Thank you! Yeah, the ESP8266 is limited to the 20Mhz channel bandwidth for packets, but I wonder if I can tie it into a firewall/DNS functionality which would be an additional protective feature alongside the FTP honeypot. Thanks for bringing it up!
Hello! It's a little difficult to find all the materials in-store, but Amazon would be the best place to go! Search up "NodeMCU ESP8266", "OLED SSH1106 128x64", "Pin Headers", "Perf Board", "LED", and "Tactile Push Button". It's possible to find the push buttons, LED in-store, and possibly the perf board in-store at a hardware shop though! Let me know how it goes! Thanks!

@@cailalane Glad that helped! Essentially, the device is mostly for WiFi scanning - monitoring any WiFi networks near the device and displaying information about that network. The only part of the device that requires a WiFi network is the FTP Honeypot which acts like a shield for your WiFi network and alerts you if any hacker tries to snoop on your WiFi. The device does not create a WiFi network. Think of it more like a shield or a monitor that actively scans for vulnerabilities. Hope that helps!

You need to reinstall cleanly the esp8266 Arduino core.
Tools -> Boards -> Boards Manager, and installing ESP8266 by ESP8266 Community
