@@Nikki__ Because a) I'm curious to know if it's a cultural difference and b) I don't see why they need to be qualified as a lady when it's irrelevant to their vocation. Why doesn't it bother you?
@@Ohverture It doesnt bother me because to be honest it is a non issue. The type of people who hyperfixate on titles that specify gender are usually misandrist or misogynist. Are you one, deep down inside? Ask yourself why does it bother me when someone uses "Lady" as a descriptive title.
@@Nikki__ I gave it some thought and no, I'm neither mysogonist or misandrist - I don't hate men but fuck I'm embarrassed to be one sometimes based on the average guy. It's such a low bar to clear to be considered a good man. Meanwhile, it bothers me for the same reason that women who are referred to as "So and so's wife" in mainstream media when some of these women are amazing in their own right and for their own reasons. Equality doesn't just come from actions, representation is definitely important. I am happy that you've (presumably) lived a life where you can consider it a non-issue, but I would urge you to step outside of your bubble and talk to women that this sort of thing does affect. I did, and it helped me understand the things I was taking for granted because I had never experienced the problems myself. Having said all that, after careful consideration, I definitely was curious from a perspective of cultural differences and the way these differences propagate due to influence from other cultures, i.e. east to west and west to east, and so forth. Thailand just became the first South East Asian country to recognise same-sex marriages, and from the outside it seems like a no-brainer, but it's a really big deal for them. It's not a fixation, it's a healthy interest.
