That is untrue, they are NOT going to scrutinise how claimants are spending their money this is a popular misconception. The DWP are not authorised to access banks accounts directly, they have to request Banks flag up someone when their account balance exceeds the maximum amount for savings (currently 16k, and a claimant has to notify when savings go above 6k), whether they have been out the country more than a month and unusual lump sum payments made into their accounts.
I'm currently on pip after working all my life from 15 due to getting 2 herniated discs in the lower spine, I've been made to feel like a criminal just to claim something I'm entitled to and paid into the system, if you refuse the bank searches you could lose the benefits.

They will only look at accounts that show certain criteria like going about allowed savings limits, being abroad more than 4 weeks and for lump sums. DWP do not have authorisation to look at bank accounts directly.
@JoanCarradine no universal do instead you get notified that your account is being checked with no evidence of any wrong doing, you have to prove 4 months bank statements,it is horribly injust when like I said before I've worked all my life since 15 and had a work injury and now require a little help back from the system I and the rest of the working people paid into.
@JoanCarradine I've never been abroad, do not even have a savings account and never been paid more than a month's wage in one go so none of the above applied to me yet was made to provide4 months bank statements for me and partner.
BENEFIT SYSTEM WILL COLLAPASE IN 5 WEEKS, england is out the game scotlans wales etc etc we all out, the countr was sold not for money tho, it was sold for the ability to let people in to the or on to the islandas a 34 year old english citizen who rememebers the bosnian conflifcts i would say for a afct we aree about to go in to war times, hold ur family and friends close its going to go off!!
@@Norwichotbc738 i think this time the people will have to come together, theirs lots of places in and around, theres places underground up high or somewhere u have to balance everything, water food hygeine then medicines , close ones first... like dandelion or plantain even knowing these 1 or 2 could help when shit hits it at 200Mph

Why would they need to check your bank if you are on Pip it isn’t means tested so should make no difference to them what you have in your bank
Because it is not for PIP, only means tested benefits like UC and income based ESA currently but you are correct PIP is not means tested.
