caught my biggest steelhead on a 8mm bead 16 lbs 34 inch
total beast 👍
Don't forget the yarn!
A tuft of yarn snags the fishe's teeth & is sometimes the only reason you knew you got a bite!
so you determine what color you use based on how long you think the eggs have been in the water? I know there are always early spawners and late spawners but do you know what phase most of these great lakes steelhead are in? are they starting to spawn or are they just now finishing?
Great lakes steelhead beads are the very best colours I have used to date and I was able to get them into a lot of the stores in my area thankfully ...hands down winner!
I was wondering if you've tried the hero drifter no shot bobbers. they are made so no weight is needed below the float. the weight of the float is matched exactly, to the weight of the bead.
When/ where do punk egg color patterns come into play?
Good job explaining
Good info! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Infinity251214 for watching and your support. Have a great season
You're very welcome Sir and all the best to you too. Keep these great videos coming!
I was wondering how you tell which stage if the egg bite they're in... Trial and error? Color of fish being caught?
+Wrip2020 If there is fresh fish on the beds and your fishing for drop backs behind the spawning fish, then it's a fresh egg bite. The current species of fish spawning will dictate the color of the fresh eggs. If the beds have been void of spawning fish for let's say 3 days or even1 to 2 weeks then it's a fresh dead egg bite. If there has been no spawning fish for some time in the river, then it's a dead egg bite. Hope that helps Good Luck
okay. Great knowledge! How long after the last fresh run do you think there are still good numbers of fish in the water?
+Wrip2020 That's tough to say depends on many factors like water temp, flow, weather and when they arrived there to spawn, etc....
real good tip
The river near me has a very dirty lo-vis clarity so what colour beat do i use
Are trick em beads neutral boyant?
Beads work year round on most trout rivers.
Ain't no stages go by water clarity and even then it still doesn't matter
If I go fishing in this time of year what color should I use?
Hi, there this time of year, not many eggs floating down the river. However with King Season coming that will all change. For me, it boils down to color, size, profile on a single egg presentation. The Steelhead is a very color conscious fish based on water clarity and flows just experiment and the fish will tell you what they want. One day last year myself and 2 buddies went through many color bead choices throughout the day to keep catching fish. Whenever you have water or wind ripple on the river the fluorescent colors are my go to. My recommendation would be just experiment. Thanks for reaching out and tight lines!
Is that a Rolex day just ?
+1
Never had luck with beads
Never
Jason Nester so sorry to hear Beads can absolutely rail fish. A single egg presentation can be tough to beat. Keep trying they most certainly work. Tight Lines
in Wisconsin, off Lake Michigan, Super UV tangerine or peach in March. we put procure krill gel on egg. water is high and dirty
Here's how much steelhead love eggs. I once watched 2 steelies chasing a very pregnant fall Chinook. They took turns poking her with their noses into her sides, forcing eggs out of her on every hit.
