    Hi arran i am an new zealander permanent resident myself and my husband who is Pakistani nationality. I had come over to pakistan in nov 2019 on a single entry visa for 3 weeks as sardar and i had not met in person .we had spent quality time with each other and we got married while i was over there. I then came back to new zealand and we both planned that i go back to pakistan in 2020 but unfortunately covid had hit and we were living apart from each other long distance for 3years. We have proof of evidence of our chats messages and supported documents of me sending money over etc . I then came back to Pakistan this year in may we had met up with each other in dubai for an few days as sardar did not have any travel history as he had applied twice in the past and got declined. We are now living together in the same house on his work premises as sardar works as an senior lab technician. We are sharing expenses we have got an legal marriage certificate and i would really love for him to come back with me to new zealand after 6 months to apply for an visit visa how would he go about that . Any advice would be very much appreciated

    oh my ?? the more i listen to this and read the comments the sicker i feel ,the more hopeless i feel the more stress i feel ,what a performance for a partner to come into a country what a disgrace on humanity to sparerate love or to be judged by one persons opinion if they think you are in a relationship i fear for my sanity as we ie my commom law husband or defacto havent a show in hell to be together in this country

      There are other ways to get partners in so to allow a chance to them live together. It's just that the partnership visa may not be the best first step.

    Hi Aaron thanks for the update.
    My wife has been told inz will process a GVV when the borders open.
    This is to give us the opportunity to live together then apply for a partnership visa.
    Do you know when this would be? and also would moving to the Philippines be my best option to get my wife here?
    Thanks Aaron and keep up the good work.

      Hi,
      They haven't decided on the date yet, though it won't be in 2021. Possibly at some time in 2022.

    So how about applying general visitor visa first for 3 to 6 months and live together and meet the criteria before applying or changing it to partners visa conditions. I mean this should meet the criteria of living together in New Zealand. But the questions is will immigration allow people to get general visitor visas?

      Hi Farman,
      Unfortunately INZ are not processing GVVs at the moment, and likely won't do until the border opens. That is what we used to do with clients, but that isn't possible at the moment.

    It absolutely feels like a lose lose situation. I was denied a CPV because we did not have evidence of joint financial or living expenses. Unfortunately coming from a waiver country i did not have a visa so his Kiwi Bank would not allow him to add me and here in the States you cannot have a bank account without a social security number. This is like a nightmare. We were going to reapply but that denial letter hit us both very hard. Thank you for all the information, please stay safe.

      Hi Julie,
      We had a CPVV granted for a US client today, so they can be done. As I cover in the video, its all about the evidence that is provided, so while you may not be able to get bank accounts, there will be other things that can be provided, and they can be provided in a way that assists INZ to make an easy decision.

    Hi. I am a New Zealand RN and I have recently obtained a job offer letter from Nwzland. I will be apply for CCVV from Nepal in a few days. On of my friends suggested me not to include my husband in my application as we have not lived together for atleast a year in the last 3.5 yrs of our marriage. I am totally upset with this but don't know if we should take the risk. I am in Nepal and he in Japan. We have wedding pictures, videos, document showing traveling together for honeymoon, my two months visit to Japan, proofs of him sending money from Japan into my account here, and moreover all the Facebook posts and pictures ever since we got married. But the only problem is we haven't been able to stay together for more than 5 months mainly because of this pandemic. I would really be grateful to your suggestion on this.

    • @ImmigrationNZLaw
      @ImmigrationNZLaw  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Pragya,
      There is no reason to not include him. If they don't believe you've lived together then they should grant your visa and decline his. We can't comment on whether he is likely to get it without seeing the evidence, but we've seen people granted CPVVs at the same time as their partner being declined.

      Unfortunately only a small number of partners of work visas are able to apply for border exceptions. Sadly, we don't see that changing until some time in 2022.

    What's the difference between Critical purpose visitor visa (for partner of NZ citizen) and NZeTA? Immigration is giving NZeTA for visa waiver countries. CPVV takes time to process where NZeTA take maximum 2 days. Is it better to apply for NZeta rather than CPVV? @
    Stace Hammond Lawyers - Immigration

    • @ImmigrationNZLaw
      @ImmigrationNZLaw  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi,
      NZeTA are NOT visas. All they are is to show that someone from a visa waiver country has paid their contribution towards keeping our national parks clean. That fee is usually part of the visa application process but, as they don't do that, they pay it via NZeTA. The visa itself for visa waiver countries is usualy granted on arrival. However, with the border closed, they are not being granted and people from those countries CANNOT fly under the visa waiver scheme. So please do not see and NZeTA as a visa, as it isn't. It's just to help show that they have helped keep NZ clean and beautiful.

    Very grateful for this video. I know that many people who are in long distance relationship get General Visitor Visa to live with their partners in NZ before applying to Work Visa based on partnership, so I wanted to ask if I need to write a cover letter to INZ to explain my purpose as "I want to live with my partner and check if I want to make NZ my permanent home", cause GVV is for tourism only and my purpose (which is living with my partner and then applying to another visa) isn't bone fide. Have you had any client who provided such a cover letter? Thanks in advance and please take care!

    • @ImmigrationNZLaw
      @ImmigrationNZLaw  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Farida,
      With GVVs for partners, before the border closed, we would submit a request for a waiver as to the bona fide conditions for that very reason. We've drafted many such letters for clients to allow them to be in NZ with their partner, and allow them to live together. However, at the moment GVVs aren't being processed, so this isn't an option.

    My partner was accepted for a partnership based CPV visa but declined for a partnership work visa based on not meeting the living together requirements even though we used the exact same documents for both. Is this something you’ve seen before? It doesn’t really make sense to us!

    • @ImmigrationNZLaw
      @ImmigrationNZLaw  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Teighlor,
      Different officers can view things differently. However, we haven't seen any of our clients get a CPVV, and then be declined on the subsequent PWV.

    Hello. How can I contact your office. My story in a nutshell is that I am in a long distance relationship with my partner since April 2020. We have not met each other . He stays in New Zealand (work visa, Manager at a restaurant in Napier, NZ)and I stay in India. But we do have evidence regarding sending gifts to each other, Sharing our credit cards for purchases and a lot of Chat and Video calls. In fact our families talk to each other. Since there is lockdown in NZ and no hope for him to travel back to India, we are looking for options where I can come to NZ. Please let me know , even if there is little hope, We are willing to try. Thank you.
