Steve tearing it up. R.I.P Love the picture from the rare Japanese album (the name escapes me right now) showing a young Grossman with 70’s hair . What a great player who never really got his due except among the cognoscenti.
Spectacular in every conceivable way! Steve's carrying the whole thing, and it couldn't be any other way.....at this time in his playing he had a total command of himself and the festivities!
The picture is some other Steve Grossman who was a folk singer cerca 1970's. Do you know the drummer. Excellent. The soloing at the end of the tune is spectacular. One wonders what he could have achieved if he had been free of his demons.
I will add them - from the other commenter from Japan: Jazz Club Someday (May 27-31, 1987) Makoto Terashita (p), Yoshio Suzuki (b), Masahiro Yoshida (ds).
I wish Michael Breckel and him could have played together on stage. That would have been an interesting concert watching those two beats.
I always knew how blessed I was to study with, play with & know him. STEVE is ALWAYS with me

サンキュー・arcjonesユーチューブ。コルトレーン節は大好きです。が、グロスマン節もいいな~!
特にフラジオの力強さと美しさは、tsのグロスマン、ssのリーブマンが双璧だと思います。
Luv' Grossman!
Awesome photo!!!
Yezzum!!!
