i absolutely fell in love with it when i first played the demo of it. and eventually bought the game (i lost the disc somewhere) i only wish GOG had it, i'd buy it in a heartbeat.
Oh i was looking for this for ages! When i was a kid i used to play the demo of this game from a CD that came with a magazine i bought. I didn't speak english back then and couldn't understand the game completely, going to try to find it now and give peace to my inner child wishes
This game looks crazy far ahead of it's time.. it reminds me of all the creative games we have now. Kind of annoyed I never saw this in 1998 I would have played the heck out of it!
This game was ahead of its time and really needs a modern remake! The game design is really well-done. The campaign was meh, often you were given too little resources, i've finished it, but had to cheese my way and often use save-load.
I love when i see modern triple AAA developments doing whatever and saying o looks so great and i see old games doing so imaginary things and really creative stuff, and never again doing anything similar
I've thought about remaking it on dotbigbang platform, whose game engine works on web browsers. To make a MOBA style floating island combat game. It would fit right in.
I found this game in a thrift store when I was very young. I never could get it to run well on the family PC but I loved the concept. I wish I still had the disc.
Stratosphere, Rocket Jockey and Battlezone 1&2 game me so much joy back in the days. Sadly those games have been forgotten and are a bitch to get them running on modern hardware...
So the game works fine in W7 for me (I have the original/physical retail release), it installs and plays just fine (better in Primary 3D mode), but it has this weird bug where the Windows mouse cursor disappears after you exit the game. You have to go to Control Panel -> Devices -> Mouse -> Pointer and then restore it to default to fix it (which isn't too easy without being able to see the cursor). It's annoying as hell. I'm hoping there's some way to permanently fix this, I used to love this game. I can't find any patches for it anywhere though.
Yeah, I faced with all the same problems. The game itself has only one patch to fix a campaign mission. Perhaps you'd be willing to send your CD to GOG.com? I've heard this helps them add old games on their store.
I actually did manage to track down the patch for level 23 just now - that's all it fixes though, and the cursor issue is still there. Regarding GOG, that's not really how it works. Licensing is almost always the biggest issue - they have to figure out who owns the license first, as it's often the case that the games are made by now-defunct developers, and those developers will often lose the license (if they ever had it to begin with) as part of a closure, to insurance companies or some other third party. So first they have to figure out who owns it, basically, and then find out if that party is willing to grant sales rights to GOG, which they may or may not do. I'm a huge GOG fan, and I'd love to see Stratosphere there (I voted for it in the community wishlist), but obtaining a physical copy is most definitely not the primary hurdle to that end - especially considering you can get a copy of it on Amazon or Ebay for like $5 (if it's disc-only).
It seems that the publishing rights either belong to Panasonic Corporation or no one as Panasonic dismantled their game publishing arm. So in my view it is abandonware. There is no way of getting a 'digital' copy, so make a vote on GOG. Second hand CDs are available on Amazon and Ebay. This takes me back as well. I worked on the game and loved seeing a video of it. I am glad a few other people enjoyed it as well.
Yeah I got a copy that was only a few years old and it was a great idea. Way before things like robocraft, terratech and crossout.
An updated version of this would sell like hot cakes in 2018 especially advertised as an online battle royale.
This seems WAY ahead for it's time holy crap! Nice job.

@@ToreDL87 I'd rather see it on GOG.
Finally I've uncovered what this game is.. I remember having greatly enjoyed its demo version as a kid.. Time to finally play it. :)
At once my lord
I played the heck out of this demo when I was kid. A remake with full 3d movement would be amazing.

Upvote it on GoG, so we might get it playable on modern PCs!
I have fond memories of playing this as a child and having absolutely no idea what I was doing.

Man, been looking for this forever!
I am absolutely in love with this idea, and I'm tempted to work on a modern yet simplistic version of it in Unity.
So was I. Perhaps making it on the dotbigbang platform as a MOBA, where anyone from an internet browser could join.

Very interesting idea!! And soundtrack! )) Thanks!

This game was so fun. Nothing similar was made ever since. Even today, i still want moa.
Airborne Kingdom
This one is right at the top of my "games I'd love to see remastered" list, together with Flying Heroes
Hell yes.
one of my old-time favorites
"ENEMY IN RANGE!"
"GAMMA FORTRESS DETECTED!"

Best footage of the game on youtube.
oh ya this brings me back
I love this game
Oh the memories :3

Zomb's Lair seems to have Rocket Jockey too, besides Stratosphere.
Battlezones are remastered. Wish they had VR support.
thanks for this video :-) good game
24 years me and my brother have been trying to find this game again
Look for: Zomb's Lair Stratosphere
@@Pendrokar i well give it a look!
Ahh, fun game : ) Would be cool to open source it at some point^^

Where can I get this game in 2016?

Huh... there is a "Cow Launcher" with cow sounds within the game. Must be a Diablo 2 Easter egg...
