Holy crap. Do you even have children?
Financial security is not mutually exclusive with things like creativity and it certainly isn't mutually exclusive with hard work.

I never said it was. What I said was there are other ways to be successful than only focusing on money for security. Creativity can generate a lot of financial success. But immigrant families do not typically tend to encourage their children to try creative professions. There's more a preference on what looks more secure and stable. But there's no real security in anything anymore, other than ones' ability to work, to be creative in solving problems, try different things, think on your feet and be open to new ways of creating success. That's the ultimate security in this life.

It's not really an East/West issue, tbh.
Even Western families will laugh at people who go into the arts.
Have you ever heard of the starving artist? Yeah. That's real.
Most artists have to have a real day job to pay the bills and do art on the side. If they don't have a job, then they would have someone supporting them, like rich parents or a rich spouse or a retirement fund.
Some families--western or eastern--would allow their own kids to do whatever they want simply because the family itself is already well-off, and if the child cannot support itself in life, the child can always live at home.
Poorer families don't have this option.
Poorer families must find jobs that pay the bills.
They simply can't afford to feed a child past adulthood.
