- The Charles de Gaulle aircraft carrier is the flagship of the French Navy.
This ship is the first and only nuclear-powered surface combatant vessel built in Western Europe. By 2019, France is the only country, outside the United States, to have completed the construction of a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier. The French aircraft carrier is a major military and political asset enabling France to assert its authority worldwide.

the French have excellent engineers, they produce all their weapons, nuclear submarines, combat planes, tanks, aircraft carriers, artillery systems, ... everything. and this is remarkable in today's world, especially with the budget they devote to their defense which is 14 times less than the American budget. If all of Europe acted like the French, Europe would have by far the first army in the world and the most technologically advanced.
Hubo un presidente estadounidense no me acuerdo quien, dijo la calidad del armamento francés era incuestionable pero si su cantidad!!!
The french have always been first in aviation, dimwit. The HIGHLY RESPONSIVE Dassault Rafale. And, duh,.. the Aérospatiale. The fastest aircraft in the world. I don't need the likes of you to tell my anything WHATSOEVER about the history of engineering OR design in France.

@@Ryakuuza it wouldn't be on flight deck for maintenance I guess
i have to say, the Charles De Gaulle is a real carrier....too many countries claim this label, only the French, US and the UK carry that title.
French carriers do not have capable aircraft the British fly F-35B,they would destroy the entire French airforce and sink all their ships with no losses.
Pretty sure China and India should join the list
@@loyesluise7621 I don't see what's the issue with that... Besides UK uses ramps too
UK carriers are a joke, idk if those should be called carriers
I'm sorry but for UK they are not real aircraft carriers, they carry planes. There are no catapults and are therefore not compatible with NATO air forces. they are not aircraft carriers.
Charles de Gaulle is actually quite beautiful to look at.
As of 2024, France operates one aircraft carrier: the Charles de Gaulle (R91)12. This formidable vessel serves as a mobile airstrip and warplane hangar, capable of carrying and deploying aircraft without relying on a local air base. The Charles de Gaulle has played a vital role in France’s naval capabilities and global operations.
Nice looking ship. Really needed a second carrier to assist with availability
yeah one for the north, and second for mediterranean ops
It was the plan, but it was stopped by the new administration for cost cutting measures.
Yes atleast incase the other one needs refit, the other can replace its job❤
Hard to believe that the old Ark Royal (R09) was only about 50 feet shorter but displaced almost 54,000 tons at full load in her final few years. Always wondered why the French built their nuclear carrier so small...
this is all about budget to built and mentenenence.....
Because there is no need for it to be as big as Americans carriers. With his catapults and most advanced aircrafts it is doing the job perfectly. the only need we, french, have is to get a 2nd one to replace it when the 1st is on maintenance.
Someone saying it’s to save money, bro this carrier was a financial disaster
Nuclear powered carriers will be a disaster when they go into Naval warfare especially smaller ones because the Reactors will be hit and all onboard will be contaminated and the fleet won’t be able to help
The French navy is modern well organized and very well equipped their crews are well trained and fit they look battle-ready with well-armed ships, the RN have a lot to learn,
Are you mental? The Royal Navy have 2 larger carrier, of which the French originally wanted Britain to build one for their navy, we’re so in-superior you for the longest time felt we could do a better job then your own industry. Likewise as lovely as the French fighter’s are the Royal Navy fields better 5th gen F-35’s. Also the Royal Navy, have one of the best and longest aircraft carrier history’s behind the Americans. You’re a blind patriot and your whole point is just stupid. Yes of course the French carrier is impressive with amazing fighters, but pick a fight with a nation more on your level.
The French carrier is much less capable than RN ones because the French don't have capable fighters.Queen Elizabeth flies F-35B's,while these have less range and capabilities than A and C variants, it doesn't matter as once in the sky they can be refueled and they'd have a 100 to zero kill rate against French fighters.
Even the US does not fly F-35C's off of the Gerald Ford it will take time to get the elevators and EMALS systems up to combat readiness,I do like nuclear power, and France has the most clean energy in the world ,when they can get their reactors running, which most of them should be back in service just in time to save France tens of billions the Germans have to pay for LNG.

Next generation raphael of charls de Gaulle of TH-cam
Hope to be in it.
I hope we get a EU army so we can start mass producing things to actually get some results. We can rival any superpower but instead we bitch and moan against each other. We united our aircraft manufacturer to rival boeing and succeed extremely well with airbus, we can do it with our military industry as-well. MBDA is a great cooperation when it comes to our missile developments and manufacturing.
There is no united Europe today Europeans are dying in trench warfare barbaric for a barbaric people, the Germans and French give no help despite their armed being useful against the primitive Russians.
Without the United Started keeping them apart Europeans fall into murdering each other immediately.
You can't spell superpower. You can't even defend European soil against the Russian barbarians. You paid Russia for 40 years billions a day and now you sit helpless.
Only one E-2 Hawkeye? There where 2 in the video. With a in flight duration of 8 hours, plus factoring in maintenance, there should be at least 4 E-2’s.
wow after the USA and the french do magic with nuclear fuel, made nuclear aircraft carriers. NO fuel required 7-10 years, but guards eat more fuel (Destroyer, submarine...)
We also have Several Nuclear Powered Submarines to guard it.
In fact, the Fuel Ship that goes alongside, is set only for Frigates and Aircrafts on CDG desk. Better than if we had to refuel every one. It doesn't make the CDG eternal during deployment, but it significantly increase its deployment capability.
The USN regularly deploys multiple Super Carriers for at least 6 months at a time. How long can your Navy be deployed? At fleet speeds it takes more fuel to move a Super Carrier then the rest of the task force combined. This is why we kept our CVN'S while retiring the rest of our nuclear powered surface fleet at the end of the Cold War. USN Carrier taskforce resupply at sea while under way if they need something double quick our Super Carriers have C-2 cargo planes. No other Navy has this ability the USN has been doing it for half a century.
@@rburns9730
Indeed. We didn't deny it.
It's just we have "only" 40 billion € defense budget and a country of 67 million people. And we have virtually the same projection of force ability thanks to nuclear powered carrier. But again we do not have your amount of carriers.
@@MACcER34 I wasn't giving the French a hard time I was asking the OP what they have. At least the CDG has interoperability at the Fleet level with the USN. We can launch and retrieve each other's aircraft. The UK has two glorified LHD's and a handful of inferior airframes with no real cross platform capability. In a world where fossil fuels are becoming super expensive the French aren't going to be asking for fuel to move their carrier. Everyone else will be at the mercy of an industry everyone wants to kill.

QUESTION: if the nuclear ship gets a direct hit will the nuclear reactor then spread nuclear waste within the sea and marine life for the next 1,000 years ???? Let alone the atmosphere???? Chernobyl and Fukushima. ... (HMS hood took a direct hit, when the designers said it couldn’t happen)
Answer : comme le nez au milieu de la figure , les soviets ont fait des brise-glaces nucléaires ( i.e. more or less civilian use )sinon , nuclear prop. is military , hence u hit anything nuclear = war , immediate response deserves to un-pile ur stock of ICBM through subs , bombers , m.be satellites etc. All in all u can check around 2,425 global trials of nukes have been detonated up to now... What most people don't know is salt water is an excellent insulator for radiation. One foot of seawater is the equivalent of one inch of lead. So an exposed reactor at the bottom of the ocean would only be dangerous within a few feet of the reactor.
yeah i know, humans... imbecils.
Those who designed the Hood knew exactly what could happen to it seeing as it (exploding) happened to three other battle cruisers at Jutland.

Hello , can somebody tell me why the rafflale plane, which is a good plane, have that ugly stick in front of the window.?
Why they don't hide it or make o hole in the fuselaj to retract It?
stick which is used for refueling in the air by cargo tanker planes, no need to hide it, this plane is very good as its
Because a retractable system mean more potential failures and more maintenance, wich decrease the average availability of the plane while having no operational advantage.
The British aircraft carrier ar a joke ! They only have 4 F 35 each. eight between both of them.🤣🤣🤣 The Charles de Gaulle may be small but very efficient yeah it's been proved

This is not the most advanced ship, this woman doesn’t know what she’s talking about. The French finally get a small carrier and think there in the best now. They have a long way to go to even compare to the US Navy. But I hope they do along with the British so they can start taking some of the deployments off of the US fleet.

If you think Nuclear power is more expensive than conventional propulsion, you must be having a laugh mate.
@@thibaudduhamel2581 It actually is, expecially when you consider the decommissioning costs
@@Spartan-jg4bf which were known when building the ship. Ever wondered why America doesn't go back to conventional powerplants for their new gen aircraft carriers? It's both safer and cheaper to go nuclear. I'd add that, given the huge investment by France in civilian nuclear, the fuel costs are quite low, as the CDG reactor uses civilian grade nuclear fuel.
@@thibaudduhamel2581 Nuclear on ships isnt cheaper or safer, do you know anything about decommissioning of nuclear waste? Its not cheap, what nuclear power gives is lots of energy to power up and coming technology, rail guns, laser etc. The key thing people say about nuke power is it gives unlimited range which isn't true. All the surface escorts are not nuke powered and the ship still has to take on new supplies of food and water. If a nuke carrier sinks it will create an ecological disaster that would take 100s of years to clean up. The US can afford nuke carriers as they have a 700 billion budget.

So stop saying nonsense, your information is completely wrong. why African countries want the French to leave if this country pays bribes to leaders. On the other hand, get information directly from people in direct contact with Africans. the french, like most other countries use african resources yes, but in return for a lot of indirect aid, which other countries like russia and china do not do which are only there to exploit the African. they help these countries financially and industrially at first, while knowing that africa will not be able to keep its commitments and there, lack of luck for the africans, they will be required to put themselves completely at the mercy of these countries. we can see the result with montenegro which can no longer repay these debts with china and unfortunately, this china is setting up in return. africa is unfortunately unable to take charge of itself. many times many world countries which have known war have started from scratch and have been able to develop and these countries are now rich, they have worked, developed their skills, their industries. Africa has always failed to do this and always relies on others, they will never manage to take charge of each other, always wars, rivalries, presidents who get rich at the expense of inhabitants. not generalize of course, some countries are developing without outside help and it is very good to stop blaming everything on the colonizers and go ahead, try to fend for yourself.
