gumption, but that was much more recent history
