    I was in Monaco for the first time two weeks ago and man I still can’t believe that place is real... it’s like fantasyland in real life. No trash, no homeless, and everyone is driving a Lamborghini or Bentley. But the insane wealth did not mean anyone was snobby...the people there were so nice and friendly. Such a weird but great little place.....just be aware that you have to take out two mortgages on your house to visit.

      @Jacob Wilson Do you per chance look at the gilded age, slavery in the American South, coal mine companies etc. and screech "ThAtS nOt ReAl cApItAlISm!" And yes, dear friend, I do think millionaires harm society.

      @Jacob Wilson False equivalencies and a misguided claim that that's in inherently socialistic or communistic and not Cultic megalomania mixed with pretend-communism is generally showing an ignorant take and a lack of understanding into the topic of communism and socialism. But nevertheless we did manage to find common ground in that billionaires are disgusting. Hoorah to that, akhi.

    Monaco has the most bizarre and amazing train station I ever saw. Since they were strapped for space, they simply hollowed-out the inside of one of their big hills and made the train station there. It's like you're inside this enormous lit-up rock cave and the train shows up. They definitely have got style.

    In Australia, the casino would have become hugely popular, so the government instead of helping the citizen's they would sell it to their rich corporate friends who would become so rich they would influence every decision the government took and become even richer and pay no tax or very little tax ever again. The people of Australia on the other hand would no longer have any public assets that made money and would become dependent on the rich corporation, who in turn would lower wages and stifle any wage growth, so the citizens of the land would become forever in debt, however, the they would still love the corporations for the crumbs that were thrown down the peasant pit to get on with their downtrodden lives. Never would this be discussed again due to the absolute brain deadening TV shows that took their pitiful minds of the crisis they were having and never be able to dig their way out of. I personally invaded Monaco on Dec 29 1999, and stayed thru the Y2K celebrations and fireworks. I'm an inventor (but not rich), I had a great time anyway.
    During the whole evening leading to midnight I was fascinated to watch a local family sport: Triple Skiing. right on the wharf edge. 2 skis per 3 person family 3 shoe-holders of 3 sizes mounted on each ski. Papa in the back, mama in the middle and the kid in the front, papa's face getting redder and redder ash he shouted to la famille how to ski, "Left, Right, Left, Right" except it had morphed to "Siniestra, Addestra, Siniestra, Addestra: which just has too many syllables. This resulted in trios, laughing, shrieking, and tumbling down the 2 meter high 1/2 km long mountain of snow that the Monaco gov't had hauled down the mountain and placed along the Cay-front. They supplied the skis as well, and any necessary rescuers. Many triplicates quickly went flop, and slid into the bay: he sputtering, she shrieking, and the kid going just nuts...
    I have never seen so many laughing people! Then the fireworks. :-)

    Monaco is to France what the Cayman is to the UK (offshore banking). What I don't understand is that since Monaco's currency is the € it's not a member of the EU (same thing with Andorra and San Marino)

    • @gontrandjojo9747
      @gontrandjojo9747 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They are tiny states so they didn't have their own currency even before the euro (it would be totally useless for such a tiny state to have their own currency, it's much more efficient to have the same currency than their big neighbourg). All these states used the currency of their neighbourgs before (Monaco the French franc, San Marino the Italian lira and Andorra the French franc and the Spanish peseta). Since these big neighbourgs dropped their national currency for the euro, then the microstates de facto did the same. So it has nothing to do with the European Union, but using the money of their neighbourgs (which use the euro). Monaco uses the Euro because France uses the euro, even if it's not part of the European union (before they used the French franc yet they were not part of France, same with San Marino and Italy).
      In fact Monaco even had the Monegasque franc (but it was basically French franc printed in Monaco with a different design that had the same value than French franc and could also be used everywhere in France and French franc could be used everywhere in Monaco, just like today euro coins have different designs according to their country of origin but can be used everywhere in the Eurozone).
      Another exemple is Liechtenstein that use the Swiss franc. If Switzerland had joined the European Union and had changed its currency for the euro, then Liechstenstein would have done the same.
      Also there are a lot of countries using the money of a foreign country (for exemple some central American countries like Salvador and Panama use the US dollar and some Balkans countries like Montenegro and Kosovo use the Euro, but in these cases it's more to have a stable currency than for practical reason).
