      You could try it. I never had any success with any egr cleaner on this type of egr. It's normally the electronics that goes wrong but it's a mix bag of problems with this egr, blocked, stuck open, the gears go, the motor/electronics etc etc.
      If you have any questions just ask.
      You can pull the motor off In 10 min and try test it / move the gears etc

    Man, thats a hell of a job. I just recently had the coil light come on along with the engine management light, took the car to a garage for a diagnostic scan and came back with 40 grams build up (I think in the dpf). Didn't have time to get it fixed so ended up getter the car back then the dpf light came on. Took the car for a drive and done an actve regeneration (driving in 4th gear at 3000 rpm) and the dpf light, coil light and engine management light went off. Got back home from the drive and the coil light came back on. Took the car bacl to the garage for another scan and came up with error code P246E00 (egr temperature sensor) but the emission build up was down at 7 grams when before it waa at 40 grams. I don't know if its the dpf thats causing problems or the egr temperature sensor, it's doing my head in and its stressing me out.

    • @murphyslaw2020
      @murphyslaw2020  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      If you have any codes try fix that first
      The coil light is the engine light not sure why they have two lights . The egr temp sensor is easy to find out if its gone. That's probably all your problem is.

      @@murphyslaw2020 Hey, thanks for getting back to me, I appreciate it. So, turns out the EGT (temperature sensor) is away, I managed to order one and I'm just waiting for someone to come and fit it, I know it's a bit of a nightmare to get to but it needs to be done. There's always something that happens to me this time of year btw. Last year the turbo packed in on the taxi I was renting and because the turbo is built into the engine it was gonna cos the guy £1400 to replace it because its an engine teardown, replace the turbo and build the engine back up. Luckily he managed to source an engine with 65,000 miles on it for around £600 and got it back on the road. That car was amazing, it had 290,000 miles on the clock and still felt so smooth driving.

    • @murphyslaw2020
      @murphyslaw2020  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      The egt can be hard to get out sometimes your better off cutting of the top of the sensor and just us a normal socket vs a open end spanner and maybe some heat.

    • @cupcakebill911
      @cupcakebill911 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@murphyslaw2020 Quick update: the mobile mechanic came over and changed the EGT sensor but didn't have a code reader to reset the fault codes. Luckily a friend of mine managed to reset the codes but now the scan shows that the dpf is blocked. The EGT sensor code is away but there's some other codes. I'm gonna take the car to the garage tomorrow and see what happens, its really stressing me out, something always happens at this time of year..

    • @murphyslaw2020
      @murphyslaw2020  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      You could do a force regeneration of the dpf. If you have a scan let's you or clean it in the car its normally easy on the vw just put the cleaner down the pressure sensor pipe that goes to the top of the dpf . You can get cleaners that are in spary can for like 30
      Or make sure you have like 1/2 tank of fuel and try make the car regen its self by going for a long drive 20 min or more you might still need a scanner to reset it
      After you get it clean you should try to tell the car you put a new dpf in but make sure its fully cleaned
      I good scan tool can do all the above
      Let us know how you get on.
      The next time I'm doing a dpf clean I'll try video it.

    Which other brands did you try?
    i've change mine with a EGR from NRF (on a 1,6TDI Touran). No errors so far - but when i accelerate normally it's like the car is a bit hesitant around 1900-2100 revs. Nothing major (can be felt by a passenger only seldom) but can be felt easier by the driver (due to better feeling with the pedal). If the accelartion is very slow or i push "pedal to the metal" then it accelerates as it should with no "hesitation". So error can be felt a little only by normal accelartion by the driver. Do you think it could also be a bad quality EGR?
    also i've afterwards noted that the producer of the Orginal EGR is WAHLER and i've found out that they have an aftermarket part Wahler 710861D. Do you use that one or the VW branded part?

I've got a VW T4 2.5 van I bought new in 2003, it's a bleedin nightmare to work on, currently in 'limp' mode and I'm spending time and money trying to make it go, it's been a month so far and no progress. I could fix my Mini van, Moggy van, Austin 1100, Austin Allegro overnight if they ever had a problem, which was seldom to never! I'm having issues on my scirocco 2.0 tdi, I suspect EGR related. It'll randomly jump, almost a stalling sensation, when accelerating, but doesn't matter if i'm doing 70 or 15mph, the feeling is the same, normally straight after the engine has had time to warm up anyway. I'm not sure if i'm fortunate or not to not have any fault codes on the dash, but makes it a nightmare figuring out what is wrong with it. Any ideas anyone??

    • @murphyslaw2020
      @murphyslaw2020  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Have you had the car scanned for fault codes ? Sounds like you maybe going into limp for a short time. The turbo actuator could be making it over boost

    • @murphyslaw2020
      @murphyslaw2020  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is setting you can check for actuator on the live data or even maybe using a multimeter. Id test it with a vacuum tester. I'd had one that was working but not as intended. You will need to adjust it on the car I had to cut up an old 10mm spanner to adjust it

    • @ravencreativemedia7382
      @ravencreativemedia7382 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Update - so it turns out my EGR, DPF and turbo are all fine. There was a burst DPF pressure pipe however, although fixed that and that wasn't the problem. No error codes on OBD either. Throttle, fuel injectors, and boost pressure reading fine, the OBD didn't even detect anything wrong when driving it and the "jump" occurred. Garage reckoned its probably something electrical, loose wiring etc, maybe even software related. Unfortunately it has to go into VW for diagnostic - not looking forward to that bill!
      I'm also thinking maybe a dodgy/dirty MAF sensor, as that has never been cleaned or replaced, so if a firmware update can't solve it, that's next.

      No joke- After doing nearly every job imaginable on a number of cars without a lift... this was the job that finally pushed me over the edge and made me go out and buy a lift. I got under the car while on jack stands, remembered the other crap i've pulled on this tdi (a lot, including removing the trans, timing belt, CP3 HPFP, etc etc etc), and said "ya know what, I'm old enough and have wrenched for long enough to not go through this again".
      So I bought a used lift, restored it, got it aligned and adjusted yesterday, and will get this job done tomorrow.
      And I'm selling the car the next week, because out of every car I've ever owned, this has required the most maintenance, bar none. The most frustrating part being I always stayed ahead on maintenance and did my best to get everything in the area "while im in there".
      I enjoyed it when it was running, but never again.

      @@murphyslaw2020 I'm about halfway through the job and I'm extremely grateful for the lift already. Honestly, I wasn't much of a VW fan going into it, but always had a soft spot for tdis. I wouldn't mind trying out an earlier PD car, but I don't want to wrench on this one again. I had bought it off a close friend a few years back, and did a fair bit to it- all the 100k repairs and then some, stage 2 tune, dsg tune, etc. Perhaps if it was a manual I'd like it a bit more. However, my friend comes back from living abroad next week and I told him "hey, you can have it back" and he agreed, so my close friend gets back the car he loves but with another 100k of maintenance complete and I get to funnel my money into something else :)
