Road to the RAT 2023 Race Day Video - a trail running race on the Southwest Coast Path in Cornwall

I ran the Roseland August Trail (RAT) race on the 5th August and this video is the final part covering the 20 mile Red RAT route between Portloe and Porthpean on the south coast of Cornwall. The event is run on the Southwest Coast Path. My wife is running the 11 mile White RAT route between Gorran Haven and Porthpean. This years event will be remembered because of Storm Antoni and the winds it brought. Forecasted wind speed was in excess of 50 miles an hour and I learned after the event that gusts were measured at over 65 miles an hour. We endured horizontal rain, getting tripped up by our own feet during the gusts and having to walk because running simply wasn't possible. Having said that I had a fantastic time and experience, A massive thanks goes out to the MudCrew and all the Marshalls for running a fantastic event! I know I'll be back next year for more of the same and I'm sure I hear the 32 mile Black RAT calling.
The section of the coast path used for the race is a beautiful and brutal in equal manner with some runnable sections and others that require all but the most talented runners to stop and walk at some points of the route.
