OMG finally I've been waiting for someone to start producing these this is just a miniature version of a CV joint on a full size that is the coolest thing I have seen in the rc industry 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥👍👍👍👍
Originally, 20+ years ago, GS Storm 8th scale buggies, u used the diff cup set screw to completely lock the diff gears up by turning the setscrew IN. Easy 'tuning secret' on hi bite clay tracks. Thank goodness technology changed, for the better!
I taped my badlands with kevlar ( yes a bit extreme 😜 ) with Pattex ( shoegoo is better but more difficult to apply) the inner side of the tires and ZERO balooning over 70mph, zero, last think to keep everything together and go over 70 is balancing the wheels… a clean beast , thank you for the video Sir 👍😎 awesome 😎
I've ruined a few sets of tires with 12s....Masher X, Hatchet, Rooster. Waiting on a set of Terraforms from MethodRC so hopefully they can hold up to the power
@@ExocagedRC ring gear is going to be off on the mesh with the pinion when spinning. Buy the losi cups (center) ones because they have the metal bottom unlike the vitavon ones that are aluminum.
An easy mistake to make really, we all forgot to fit a screw on at some point, just as well there was no serious damage. Still a great run though Joe. 👍👌
From my experience with ball drive on RC, it doesn't hold up. My ball drive on a Baja was galling the grooves in the cups to the point it was actually catching - Also tried some specifically for the DBXL-E and I shattered a cup on 12S. Wheels continue to be a monumental problem, going to try TaylorRC's foamless super spikes, in theory they can't blow out.
Hey Joe what batteries are you using? I just recently installed the max4 combo in my dbxle. I usually run smc batteries but they don't have the ones I want in stock
@@ExocagedRC I've broken a few axles when I had the MGM system and now I have the Max4 so I suspect more are in my future. I guess I'll be sending more $$ to Vitavon
You've made a fan of Vitavon upgrades out of me after seeing how they improve the performance of some of these rigs! When it comes to the UDR, would you recommend upgrading the rear axle or the transmission housing first with Vitavon? I'm not sure which way to go, but thinking rear axle!? Also, thinking about going to the Vitavon rear carriers because they use a bigger inboard side bearing! Which appears to be a weak point in the Maxx. Any opinion or advice there?
12s is not for bashing that motor is 1.8kg +the massive controller + alloy parts x2 6s batteries i sold my 12s and went to a castle 1100kv and the truck performs much better and can 15,000w but like to keep it around the 8000w area for continuous use the proline wheels are a let down but the tyres are good i'm currently running taylor rc super spikes but they are not for jumping. check out my channel there's a vid of mine on 6s its surprising
I really dont know what to think of this channel. While it's cool to see what upgrade options are out there everything this channel is about is to throw ludicrous amounts of money around and bolt parts on a vehicle somebody else designed. This comment would make more sense on the xmaxx vitavon aluminium chassis but I'm watching this video right now and this is what comes to my mind. I dont want to come of as a jerk here, but that mindset is what bugs me the most thinking of what became of our hobby in general. Instant gratification rtr buyers who only buy plug and play upgrades instead of thinking of a solution on their own, like model builders had to do 15 years ago.
I do like to build crawlers and do some budget stuff. On Bashers and Racers like this, whats there to build at home? On crawlers I can fab links and swap this part and that part and do way more. On Vehicles like this, if you look at the time frame of when I got it to now, its been about a year. I do these in stages as best I can.
I must say, i do enjoy you going overboard on some of your RC cars, just to get an idea of what's out there. The beautiful part about this hobby is you can do what ever your heart desires. If you have a taste for more go for it, if you have a taste for less go for it! Keep up the cool videos man. You are much appreciated.
THis was a very helpful video for rebuilding my diffs on the DBXL..thanks brother

The Energy ⚡ of this channel is just epic and always my first watch when I get into the shed and am looking to start the day 🌄💯🤘
Thank you buddy
2 handed ball adjustments... Ya know man skills. 🙂
LOL one hand wasn't enough!!
Still my favourite car , now even better 👍👌👍
What a great channel and content. As someone looking to pick up a DBXL I appreciate these videos and all the commentary.

Another great video. You give me lots of ideas for modifying my DBXL-E 2.0
Looks like a proper birfield axle shaft....
you said "lube the balls"🤣
Dbxl 1.0 with as I have are the best r/c buggy losi has put out

I am a little surprised no one has done a full-size style CV joint before. I would think on the bigger vehicles they would work really well.
The shaft has 3 ball connections out side the gearbox, but still has a pin inside the box, doesn't the same drive weakness exists!??
Love it! Its really moving.. wish tire game would improve some😊 thankfully we have mx43's
Same here!
Great video. Things happen sometimes 👍🏻
🤦🏻♂️ One of those days 🤷♂️.
I have a problem with the other end of shaft . Does nobody make something better on the hub end?
I'd love to see what a set of trenchers would do for air rotation;)
oh those big things? They'd probably pop
Can these Axel shafts be used on the front and the rear? It does not state in the description. I might have missed it.
yep sure can
the screeching noise under acceleration is you plastic diff cups. They are Warp and not true.
hmm do you think the ring gear is rubbing if they're flexing?

A lot of guys probably don't know it but the ball system is very similar to how regular cars are driven up front.
true but these don't really roll in there
What do you mean?

were they Vitavon brand? Maybe these are made of a better material?
Hi mate another beast I've got 4 of those controller's they are great but nearly doubled in price now. Another great video mate keep them coming 👍👍🤪🤣🤣
They are back to about $70 now. There were at $100 a month ago
Hello
Can you please tell me which grease (the white one) you are using in the dif please ?
great video. did you have to change the out drives to be able to use the vitavon drive ball shafts?
That's a beast 💯💯👍👍🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Takes balls to speed run that thing
All this talk of lubin balls 🤤 🎉 🤣
Hey Joe what batteries are you using? I just recently installed the max4 combo in my dbxle. I usually run smc batteries but they don't have the ones I want in stock
what is the current weight of this RC with all of that aluminum on it?
about 40lbs or so
Great video! Keep up the good work.does vitivon make Arms for that thing?
Yes and I have them, just not sure I want to put them on
So cool! Do you think these will work for DBXL 2.0 gas?? My stock diff cups are getting worn after just a couple days of running...
😁👍
Would those work on a 1.0?
Will the shafts / cups fit the gas version???
Oh I’m still here my man lol always
Joe i think you had too much fun saying lube the balls lol just joking bro haha
😂😂 certainly a few ball jokes on this one
What gearing are you running in your rig
losi 5T front shocks all around
those will bolt in?
@@ExocagedRC yes. Try it first. Same ones on your 5B

Yep same

What your diff setup brother?
A little thicker than stock oils, nothing special
Admit it's nice to have as much power as that at your fingertips, I have twice 6S on my KRATON and my LOSI TLR and that's enough like that
yeah
Are you a dealer for vitivon ? Thanks

yeah rear axle for sure, then rear trailing arms. yeah most all of his hubs and knuckles have bigger bearings.
@@ExocagedRC Thankyou! Very much appreciated!
Looks like a good kit but kinda disappointed. They are gonna have the same issue of throwing pins at the wheel end.
Bigger pins by .5mm. And they are locked in well with the recess in the pin.

not really, the diffs need metal cases but then once thats done you can go as crazy as you want.
