Another magical video, I left Grimsby about 1970, have revisited a few times and seen many changes, mostly for the worse. It's nice to be reminded of the good old days, keep up the good work.

Shame to see the decline of Freemo. Remember seeing Greece and Jaws at the ABC. Market as a kid early 70s with my mum. Also played Sunday football for the αWellington before moving over to the Angel. We would often do a pub crawl up one side of Freemo up to Riby Square then back down the other side.

Unrecognizable from the fifties and sixties. And not for the better. My mother used to go to the peabung in the thirties for chips and scraps as they had very little money. Her father worked on the timber dock, her brothers worked on the fish dock and at Birds Eye.

I'm pretty sure woolworths was always further down the road. Yes it used to be a chapel but it was demolished by woolworths to build the new store in its place

    • @iexplores

@@iexplores a bit before my time I think. Was born in 86. I do know mad Harry's was in louth too where wh smith is now. Been a louth history buff for years. Been researching grimsby history the last couple of years and there's so much to learn. I love matching up old photos and maps with what's there now (and the bits in between).
