  • Our first Guided Upland Hunt... I take the wife and buddy our first upland hunt out at Oak Hill Preserve in Snow Hill, NC. We connect the dots on bridging clay target disciplines like sporting clays, FITASC, trap, and skeet with wingshooting. Thanks to Fiocchi we had the pleasure of shooting some of the best ammo available to make sure we got the most out of every shot. Fiocchi's new high-end, non-toxic Golden Pheasant Bismuth kept the dogs on retrieve all day long. Join us as we share in comradery and the outdoors. If you're in the area and looking for an easy place to hunt, give Dickie at Oak Hill Preserve a call and get started in something new.

It's interesting to hear the perspective from people who began shooting clays and haven't hunted birds. I grew up never shooting clay targets until later, however I had hunted birds from the time I was a kid. The flushing type shots feel very normal/comfortable to me whereas the long crossing shots are the ones that typically give me trouble. I've also shot from a low gun since I started shooting clays, I even shoot skeet and trap from a low gun . Back when I first started a low gun was required in sporting clays.
Great video, I enjoy your work

Thank you! That's definitely a great way to start off. Being able to shoot low gun I'd an absolute must. Now a days with target setters, the ability to shoot both premounted and low gun is a must. Timing of some true pairs but begs to start premounted. While not meaning the targets cant be taken low gun, every advantage to increase the score card by 1 helps. There are certainly situations where arguments can be made against it as well. Really enjoyed the hunt and look forward to getting an opportunity to participate more than film 😄 🤣

I really noticed the benefits from shooting Sporting Clays when shooting doves. In my opinion shooting Sporting Clays makes you a better wing shooter.

That's great. I can definitely see the benefits, very interested in seeing if the opposite is true and if wingshooting can make you a better sporting clays shooter. Maybe more for windy days where the targets are all over the place.

@@claylabusa the love of wing shooting and of shotguns from the time I was a little bit was a natural transition to the clay sports, once sporting clays came to my area or I should say that I had sporting clays courses that weren't that far of a drive that was it for me. ,if I'm not hunting, I'm on the sporting clays course in some capacity .
