If you're going to play a different response to 1. e4, I recommend 1...e5, but in an exciting way. Against the Ruy Lopez, go for the Jaenisch Gambit/Schliemann, against the Italian go for the Two Knights and the Traxler after Ng5, go for the Frankenstein-Dracula against e4, Nc3, Bc4 whether it arises from the Bishop's Opening or Vienna, Nimzovich Counter Gambit against the King's Gambit, Caro Gambit against the Ponziani, accept the Göring Gambits and Danish Gambits and keep the material.
@@gmraven You can still make a course on it, giving different lines than the ones given by Sethuraman. Against 4. d3 Nf6 instead of Sethuraman's 4...fxe4. Against 4. Nc3 fxe4 5. Nxe4 d5 instead of 5...Nf6. Against 4. exf5 lines you could go with consistent lines involving dxc6 after Bxc6 and Nh6 ideas, which is also different.
You keep saying that this speed run is going to take forever, but I don’t think your viewers will mind. I’m learning a lot from seeing how you deal with opponents of my elo playing nonsense against 1.f4 and how to press that advantage. Learning the lines are great, but knowing what to go for when opponents mess up is the most important thing to converting wins. Thanks for the content!
Another vote for Pirc, although it would be really cool to see you play the Czech Benoni - such weird positions and no one ever knows how to respond 😀 I’ve got your new course, by the way, and am really enjoying getting stuck in
I want to see e4 e5 -- as a newer player I want to see you go into as many lines as possible (Italian, Ruy Lopes, Scotch, etc) and teach us some tricks
@gmraven Love your channel... I started playing the Bird a while ago then found your channel and the upgrade has begun. However... I play your systems and also the Reverse Dutch. Crazy. Would love to see you write a book where you go over the stuff that Taylor talked about in his book but update it with new games and backed by the power of even stronger engines that are now available today. You rock - keep up the great work! PS Maybe you could do a viewer / patron game review of viewers Bird games?
24:45 There’s a Sicilian called The Katalimov. (50% winrate for Black at masters too) It mirrors a Dutch/Bird on the queenside: first 2… b6, then Bb7 Nc6 Nf6, waiting for d4. If d4 doesn’t come, it plays like what you’re used to. You can also fianchetto kingside like a reversed b3. If White plays e5, go Ng4, and the position gets wild. It’s not dubious & tries to develop the pieces to ur preferred playstyle. It works against Alapin, Nf3, Nc3, anti-Sicilians etc. because d4 is nearly always white’s best reply with 2… b6 Check it out before you drop c5, you might like it. there are quick vids on YT just search the variation name.
I am now 1-0 with the Bird life time (horrible game but a win). In the game vs. Gabriel from Brazil the GOAT line would have been to force a winning Lucena position imo :P I'll vote for Caro as that's what I switched to inspired by the Kevin run and wouldn't mind to almost see my full repertoire. Pirc would also be interesting.
Hey Raven, loving the videos - your Intuition course is so great, I'm really enjoying working my way through it. I don't know if you have space for students, but how would someone message you to enquire about coaching? Thanks!

Pirc is a good one

@garypatella3170 I love the jaenisch haha. I would have made a course on it had sethuraman not already done one.

New opening to look into lol
Actually, I got mixed up, and meant the Nimzowitsch - E4, Nc6. There’s a great course on it on Chessable, and it’s a lot of fun to play.
@@MelodiousThunck I still looked at the Czech Benoni and it looks interesting lol
Czech benoni and nimzowitch defense could be interesting
Would love to see you play a bit of the Caro... But either way, it is time to go.

Game 1 was the Hopton Attack. Can checkmate you fast if you don't take it seriously. I know from experience.

Watch Alex banzea, good caro stuff
@@ericsmith8369 thanks! I've been playing the jobava exclusively and watch a lot of his content but working on my bird now 🐦
Bird way better than jobava. Bird the jobava of the future. Alex banzea good guy tho

Hey Raven, please Pirc or Modern, I've been playing it for a long time and I always mess up somewhere 😅
