@5 minutes, you started to look confused as to what was happening in your ears.. .... precisely the reaction Queen were looking for.... Ty for showing that reaction almost 50 years later.. ❤

Great reaction!! When people quizzically raise their eyebrows when I say I love Queen's 'heavy & progressive' tracks, because ALL they know are their radio hits, THIS is the song I refer them to! It has everything that made Queen amazing - instrumentation (both melodic & insanely heavy - esp. at the end! Brian is OFF THE CHAIN!), vocal perfection - both with Freddie & the harmonies (that acapella call-response section is so unique), AND the epic feel. Between this and Innuendo - top my Queen favourite song list! Cheers.

I forget how complex the song is! The first time I heard it I was not sure what I was hearing. Headphones is a must for this!

Whenever I'm asked the dreaded question, 'what's your favourite Queen song?', it's usually this or 'Fairy Fellers Masterstroke' I come up with. But really, how can you choose? There's so much to get into for this song, indeed the whole album. I recommend checking out the 'Prime Rocks' series which looks at this album in great detail. I'm sure there's a break down of it on Queen's YT channel.

Given they all penned hits and were the first band to be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, one can be forgiven not picking a fav.

Thanks, Justin.. this has been called "Brian's Bohemian Rhapsody" .. but I actually find it even more complicated and beautiful.. Brian was an amazing composer (in addition to his instrumental talent).. .appreciate your reactions...(p.s. there is a lyric version...).. also goes straight into "Love of My Life".. lol

the guitar in the first part of the song gets so growling cause of the D-tuning. its means that the lower E string is lowerd to D, so it becomes lower and you can make awsome chords with that :)

I’ve been listening to this song for as long as I can remember , round 40 years but it still surprises me how good it is somehow especially if I haven’t heard it for a lang time or listen to it with good headphones 🎧 instead of just as background music.

This Is the best song Queen ever did for me. I was 12 when this was just released and my older brother bought the vinyl album. Crazy to see the timing it took to get the tape loops to sync up on the master. This is so epic along the same time as 10cc - I’m Not In Love.

Interesting fact, many music teachers use Queen music to inspire their students in sound (choirs and instrumental) It's funny because when I was in school they played some classical then some Queen to instruct us on choral singing and instrumental use. Great reaction.

    • @dianecourtney2724
      @dianecourtney2724 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Yes. Some music courses take on the study of Bohemian Rhapsody for a six week study.

@@dianecourtney2724 I sure enjoy it. My teacher would point out that Queen perfected choral singing, but also used classical music elements in many of their songs.

What always catches my attention in ther choir part of the vocal mid-section is how they only sing " I _ YOU" and the "COME HERE" part completes it to "I HEAR YOU". Really clever. This song was driving me completely insane when I listened to it as a kid. So epic and full of mystery. I can't wait for yoyur reaction to GOOD COMPANY tho. This is a Brian May Masterclass in my book.

I think all the 3 delay vocal section is clearly Freddie, but yes I think Roger is defo in the 2 delay sections you highlighted @@LucTonnerre2000

That’s a peace of work , awesome indeed. I can’t recall many, if any, other bands using drop D tuning around that time. I’m sure they’ll catch up at some point. Nice Job.

Actually there's a song, a really experimantal one that was released in their last album, that is the longest Queen song, with almost 23 minutes. It wasn't mentioned in the album, so it has many names: Track 13, Untitled, 13 and my favorite Ascension. There are a lot of theories surrounding this song.

Back in October 2015 I saw Queen Extravaganza (official Queen tribute). Marc Martel was the singer at the time. They were touring for the 40th anniversary of ANATO. First set was all songs from the first 3 albums. Second set was all of ANATO. Encore was In the Lap of the Gods revisited and Tie your Mother Down. No song newer than 1976. In an amazing concert The Prophets Song was just jaw dropping!

I heard this back in 1976... unfortunately our tape snapped and I did not hear it again until the early to mid 80s and it all started coming back to me... this definitely is among my fav Queen tracks... perhaps just on the cusp of the top 10 but there's so many incredible parts I think.... interesting that Freddie's tape loop part is actually a composite of parts and the echoing is only done on specific parts... back then it was so magical as we didn't know about the tech....

Epic song! A funny story: Brian was slaving away over the last details of this song getting ready for the final recording. He went to bed that night exhausted. Unbeknownst to him a DJ friend of Freddie's named Kenny Everett had sneaked out a premix of the song and played it on the radio. Brian woke up in the morning to his unfinished song being played on the radio! Great Reaction!

Nice, epic rocker. The choral section is a bit of a gimmick to my ears (I think Yes did it better on "South Side of the Sky"), but there's no discounting the talent on display and great use of the studio.

Acoustic guitars does not = Country. Country music is Plugged in and amplified. The pedal steel guitar is the dominant feature of country music
