Nice car. It looks impeccable. I just want to make a comment: the automatic transmission is a Hydramatic Drive and is 4 forward gears. With the selector in L, the car starts in first and changes to second. With the selector in Dr, being on the right, part in first and change to second and then to third. If the needle of the selector is to the left of Dr, the car starts in first and makes all the changes, reaching fourth or direct. This is an excellent automatic transmission. It gives the cars a great acceleration and a high top speed.
Pontiac, Oldsmobile & Cadillac had Hydromatic. Buick had Dynaflow which didn't perform as well but was smoother. Chevy had TorqueFlite which was cheaper...
HA. Wonderful beautiful car but it was 4 years ago that you displayed this one big tease it's for sale nice to look at but would have loved to have it but is it sold by now?
Very very hard to restore car due to the fact that there are zero reproduction parts made. I’ve been collecting parts for mine since 1991 and I finally have collected everything I need except headlight trim rings . These cars had way more class then the Chevrolets and we’re about $600 more and that was a lot of money back then.
Is there still a heater under the passenger seat for heat to the back seat passengers? I replaced the one in my twin brothers car, his was the same color.
The long back fenders prove that this Pontiac is actally a top model Star Chief, and not a Chieftain 870, as initially I though. Anyway, being a Star Chief it should be carrying its 3 stars at each side of the body, one at the posterior end of the front fenders, and 2 more on the doors.
Very nice car. I don´t know why Pontiac never purchased many cars in Chile. Pontiac offered excelent engines of six and eight cilinders; also Hydramatic automatic transmission from 1948. Pontiac were not expensive cars. But people bought Chevrolet, Ford, Plymouth, Mercury.
Even though the paint is great and most all the chrome has been re chromed, its still a bondo car, as I have a trained eye and can see the waves. Its worth is 7500.00 and no more.
This car is magnificent.
Awesome Pontiac ,my mother had one .She said it was the best car she ever drove.
This is an awesome car
How much glass is in the right rear quarter panel? More waves then the sea.
The original 'Pontiac' lettering on the passenger side dash has been replaced with modern Pontiac lettering.
Looks nice, but should be changed to original.
Thst needs to come off...

B&M Hydro made their reputation on this Transmission!

Hi, I've seen and read your post, you wouldn't by chance have a spare rear bumper laying around would you?

I have a 55 2 door post I've been a hot rod that has been stored in the barn for 50 years
Is it still available?????

All these people that have a double Nichol Pontiac and yet they have no extra parts...unreal. I need a rear bumper.
It's just a body no motor Platinum very nice shape will take a considerable offer
I have a spare bumper yes both front and rear
Parents had one.
It would sound better with dual exhaust. My brothers car came with duals from the factory and four barrel carburator.
Great car but terrible camera work - too jerky

Toss the skirts, makes it look like an old man's car.
You couldn’t build that car for $25,000
To much money !!!!!!
