I think they're making more of a point to use what waz funny from their rehearsals or pre-snl stand up routines early in the season. Both the robot stand up and the one word make up a song character were from that actor's stand up routine. The same may be true of this bit with Sherman.
I’m commenting a second time having watched this again. I’ve been thinking for a while that the quality of SNL has been sinking fairly dramatically, but man, this was so funny and entertaining. What brilliant chaotic energy. That’s what made SNL so good - the CHAOS of live comedy. The new cast members are eclipsing the seasoned veterans. Loving the energy and the humour. More more more!!! This is the closest modern SNL has ever come to capturing the energy of Gilda Radner.

I’m commenting a second time having watched this again. I’ve been thinking for a while that the quality of SNL has been sinking fairly dramatically, but man, this was so funny and entertaining. What brilliant chaotic energy. That’s what made SNL so good - the CHAOS of live comedy. The new cast members are eclipsing the seasoned veterans. Loving the energy and the humour. More more more!!!

I like those moments when it’s either Colin or Michael speaking to the guests and the other one just interrupts to pull a roast like when Michael said “she got you man you suck” 😅

... and yet always smiling, a happy and contented smile, still paying attention to being the host on Weekend Update but seemingly always daydreaming of being some beautiful play may be enjoying the beautiful curves of some lovely Mountain somewhere, or maybe he's looking up at those beautiful mountains and enjoying all the excitement and enjoyment and truly rewarding experiences quite possibly some of the most fun can be had down in the valley after you've enjoy your time and appreciate the Magnificent splendor of the mountains
