Great vid :) You're missing LEGO Ninjago: Shadow of Ronin though (first game I worked on at Tt!), and Avengers + Force Awakens on 3DS/Vita were very different to their console siblings (completely different level designs and different mechanics). I'd recommend grabbing a PS Vita TV and pick the Vita versions up if you fancy checking them out - the handheld engine upscales astonishingly well to 1080p on a TV!
Since you work at TT, do you know if the next IP will include Middle earth? (Lego Lord of the Rings, Lego the Hobbit). I'm really disappointed that the third movie for lego The Hobbit wasn't finished, that's why I really want a Middle Earth IP.
I think the reason Indy 2 had some weird story elements is because the team behind it was really trying to differentiate it from the first game. This caused them to think of all the gimmicks like the open worlds, bosses, level editor, and other stuff. It was weird how they cut stuff out of a lot of the movies like the boulder scene, mine cart scene, and other things. But the fact that each movie had like 15 levels was pretty awesome. Especially the ones that sort of extended the story to the movie. Like the bonus level where you could play as the British soldiers and raid the Temple from the second movie with the big statue torn down. Overall a game with a lot of ideas that worked and didn’t, but the thought was in there.
I personally loved Indy 2. Of course, I do see the flaws, but I appreciate them trying something different from the normal lego game format. I also love the extra levels that you mentioned (even though I completely forgot about them until now) I also have tons of nostalgia for it.
Mine are 1. Lego Pirates of the Caribbean. (it's just the one i have the most nostalgia for) 2. Lego Lord of the Rings (The best one if you ask me, it's just not my favourite one) 3. Both Lego Harry Potter years 1-4 and Lego Indiana Jones 1 (i just really can't decide between those two so yeah)
I’d give it a 4, a decent idea executed horribly. It was such a buggy mess with the badly implemented hero mode and the boring unlockables. The upgrades and individual hero mechanics were nice though.
I really liked DC super villains, and a large part that you didn't cover was how they made the character customiser way more interesting and actually important to gameplay. Originally in all previous games I would always skip it as I could just use characters with the same abilities rather than waste time making one with a couple of niche powers, but they really improved on and integrated the customiser to the degree that I consider it a revolutionary improvement on past Lego games
I haven't watched past the rules yet but I can already tell that this is how all reviews should be. Too many old games get a pass just because their old even if it completely destroys player experience.
LEGO Batman 2 was definitely the most revolutionary LEGO Game. Just from memory, all the big new things are: - A full, big open-world hub - Full voice acting - Flying characters - Heat beams - Save points in levels - Full vehicle features in hubs, including boats and air vehicles - More fleshed-out racing challenges And I'm pretty sure there's more, but that's what I can remember. LEGO Marvel does seem to just improve on ALL of these.
I prefer the gameplay of LEGO Batman 3, and I do love the hub, but 2's hub is just better. I would also recommend DC Super-Villains. They do some really cool new things, one of which happens right at the beginning ;)
I’ve not played all the Lego games, but I’ve played my fair share, starting all the way back to the very 1st Star Wars game, eps 1-3 (maybe when it came out). I’ve mostly played ones that focus on IPs that I love, ie Star Wars, LoTR, Harry Potter, Jurassic Park/World, POTC, Marvel and DC. I think the ones I love the most are the ones that took aspects of that IP and cleverly incorporated them into fun and interesting game mechanics and when they really focused on bringing that IPs world to life. Harry Potter and LoTR’s worlds were wonderful to explore and I loved exploring the Jurassic Park/World hubs as my favourite dinosaur, a custom made adorable legofied velociraptor. I haven’t played a Lego game for a long time (to my shame) and I’m very excited to jump back in with Lego Star Wars the Skywalker Sage. Thanks for fuelling my Lego nostalgia trip, lol.
Lego Marvel 1 is probably the best. Even in today's standards. The roster is huge, the levels are amazing (most of them), the hub is gigantic, the DLC is inexpensive, and the humor doesn't feel annoying, it doesn't just hold your hand like the newer ones do. If there was one thing I'd change, I'd update the character customizer.
I honestly have never understood why people think Marvel 1 is better than Marvel 2. Marvel 2 just improved on its predecessor in every way, the levels are better, the characters are better, and the open world was better.
@@bencarter211 Marvel 2 lacked everything that made Marvel 1 great: The story was great in 1 and subpar in 2. The levels of Marvel 1 are great and iconic, and the ones in Marvel 2 are dumb fun at best. The only things Lego Marvel 2 may have going for it is a better customizer and more variety in the hub, along with a few other advancements like Spidey wallcrawling.

You get to visit more exotic locations like wakanda and the old west and the levels felt more unique than marvel 1. in marvel 1 you had a lot of levels that seemed similar. The bonus levels were better though, due to Deadpool, Gwenpool does get a little annoying sometimes
@@bencarter211 Yeah, the locations were really good in Marvel 2. Maybe down-sizing New York City in Marvel 1 and adding Asgard and Wakanda and an updated character customizer might have made it a 10/10.
Fun fact of how I got dc super villains in the first place: Once, I explored the current offers section of the eshop to see the games that are discounted and one of them was the deluxe version of dc super villains which costed about $27 dollars when it used to be $107. When I saw that I laughed of how much discounted the game is and I bought it and actually think the deluxe version of the game is better at $27. (That sale ended but hopefully it shows up again sometime.)💖 By the way, I actually liked the story of DC super villains and made me laugh at times, also Harley is the cutest thing in the game 💗 and I really liked how the character you make actually has a big role in the story and we get to see most of the teen titans crew here! (Except starfire😢) Otherwise DC super villains is an awesome game and I think it's the best DC lego game ever! 9.6/10💗😄
Watching the this list, it's making me realize just how timeless these games are mechanically. While some are rough, I don't think any of them are outright bad. worst imo is movie 2 but even that is not an unsalvageable game
I’ve always liked Lego games but I’ve never been obsessed with them, just recently I watched one of his videos and now I’m want to buy as many Lego games as I can.
@@MRSUBWOOF. lol it can get annoying at some points especially since I hate using my phone while playing but I have to in order to look up Gold bricks, red bricks etc. But at the end it’s quite satisfying seeing 100% on the menu. I would say getting one game to 100% is satisfying enough.

I actually played all games up to Lego Dimensions and was having a blast in every single one of them except for Dimensions which I didnt have the money for. But my favorite by far were Batman 2 and, Harry Potter games and Indiana Jones 1
All of Lego Batman 3's interior hubworlds were very good it just felt like you didn't have much freedom because the planets were bad. It's a shame because that made the vehicles pretty useless but it did also have simulation style minigames, a great character roster and story and all the planets including earth had great design within the story so I would give it a 7 or 7.5 out of 10.
I’m gonna be honest, The Complete Saga has a lot of really bad, really boring, or mildly ok levels, at least to me, to me personally I don’t enjoy any of the vehicle levels except maybe the podracing one because it’s chaotic when you play with a friend, and there’s close to no prequel levels I really like aside from the maul fight, the geonisian arena, the dooku fight and the mustafar level, and there’s also not a whole lot of levels I like in the original trilogy aside from the 2 Death Star levels and the Vader vs Luke level in empire and the Vader Luke team up level in Return, other than that I think nostalgia is what only drives me to still really like that game despite me having more boring levels than non boring ones and it’s the new Lego Star Wars that’s made me realize it due to making comparisons, it’s a fantastic game but the levels by todays standards are all kinda weak aside from a few standouts
I never understood how a game can age. At least, a lego game. I can see how, say, an arcade game or a game's graphics can age, but not a lego game. I'm probably misunderstanding something here. And let's face it, that something is probably the entire debate.
Lego should totally do something like LSW TCS again, but with Lord of the Rings. They could add a few exclusive levels for Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies. They could do some kind of merge between the open worlds, and add a few of the new game mechanics to Lord of the Rings. It would be so cool. My other idea is a Lego Disneyland game. You could have the levels as the rides with IPs. Pirates of the Caribbean could be a level or two. You could play through the first movie or something. Big Thunder Mountain could have you play through Home on the Range or The Lone Ranger or something else. You can have the gold brick builds as some of the smaller rides like the Astro-Orbiters. You could have older times for Disneyland as DLCs. For instance, you could buy the 1955 DLC. It could come with some Black-and-White versions of characters and a Black-and-White filter. If you can't tell I love Disney Parks.
I think the quality of dimensions is dependent on whether or not you are willing to get the packs. I was so it’s my favourite but I completely understand if someone doesnt like it because of the cost
Well, 15 years of TT video games. Lego games at all go back to the 1995 Lego Fun to Build that no one played because it was on the Pico in Japan only lol. You should do a review of all the non-TT Lego games sometime, it'd be interesting.
Did this man forget to say that you can go to freaking *APOCALYPSE* in Dc Super Villians?! *A WHOLE NOTHER PLANET?!* Edit: But just imagine if your character could have a voice...
I really hope Lego and TT games make a Lego Middle earth package for new gen consoles (ps4 and ps5) which should include both Lego LOTR and a (finished) Lego The Hobbit.
My huge problem with Marvel Superheroes 2 is that its so MCU heavy. Disney had their stranglehold on it. Like might as well just make it a follow up to Lego marvel avengers. No xmen. No fantastic four. Etc. That took away sooooo much of what was vital to the first game. All the redesigns of the characters that had comic versions in the first game to meet their MCU designs in the second game broke my heart.
It's weird how, in the discussion for LEGO games made by TT, Bionicle Heroes is never mentioned even though it's literally just a 3rd person shooter version of these games.
Where did you find the time to review all of these? Assuming you just revisited every single one of them recently. I played about 6 of them this year and I already feel I need a breather until Skywalker Saga.
So sad that you bash Force Awakens :( That was my first LEGO game and thought it was pretty good. I liked the hub world idea where you go to different planets. And even though it's one movie one game, at least they included a lot of content and didn't omit stuff (Indiana Jones 2) I'm amazed Indiana Jones 1 got such a high score. I never finished it because there was a level in which I was unable to complete and I read reviews that others had the same problem. I "liked" Indiana Jones 2 but the one thing you didn't talk about was how ever movie had the same amount of levels and each set of levels were reskins from the other movies. I just finished "The Hobbit" and I do agree the hub world is amazing (maybe even better than than Lord of the Rings). I did get a bit annoyed with side missions being linked. Of course, not finishing the game was the worst idea ever. I think it would be cool if we could get LEGO Star Trek, Back to the Future, the whole MCU. Another City Undercover would be awesome
Would anybody be down for a LEGO Pixar game? I’ve been dreaming about it for years, and not just like LEGO Incredibles, where they threw some characters into the game and called it a day, a full-fledged Pixar game with 2-3 levels for each movie and then a huge open world, like Andy’s room, or a whole bunch of other locations. They could have so many characters from each movie. Just think of the possibilities. They could even have DLC packs with the Pixar Shorts characters or maybe even some Disney characters like Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck.

@@MRSUBWOOF. lol it can get annoying at some points especially since I hate using my phone while playing but I have to in order to look up Gold bricks, red bricks etc. But at the end it’s quite satisfying seeing 100% on the menu. I would say getting one game to 100% is satisfying enough.

I actually played all games up to Lego Dimensions and was having a blast in every single one of them except for Dimensions which I didnt have the money for. But my favorite by far were Batman 2 and, Harry Potter games and Indiana Jones 1
All of Lego Batman 3's interior hubworlds were very good it just felt like you didn't have much freedom because the planets were bad. It's a shame because that made the vehicles pretty useless but it did also have simulation style minigames, a great character roster and story and all the planets including earth had great design within the story so I would give it a 7 or 7.5 out of 10.

I’m gonna be honest, The Complete Saga has a lot of really bad, really boring, or mildly ok levels, at least to me, to me personally I don’t enjoy any of the vehicle levels except maybe the podracing one because it’s chaotic when you play with a friend, and there’s close to no prequel levels I really like aside from the maul fight, the geonisian arena, the dooku fight and the mustafar level, and there’s also not a whole lot of levels I like in the original trilogy aside from the 2 Death Star levels and the Vader vs Luke level in empire and the Vader Luke team up level in Return, other than that I think nostalgia is what only drives me to still really like that game despite me having more boring levels than non boring ones and it’s the new Lego Star Wars that’s made me realize it due to making comparisons, it’s a fantastic game but the levels by todays standards are all kinda weak aside from a few standouts

Also the dinosaurs don’t really do anything other then look cool

I never understood how a game can age. At least, a lego game. I can see how, say, an arcade game or a game's graphics can age, but not a lego game. I'm probably misunderstanding something here. And let's face it, that something is probably the entire debate.
Completely agree! Just put next gen graphics on batman 1 or TCS and they'll be contenders with the best games in the modern day.
Lego should totally do something like LSW TCS again, but with Lord of the Rings. They could add a few exclusive levels for Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies. They could do some kind of merge between the open worlds, and add a few of the new game mechanics to Lord of the Rings. It would be so cool.
My other idea is a Lego Disneyland game. You could have the levels as the rides with IPs. Pirates of the Caribbean could be a level or two. You could play through the first movie or something. Big Thunder Mountain could have you play through Home on the Range or The Lone Ranger or something else. You can have the gold brick builds as some of the smaller rides like the Astro-Orbiters. You could have older times for Disneyland as DLCs. For instance, you could buy the 1955 DLC. It could come with some Black-and-White versions of characters and a Black-and-White filter.
If you can't tell I love Disney Parks.
I think the quality of dimensions is dependent on whether or not you are willing to get the packs. I was so it’s my favourite but I completely understand if someone doesnt like it because of the cost

Well, 15 years of TT video games. Lego games at all go back to the 1995 Lego Fun to Build that no one played because it was on the Pico in Japan only lol. You should do a review of all the non-TT Lego games sometime, it'd be interesting.

My huge problem with Marvel Superheroes 2 is that its so MCU heavy. Disney had their stranglehold on it. Like might as well just make it a follow up to Lego marvel avengers. No xmen. No fantastic four. Etc. That took away sooooo much of what was vital to the first game. All the redesigns of the characters that had comic versions in the first game to meet their MCU designs in the second game broke my heart.
For rating this on 2021 standards he sure did talk about age a lot. With phrases like at the time.

So sad that you bash Force Awakens :( That was my first LEGO game and thought it was pretty good. I liked the hub world idea where you go to different planets. And even though it's one movie one game, at least they included a lot of content and didn't omit stuff (Indiana Jones 2)
I'm amazed Indiana Jones 1 got such a high score. I never finished it because there was a level in which I was unable to complete and I read reviews that others had the same problem.
I "liked" Indiana Jones 2 but the one thing you didn't talk about was how ever movie had the same amount of levels and each set of levels were reskins from the other movies.
I just finished "The Hobbit" and I do agree the hub world is amazing (maybe even better than than Lord of the Rings). I did get a bit annoyed with side missions being linked. Of course, not finishing the game was the worst idea ever.
I think it would be cool if we could get LEGO Star Trek, Back to the Future, the whole MCU. Another City Undercover would be awesome

Would anybody be down for a LEGO Pixar game? I’ve been dreaming about it for years, and not just like LEGO Incredibles, where they threw some characters into the game and called it a day, a full-fledged Pixar game with 2-3 levels for each movie and then a huge open world, like Andy’s room, or a whole bunch of other locations. They could have so many characters from each movie. Just think of the possibilities. They could even have DLC packs with the Pixar Shorts characters or maybe even some Disney characters like Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck.
This gave me nostalgia cos I used 2 always play batman 1 on the wii
