To share in our humanity, Christ would have to share in a basic feature of that humanity; a subjective sense of alienation from God. The breadth and depth of what He endured on our behalf is even more profound the more you consider it.....
There were many things that Jesus said and did that are not written down here. Imagine what those things were - how do we fill in those possible areas? Thank you for answering the question - I learned that was Jesus in his weakened human state, even though he was the Son of the God, he was still human. I was not aware of the other possible explanation though, about the psalm.
Yes God totally abandoned him. Why we have such a hard time to accept that. It wouldn't be a total gift of himself. God do amandon us, how we could make any TRUE act of faith if it was not so. But he will come back with lots of graces. He will always come back when we trust in him. The only one time he can abandon us is at the hour of our death like he did for Jesus. And look what happened, physical resurrection that happened 3 day's after. We don't understand that Jesus teach us we must die, he do a lot. We are make to believe that it will be forever here on in this present time, because we are afraid of eternal life and death.

Because it was very painful.
Sam Shamounian has superb video about this line said by Jesus. Worth of looking up !
