  • Welcome back to another cardistry theory video where we (Dom Corrado, Max Galarce and Conor O’Kane) discuss all things cardistry. We'll be sharing what we've learned over our last 12+ years of experience through tips & tricks, mindsets & strategies, tutorials, overviews, theories, and much more. Our goal is to provide cardists with helpful insights no matter their skill level, so our educational content varies from beginner to advanced. Outside of that, we have performance videos, meetup videos, and all sorts of entertaining and eye catching card shuffling content.
In this episode, Dom shares his learnings and overall approach to style in cardistry. There are so many ways a cardist can explore new styles & develop their own, and we felt it's an important topic to touch on.

great vid! this vid gave me a new perspective on viewing other cardist style instead of just "this is a packet cut guy" "he does fan and aerials".this way is easier to catagorize more unique and niche styles.
ps:i also think performance style can be really well seen in classic move like mocking bird or pandora

Great video with great ideas! One thing I like to think about is that Noel Heath uses a lotta single cards. I can think of a few examples where he doesn't, but i would say 90-95% of his most iconic moves use single cards in one way or another.

Much appreciated! And that's a solid take on Noel's style - he's a master at finding ways to utilize single cards.

I've been learning cardistry for almost 4 months. I don't go the normal way of learning all the basics first, but I look for tricks that I like and then learn them. Mostly it's two handed cuts with 3 to 4 packages. For example Flapfold, Quartile or Tumblr Cut.
Developing my own moves is one thing I don't need to think about yet. But learning foreign moves is also a lot of fun.
My biggest problem is actually that the packages don't want to stay together. They just keep fanning out and not staying together. I hope that will come with time. Also, I have a problem with separating pagages at exactly the thickness I want. They are often simply too thick or too thin - but rarely the way I want them.
Especially when I take a new deck because the old one is too used, nothing works anymore. This is very frustrating.
I'll keep practicing... and I'm curious to see how long it will be before I can demonstrate something to others without worrying that everything will go wrong...

Learning from other people is a great way to start. As for keeping packets together, using a slightly older/broken in deck can help. I hear you though, I had the same difficulties for a while. Keep it up and you'll get some moves down in no time!
