This is a very long process. Many might never progress and be stuck here like the Rasengan guy while others get on the right path and eventually move onto the next entry. Someone who can understand dialogue with Japanese captions turned on. Very close to fluent. Someone who can understand dialogue without captions. Functionally fluent, victory. Someone who has moved to Japan and functions as part of their society. Obviously has to speak, read, and write in the language to do so. The ultimate dream for hardcore weeaboos that few ever accomplish.
I actually downloaded a game similar to this one and went to the Japanese server with 2 more friends when they left some Japanese were already there and singing anime intro's. And watching anime is an advantage to learning a few words in Japanese so I "Tokyo Guru onegaishimasu" and it worked".
